Wikia is looking for a smart, innovative, motivated and tech-savvy communications pro to join our team as a Social Media Coordinator. We’re looking for someone with a passion for writing, blogging, and social media in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strategic marketing perspective, and the ability to move between a creative and analytical mindset. This is a full-time position. You must be able to work from our San Francisco office.
What You'll Be DoingEdit
- Platform Management – Develop a social media content calendar. Regularly update external social sites: Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, blogs and other community sites. Stay on top of trends. Follow keywords, monitor all social media outlets (pages, sites, blogs, etc.) on daily basis and post/respond on particular topics or in response to other posts/comments. Execute social media campaigns.
- Content Curation - Dig for gold on Twitter, Facebook, blogs and relevant news sites, working within the framework of our editorial calendars. Write SEO content on a tight deadline.
- Outreach - Identify Super-users, Twitter lists, Facebook groups, and potential affiliates and reach out to them. Understand the Wikia brand and represent Wikia in the social media space.
- Reporting - Stay on top of followers/fans, sentiment, trends, highlights, click-throughs and other relevant metrics. Share learnings with the Content Marketing Team.

- Tech-savvyness - You pick up quickly on new things and know every social media trick before Mashable does.
- Passion - You are an all-around entertainment buff with a supreme love for TV, movies, video games, New Media, Technology and People. You are curious and engaged in popular culture, current news and trends.
- Superior Written and Oral Communication Skills –You write quickly and well with attention to audience, tone and nuance. Your voice is authentic and real, even in 140 characters or less. You can easily assimilate into any community from Craft Brew fans to Gleeks and Twihards. You have excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
- Math Skills - You are comfortable with numbers and have a knack for recognizing patterns in stats.
- Flexibility - You can hop online at a moment's notice to deal with any situation. You work well independently and with others in a fast-paced environment. You are willing to pull long hours when necessary.
