Creative Commons for wiki licenses?

Can new wikis make their content licensed under the Creative Commons, particularly CC-BY-2.5-CA (Creative Commons Attribution License 2.5, Canada)? I'm the only contributor to the Canada's Wonderland wiki so far (I'm trying to give it a basis, before attracting a community) and I really think it's a better license in the long run. There doesn't seem to be any answer to previous inquiries. -- CWikister 17:12, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Before further discussion, I would advise everyone to read Forum:Why is "wikia.com" using GFDL? Only because of copying from Wikipedia? Or are there other reasons?. This has been discussed before. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 18:36, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Okay, understandable that CC-NC licenses aren't allowed, those would defeat the whole mission of free content. But Creative Commons is a whole lot less clunky than the GFDL, ie you don't have to print a whole three page license document when reproducing the content. -- CWikister 20:49, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
The new version of the GFDL allows migration to a Creative Commons license, so that's something we're currently looking into. See this FAQ for more info. Angela@Wikia (talk) 21:14, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I did hear of that. But if Wikia can at least consider letting the creators of new wikis choose a Creative Commons alternative, that would be great. -- CWikister 01:30, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

What does everyone think of the Creative Commons Attributions Share Alike 3.0 license? It ensures that our work requires attribution, and it's protective. It's what I would recommend. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 22:21, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Sounds good to me. I'm open to any Commons license that doesn't have an NC clause. -- CWikister 01:30, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Can someone read all thoses legal things and put here a "résumé" of the diffrences between the two (GFDL and CC without NC clause) ? — TulipVorlax 06:45, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
They're compared on the "Freedom Defined" website, here. (The table includes a lot of more obscure ones, too.) I've extracted the relevant ones here. -- CWikister 15:42, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
