[edit] Layout

Fooled me. I started wondering WHY the biggest wikis were only in categories with names beginning "A" to "G" and the most active ones were... - er - aha!!!

Any chance of separating the special three from the ordinary categories? Special three either running down the first column or all at the bottom, maybe?

Yeah, thanks for pointing that out. I thought I'd try out this layout -- but you're right, it doesn't work. A box around them would be better; I'll see what I can do. -- Danny (talk) 15:29, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, Danny. Down the first column looks fine, but I'm sure a little distinctiveness would make them even better - font size, colour, whatever? Maybe a separate table at the top, with the names closer together so's they don't all visually match up with the columns below? OK as is until you think of sthg. [edit] Lesser known wikis

I think there should be a sub-category for lesser-known wikis such as MMO Tips, Risk etc etc. Anyone with me? theg721 from the Risk Wiki!

Then there would be too many wikis on that list, which defeats the whole purpose of having one. The 888th Avatar (Talk) 11:48, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] I18n

I'd like to place a box in each hub, which says "This hub is also available in [Language]". I'd propose following box:

See this hub also in
{{{Languages}}} (linked via interwiki [[:de:Kategorie:Portale]]

What do you mean? Marc-Philipp (MtaÄ) Helper (Talk) 07:13, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Side bar menu

Can I propose that th side bar menu is updated with more of the hubs listed in it & the hobbies link actually goes to a Hub style page (or several sub pages) rather than the Hobbies category that it currently does. The 'Popular' wikis appear to be favoured with higher profile links. With the number lumped under hobbies category they have a lower visibility than the 'spotlighted ones on entertainments, Games & Big Wikis. Autos has a hub style page but is not linked from the menu . Their are probably others, and wikia uses the 'Spotlights' feature on each page to promote other wikis, but it often displays multiple adds (different image) for the same the same few wikis (in my experience). The logical place to look for other interesting wikies is in the menu but unless your after a games / tv / comic based wiki you do not appear to be catered for. Perhaps a helper with access to the side bar could update it a bit ? - Just a bit of feed back after looking for other wiks and finding a lot of subjects with potential but little exposure IMO. - BulldozerD11 11:51, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

What's going on with the menu is that the most visited pages in that category are listed, while those less popular are not. I think this approach is quite fair, especially because you could just visit the hubs category anyway. I'm worried personally about making this huge menu that just clutters. [edit] United Nations is not here!

[edit] Green / Ecology Hub: how about it?

I'd like to create a new wiki for designing and building an "eco-village" which is an alternative design for housing that is very energy efficient and does not create pollution.

Looking over the existing cqtegories, I did not find a good match. "Lifestyles" seems close, but was not really a good match.

Something "green?" Mbbradford 18:44, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

You can either take Green or (in fact you develope/invent something) Technology. But the hub is not the most important, just start your wiki, we can change it afterwards :) Marc-Philipp (MtaÄ) Helper (Talk) FW.png 18:49, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
