On openserving.com (a great initiative!) anything that one wants to host there has to be categorized. Problem is: the available categories are very restrictive. How do I point this out to the people who took this initiative ??!! I think it is essential that more oprions will be made available. What happened to Openserving? I was so looking forward to it.

- 68.87.42.110, MyWikiBiz is not a wiki farm like Wikia. Wikia hosts thousands of wikis on just about any topic you could think of. MyWikiBiz is simply a place to place your own personal or business directories and get miniscual adsense (it's really that small) revenue for using their service. --CharitwoTalk 16:37, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'd rather keep my own minuscule (correct spelling) ad revenues for the rest of my life, than donate that revenue to a for-profit corporation that depends on my volunteered content generation for survival. But that's just me. I guess there's a whole class of Internet users who would rather give money to private corporations than to use it themselves to save for retirement or buy a cup of coffee or give to their favorite charity. I'm about to get a $100 check from Google, with a good portion of it generated on sites like MyWikiBiz. But, again, that's just me. Each to his own. -- 68.87.42.110 16:52, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- None of the users here donate money to Wikia; Wikipedia does the fund-raisers. - Written like an 18-year-old from West Islip. Mike, I think what he meant was that here on Wikia, you donate your time and writing efforts, and the company makes money off of your contributions, because they keep all the revenues. On the WikiBiz site, they let you keep all of the ad revenues generated by your page content. Have you noticed what forum this is? Do you understand the relevence of talking about a shared-revenue business model for wikis, here in the OPENSERVING forum? You're not making much of a case for your intelligence here. - I think insults, here on this forum page or in the sumairy (sorry for my bad english) are really not needed. Every one are free to think like they want to. But what 68.87.42.110 was doing here, and there, was to me only a disguised way to do some publicity to the other website. Again, we are all free to think what we want and this was only my own stupid opinion. Nothing to get "hyper" about.
- That been said, on my part, i dont need ad revenue from the wikis i work on and i prefer that this money insure that the wiki will never get close down like the first french wiki were i've began learning how wikis worked. Indeed, today guildwiki.fr and all the content that i contribute there for around a year, has vanished.
- The thing i like on Wikia is that the content belong to the community, not the guy who started it, not the hosting compagny (Wikia). I think "loosing" the add money is a small compensation to all that.

- Deranged logic. What is the guarantee that Wikia will be here two years from now? They're bleeding cash and unable to generate another round of venture capital investment. Sorry, JamieCooper, but if you read 68.87.42.110's comment, you would have realized that he said, "a whole class of Internet users who would rather give money to private corporations," so yes, he was indeed talking about donating money to Wikia. It can be assumed that he doesn't realize the difference between Wikia and Wikipedia. If you listen to recent events, you would know that many user dislike the fact that Wikipedia has a giant "ad" that says "donate to us," so I believe that the IP's agrument is based partially on events at Wikipedia. Yes, I know that this is a forum about the failed Openserving project, but that IP address certainly wanted to change the topic to MyWikiBiz. Also, you you had done your research on this discussion, you would have realized that The IP also spammed Forum:A better deal for more serious topic wikia? with "MyWikiBiz is better" stuff, and if you read that, you would have realized that I already know what MyWikiBiz is all about.
