For our office in Poznań we are looking to fill the position:

Advertising Software Engineer

This is a mid- to senior-level position. Your ability and passion will help shape this position. You will be responsible for all of Wikia’s advertising and revenue technology. The most important requirement is a passion for great engineering in service of users and business. The role requires the abilities to solve problems and work with a wide set of stakeholders – Product, Support, Sales and Engineering.

Requirements

  • 3–10 years of web-based software engineering
  • 1–5 years of experience working with JavaScript – our ad delivery solution uses client-side JavaScript in some very interesting ways
  • Excellent technical trouble-shooting skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic start-up environment
  • Ability to articulate detailed technology concepts in English (written and verbal)
  • Experience with SVN or Git
  • Some understanding of and experience with metrics and analytics
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Bonus points

We don’t expect you to have all of the following, but the more you have, the better:

  • Experience implementing ad delivery systems
  • Experience integrating ads and other revenue features into web sites
  • Experience with high-traffic sites (tens of millions of pages a day) – extensive use of caching (e.g. Varnish or Squid), memcache, slave DBs to spread read load, etc.
  • Experience with video ads
  • Experience with user-generated content sites (blogs, forums, etc.)

Benefits & Perks

Wikia offers a salary of 8000–13000 PLN per month (gross, depending on experience), plus stock options. You’ll also get to expand your knowledge and skills with at least two fully paid professional conferences as well as two visits to our San Francisco office per year, team lunches, company trips and full pantry complete with delicious coffee, coke and cookies.

And of course, there’s plenty of testing devices to play with!
