Wikia is a top 50 website with 40 million users per month. We need you and your talent to help make it front-page news. We have a great design team, most of whom are focused on the UE and UX of the product, but it’s time for us to level-up the Creative Marketing side of the team. So, we’re looking for an Art Director to help us shape the future of our visual marketing.

The AD Creative/Marketing will manage and mentor our sales and marketing design staff while serving as creative support to the whole Design team. He/she will also be required to do some hands-on design as the primary, and most senior, creative resource for the Marketing team.

This position is full-time, based out of our San Francisco office.

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, direct, and support the sales and marketing design staff (2+).
• Give feedback as a senior level creative reviewer on product design projects.
• Act as client-side liaison to vendors.
• Work with Marketing to concept and develop Wikia’s campaigns and collateral.
• Own the visual direction of Wikia-branded collateral and initiatives.
• Present work to internal clients.
• Work hands-on with all standard design software (which assumes solid knowledge of design principles and design processes).

Desired Skills & Experience

• 7+ years working in consumer-facing design (bonus for work in entertainment).
• 1+ years working with large scale websites.
• 2+ years working as an AD or Jr. AD.
• Strong communication skills including the ability to interface with cross-functional teams and internal and external resources.
• Ability to give and receive valuable and useful feedback and critiques.
• Ability to clearly defend and champion his/her ideas and work.
• Ability to articulately discuss and defend the work of his/her reports.
• Be able to create and contribute to a positive & communicative environment within the Design team.
• Highly motivated – a self-starter who will flourish in a start-up environment.
• High level understanding of CSS, HTML, and web technologies .
• It’s a bonus if you have designed for or worked with (professionally) online communities.
