Wikia - creating communities

Freenode is a service of Peer-Directed Projects Center, a non-profit organization. Freenode hosts the Wikia IRC channel, along with 100s of other channels, for no cost. Wikia, Inc. encourages users of Wikia to use the IRC channel to aid communication between Wikia communities, and to support Freenode's hosting of that channel by donating to their fundraising drive.

A web interface to the #wikia channel is available at irc.wikia.com.

Wikia supported Freenode's fundraising drive for five days in June 2005 by replacing the usual Google AdSense advertisements with a Freenode banner towards the end of their 2005 fundraising drive.
