Wikia - creating communities
The accompanying Cat's membership shows no sign of overall planning, tho the vast majority of articles belong in the Cat or its descendants. I am in the process of working out some kind of subdivision, and in the absence of contrary discussion i will proceed implementing more structure, without bothering to describe more than this general direction:
Finding the Wikia article a user wants, with an alpha list of 79 items that represent individual sports, teams, and at least one each of commercial equipment maker and sportscaster, is inefficient. I contemplate looking for clusters and creating a corresponding sub-Cat for each; "ball-kicking sports" could be a new sub-Cat of this Cat, with several teams and every article or subcat i've noticed with "foot" in its title moving down into the new subCat. "Outdoors" is not a sport, but perhaps "Outdoor sports" should be a new subCat of both Category:Sports and [:Category:Outdoors]] as parents ("super-Cats"). I expect something close to "wheel sports", "sports where competitors interact", and "sports with hand-powered balls" are likely to serve as subCats to group current (direct) members of the accompanying Cat.
Especially if someone has widely accepted terms that, together, don't leave out too many sports, there may be better titles, but even the abstractions i've mentioned will clearly guide searchers to smaller lists, which is what matters.
