Product and Design Producer

Product & Design ProducerEdit

The Product and Design Producer is responsible for guiding all design projects through the design process. The Product and Design producer will work closely with the design team and their partners to ensure that the partners receive their requested deliverables in a timely fashion, setting up and managing all aspects of the project from inception to delivery, allowing the designer to focus on the design work.

The Product and Design Producer acts as the project manager, working with the design team’s partners to kick off projects, gather requirements, manage time-lines, feedback and revisions and distribute deliverables. The candidate will be required to manage the process and ensure that it’s optimised to serve the differing needs of our partners within and outside of Wikia.

The roll will also involve working with the product team to work on special projects; projects that are high value but that don’t fall under the remit of a product manager. Examples include managing user testing programmes and working with communities to gather feedback.

This position requires an strong leadership skills, organizational skills and a self starter attitude. The candidate must be able to manage multiple projects and prioritize them according to business value, internal and external deadlines. A positive and energetic attitude and a diplomatic nature are a must.


Design Producer

  • Primary point of contact for all internal clients (sales co-coordinator, marketing team, community team and product managers). Ensure there is an effective communication loop between internal clients and design resources and that all expectations and constraints are surfaced in a respectable manner.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Coordinator to manage external clients. Although the Marketing Coordinator is the primary point of contact, the Prodct and Design coordinator will be present and kick off meeting to ensure all assets needed for kickoff and asked for and collected.
  • Collect design requests and schedule design resources based on skill-set, priority and deadline. Ensure that the brief is complete and agreed upon by all approving parties.
  • Coordinate kick off meetings between the internal clients and the designer.
  • Enable the design team to work efficiently and meet client needs by ensuring:
    • the deliverables of the project are clear and defined
    • the deadline is realistic based upon resources.
    • required assets are available
    • work meets brand and community guidelines
    • collecting and packaging feedback from clients
  • Highlight and escalate priority and capacity issues to Design and the client where appropriate

Product Coordinator

  • Support Product Management team with cross-functional programs
  • Support Product and Community team in creation and operational aspects of the Community Council
  • Support Product and User Experience team in recruiting and running of user testing labs.


Skills and RequirementsEdit

  • 3-5 years of experience in project management specifically with cross-functional projects and teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across several clients with varying deadlines and . deliverables
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to listen, interpret and effectively communicate feedback to design team.
  • Positive can-do attitude with a realistic understanding of what can be done.
  • An ability to evangelise and implement process, and maintain standards to improve the output and efficiency of the design and product team.
  • An understanding of the online web and the design process.
