If a wiki has been inactive for two months, it can be listed for adoption. This makes it clear to visitors that help is needed and gives some links to help a potential new editor get started on reviving the dead wiki.

[edit] To Adopt

Choose a wiki to adopt at Category:Adopt a wiki or find your own wiki in need of adoption from the complete list of Wikia.

To adopt the wiki, you only need to start editing it. If you intend to stay active on the wiki, you can remove the adoption notice from the home page, and from the description page of the wiki on the Central Wikia.

If you require adminship on the wiki (for example, to change the logo or deal with vandalism) and you have made a good number of edits to the wiki for a week or more, you can request adminship on the Wiki adoption requests page.

Wikis that have been inactive for a significant period but still have potential for future growth will have a message like this placed on their main page:

This will show as:


Existing admins on the wiki should be informed about this on their user talk page at the inactive wiki.

Wikians should pay special attention to these wikis to ensure they are not spammed or vandalized, since the original admins may not be watching these wikis.
