Wiki adoption requests
Wikia - creating communities
Wiki admins are responsible for leading the community -- making sure new people are welcomed, encouraging communication, and setting a calm and polite example for how people should work together on the wiki. They're also responsible for protecting the content from vandalism -- admins can protect and delete pages, and block vandals.
Admin status is usually granted by the wiki's founder (in young projects) or by community discussion (in more active wikis).
In cases where the existing admins have stopped contributing to the project, the wiki can be adopted by other community members. If you'd like to adopt a wiki, please add your request below.
Your request is more likely to succeed when:
- You've contributed to the wiki's content
- You have the support of other active members of the community
- The current admins have not contributed to the wiki for more than 60 days
- You have created/customized a welcome template, and you've welcomed all of the new contributors on Recent changes
- You have not founded, adopted or been given admin access on another wiki in the last 60 days

- That aside, I can't see that you've contributed to the wiki yet. We like to see people make some good contributions, customize a welcome template, and welcome other users before they adopt a wiki, per the guidelines on the top of this page. It looks like there is a lot of anonymous activity on that wiki; it's hard to say if any of that is from regular contributors, but if it is, we'd also like to make sure they're on board with you being an admin. - Hi Tritem! It's great that you're excited about Zeldapedia, but there is already an active community there with several active administrators. If you are interested in becoming an administrator there, you should spend some time there and help out. Once you have been there a while and gained the community's trust, you can post a RfA. But regardless, there are a lot of ways that you can help a wiki without being an admin. If there is a non-English version of Zeldapedia that you're specifically interested in, let me know and we can look in to adopting that one a bit further. --KyleH

Hello, um... I would like to adopt the Teen Titans wiki, its very underdeveloped and its been a victim of spamming for some time now, so if you could grant me adminship I would really appreciate it, if not could you at least give admin status to a responsible user on that wiki?

- Hi - I think it's great that you want to help out Teen Titans. I don't see any regular contributors there, but I also don't see that you have made any contributions. There is a lot that you can clean up (Using "Undo" and {{delete}} tags if nothing else) as a regular user, and many things you could do to spruce up the wiki and expand the content. I'm not sure if this is the right page for this, so could someone please help me :). I have been trying to help with the Pendragon wiki's setup, but have been having difficulty because I am not an admin. I put a request there, but I don't know of anyone who visits it regularly, and the founder is currently inactive. Sorry if this was the wrong place to put this, Blurrr(Talk)

- Hi. I think it's great that you want to improve the Calvin and Hobbes wiki. However it's only been a couple of weeks since you were made a sysop on Rocket Science Wiki, and per our guidelines above, it should be at least 60 days since you were granted admin status on any other wiki before you adopt another. I would like to adopt the Runescape wiki as it is a great site and I do play Runescape. I have adequate knowledge about it. I guarantee that when the wiki is under me it will prosper to new heights. In fact, Runescape is a massive online multiplayer game and i want it to further progress. I want it to go to a new level. Please do allow me to adopt it. Thanks.

- Hi! I'm glad to hear you're excited about the Runescape Wiki; however, there are already a bunch of sysops on the English Ruenscape Wiki (I count 25 that have been active on the wiki in the last 30 days!). You can do a bunch of work on the wiki without being a sysop though. There are a bunch of projects and areas that need help listed on the Community Portal. [edit] The Tiny Guide to Wikis and Wikipedia
I'd like to adopt this wikia because I can see its potential. Sure, there aren't 502,611,492,244 things to be written about, but it'd be good to have an active guide wiki to show people around a bit. when a wiki like this goes inactive, it doesn't just affest the wiki's traffic flow, it affects all of Wikia, so to me it's not only the chance to save a small community, it's the chance to help a larger community in whatever small way I can. --Gp75motorsports REV LIMITER GT-PT/GT-EN/CSW 16:07, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

But the wiki is just now getting started, and can use your help in a lot of other ways. I found the Antiques Wiki (antiques.wikia.com) and it looks like nothing happened to it since it was started on January 9th, 2008. I'd like to adopt it. I can't edit the sidebar or anything like that without being an admin, and I'd need to do that in order to revive the wiki. The sidebar still contains "edit me!" content links, and the main page still had "The wiki about (topic)" on it before I edited it.

- So now you don't care about the Mario wiki? You just want to be in control of a wiki. Wikis need people to care for them, not to rule them. This isn't a page where free wikis are handed out to users. There are inactive wikis that need caring for, and this page is only for people willing to take good care of them. Hello there !
I'm quite an active user on the Charmed wiki along with the user, LeoandPiper, and we were both wondering if it would be possible to become admins. We have been there for a lengthly period of time, made countless categories, pages, redirects, editing the main page and even reverting edits by a vandal ! In the frequent user list, LeoandPiper is the top user, ahead of both admins and I am second,also ahead of both admins. To cut this long message short, could we become admins soon (Liutenant Ayala hasn't made any edits for almost 60 days and I believe Darlene4 for is gone for good). There seem to be no other frequently active users.
