Wikia - creating communities
Collaboration of the month is an initiative to encourage edits to help new or quiet Wikia to make improvements.
The Open Source Wiki mainly focuses on indexing free and open source software. Furthermore the wiki also aims to bring together communities of developers and users. It is possible to write reviews, workarounds or manuals. The wiki is young and fresh ideas are welcome.
The second important point is giving some background information to the public. The terms Open Source and Free Software are mostly misunderstood by the users who download it. Help us spread the word why Open Source already is revolutionizing the computer industry and that Free Software does not just mean free as in free beer, but free as in Freedom!
You can help by adding more software to the directory, write easy to understand explanations or join the effort to create a new logo.

Nomination statement:
The initial idea was to create an Open Source Software catalogue. I definitely need help uploading screenshots, writing descriptions as there are quite many OS projects.
My second thought was to provide some general information: What is free software? How do companys make money with that concept? Why is it so important to have open protocols and formats? There are similiar Wiki projects like Open Source and WhyFree that can be merged into OSS Wiki. See w:c:oss:Category:Backgrounds
