Calgary Community Wiki

This wiki was featured on March 7, 2005.

Just to have a choice, I figured I would do a self-nomination.

Some of the reasons why it might be appropriate to feature the Calgary Wiki are:

  • I believe that this is a good example of how to set up a city/place Wikicity
    • Of all the wikicities about cities, this appears to have the most content
    • I believe the framework is fairly solid (e.g. categorization, modification of the navigation to include the Calendar)
  • Showcasing a city wiki will show something to which everyone can relate, since everyone lives somewhere. This could potentially lead to new wikicities and/or contributors. (The last two were technology specific. Not all computer users want to read about computer related topics.)

I support this. There are a lot of wikis based on local areas now, and the Calgary one is the most developed so far. Pacific Northwest Community is also developing well. Boppard and Las Vegas seemed to start well, but have been fairly inactive lately. I think Calgary is the best within category:places . Angela 14:47, 6 Mar 2005 (GMT)
