MediaWiki™ is the software which runs all of the wikis on Wikia.

Originally created for Wikipedia, MediaWiki is an open source PHP-based wiki engine now used to run thousands of sites.

Wikia is currently running on MediaWiki version 1.12.0. Please visit MediaWiki 1.12 to report any problems with the ongoing upgrade.
