Re Rule #4, "there must be consensus": How much agreement do you consider consensus? I'm considering asking for a custom namespace on a wiki I administer, but so far I've only had two votes of support - out of ten total users, mind, and three who are active, and no votes against. Would this be enough "consensus" to qualify for the creation? Should I try to hunt down some more users to get their opinions? -Rook

Hi,

We will need some custom namespaces. We already know about two of them that will be needed. But we have no idea about a third and last one. Should we ask for the two first now and still be able to add the third in about one year from now ? It is that at least one of the namespace will be use right away even if we have just a few people working on the wiki at the moment. That is the Build: namespace. The second one, the Guilde: namespace, will be some kind of user space but more precisly a place for group of user (a guild) to make page about their in game guild (note that guild take an ending "e" in french). Thoses two namespaces will be very important. Even more, it will attract a bunch of user. We had severals resquests of that type on the old and failling wiki where we're comming from. But nobody had FTP acces so all that needed editing of LocalSettings.php was out of reach.

If you say that by asking two namespaces now we wont be able to have a third one in say 6 to 18 months, i will report that info back on our wikia and return here if we accept to "loose" that third one. If we cant comme up with an idea for the third namespace now, it might just be that we will never have use for it anyway. Altough we could just do a portal or project namespace (in a french wiki that will have to be Portail: or Projet:). But, only one of them because we wont have much use of them (even if there already is some pages using thoses prefix, that will need to be rename temporairy, i know). It will just be to "fill the hole" and not let our third custom namespace go to waste.

I've started a conversation on that matter on our wiki (it is at w:c:fr.guildwars:Discuter:Accueil#Ajout_d.27espace_de_nom) and they don't have any idea for a third namespace. But hey all aggree on the two first ones.

Yes, it's fine to ask for 2 now if you only need 2 now. The limit of 3 isn't absolute. It's just to discourage people from wanting a new one every week. :) Please email me when you've decided which new namespaces you want. Angela ^talk 16:26, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Duh, the email form put wikia in subject by default.. It's just that i have an administrator that need at least one of the namespaces (the Build: one) before been able to contribute. All of his page's will be prefixed Build:, he is in charge of de Build section (as well as most other PvP pages). He does everything in is userspace in the mean time.

I know the update and all the bugs must still take most of your time. But can we hope to have them in a week or two ? Again, the three namespaces are : Build:, Guilde: and Stratégie:. (And if possible, renaming "Forum talk:" to Discussion Forum: so it be in french)
