[edit] Special:Miniupload - FIXED
It's still just working for the english version of memoryalpha... I just accidently uploaded an image from dememoryalpha to our colleagues to MA/en. : [ defchris ] : [ leave-a-message ] : 16:56, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] addOnloadHook function appears broken - FIXED
On uncyclopedia, functions called using addOnloadHook do not load, but don't give any errors either. Changing these calls to use window.addEventListener('load', functionName, false); makes them work again. Spang
- Perhaps it has something to do with #wgBreakFrames is undefined + user js & css failing. At least it works elsewhere. My user .js uses it alot. ~Dantman(talk) Mar 22, 2007 @ 02:17 (UTC)

[edit] wgBreakFrames is undefined + user js & css failing - FIXED
Every page on uncyclopedia gets the javascript error wgBreakFrames is undefined in wikibits.js (on FF2 at least).
Also, several people are saying that their user javascripts and CSSes aren't working any more. Possibly because of the javascript error above? Spang 04:25, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- I've seen the same JavaScript error in IE6 and IE7. --Dr. Chuck 22:52, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mini-upload errors - FIXED
While the mini-upload option is back online, it is broken. The buttons for scaling the picture tubmnail are missing, it can't be scales. Also the picture can't be insert, the button isn't simply working. Is this only a problem with the u5lazarus wiki, or have others this as well? --Tribun 12:49, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- The Particracy wiki has the same problem. --Dasch 03:58, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- The Bionic wiki has the same problem, too. Insert does not work. Dimensions of the upload popup-window are too small to fit all the text inside. Insert button is cutoff on bottom— User:FuzzyLogic (talk) 03:13, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
In the german Uncyclopedia the Upload and insert an image inline-button doesen´t work as it should. Something is seriously wrong with that function.--Ichbinich 19:56, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- I have talked to sannse about this and it seems that this is a Wikia wide error, I mean many wiki's mini-uploads are broken,... sannse have test several and they are broken. [♠ Agus Talk • Guestbook • FoodopediA ♠] 09:08, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Math problem - not bug
Wikia's math has not upgrade in my wikia's wiki. It is smaller than others wikis like wikipedia. --Erikmora 20:29, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] No Thumbnail rendering for Scalable Vector Graphics - FIXED
In dememoryalpha, creating new thumbnails of jpg, png and gif files works fine - but it does not for svgs. : [ defchris ] : [ leave-a-message ] : 18:11, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- Same on WarWiki. As WarWiki has lots of flag thumbnails, we'd appriciate if this would be fixed. :)
- It gives me "Error creating thumbnail:" on when trying to create a thumbnail of a SVG image on WarWiki. See w:c:war:Battle of Dunkirk for an example. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 10:03, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Giverollback broken - FIXED
Special:Giverollback seems to be broken, because even if you enter an existent username, it will still say There is no user by the name "<USERNAME>". Check your spelling. G.He(Talk!) 23:43, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yep. I can confirm this one. Just tested on WarWiki, always the same error. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 05:49, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

- This is the link between "Wikia home" and "Live wiki help", which doesn't exist on English wikis.
- Fixed --Inez 13:19, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] search broken? - FIXED
In "my" wikia, dont know about others, the search is broken [1]. It never give any result because all namespaces are unselected by default. Namespace selection has disapeared from the preferences panel. § TůζipVõrζąx Discuter 05:43, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Ho! You did do something. I was wondering... But, when i enter "biro" i should get result that i dont. And there's never any namespace selected.
- But search work with other words. Maybe that particular word is missing from some kind of indexe. Can you explain about about the new search fonctionality, i dont understand the change in the preferences.... OH! Never mind, preferences are back. Good! Yay! It's all working !!! Thanks ! — TůζipVõrζąx Talk 13:24, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Can't access Recent changes on http://www.uncyclopedia.de - FIXED

[edit] Database error - FIXED
Attempting to update my user info page on the JET Wikia and I'm getting this error when I save the edits:

[edit] Inputboxes - FIXED
The "prefix" attribute no longer works. - Sikon 16:04, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- The cause seems to be that the default Inputbox extension doesn't have that feature, but Algorithm's version does. Perhaps we've slipped back to the default version somehow. Angela talk 16:42, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
I thought this was a pre-existing problem, unrelated to the upgrade, that only occurs when someone uses a colon in the title, but it was just a coincidence that someone used a colon at MA. I created this thing to demonstrate it. Now it is clear to me that it is the prefix attribute as Sikon mentioned above, and it is related to the upgrade. --Bp 17:05, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- Fixed --Inez 10:30, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Internal Server Error on Aachen Wiki - FIXED
When I try to edit pages (or sections) on the Aachen Wiki (http://aachen.wikia.com/), an internal server error is shown (code 500). MarkWiesemann 14:59, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- After some more trying: Firefox and Opera allow me to edit the pages, while IE 7 still shows the Internal Server Error, regardless which page I try to edit. And yes, I have cleaned up my cache. MarkWiesemann 20:21, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- More investigations: Firefox allows me to edit pages when I'm not logged in. When I'm logged in, Firefox shows me this error message: [...] "function 'Block::load'" [...] "1054: Unknown column 'ipb_anon_only' in 'where clause' (216.224.121.137)" MarkWiesemann 20:24, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Fixed --Inez 17:35, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Same problem as above on desencylopedie :
'Block::load'" [...] "1054: Unknown column 'ipb_anon_only' in 'where clause' (216.224.121.137)"
- Fixed --Inez 07:51, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image/file undeletability - FIXED
I know it's doable now that the upgrade has been made, but when will the function actually be enabled? G.He(Talk!) 00:48, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- I just enabled it --Inez 14:31, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Highlighting large changes - FIXED
I suppose this isn't actually a problem, but I was wondering how to make larger changes show up bold, edits with added text show up green, and edits with deleted text show up red, like on wikipedia's recent changes list. If it has to do with $wgRCShowChangedSize, I really don't know what this is, nor how to adjust it. Can Wikia Central have a page that describes how to modify this? Thanks! --User:Yunzhong Hou
- Add this to MediaWiki:Monobook.css on your wiki:
.mw-plusminus-pos {color: #006400;}.mw-plusminus-neg {color: #8B0000;}- You will need to reload the cache to make this work. Angela talk 16:17, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
It works now, thanks! The other thing I was wondering is how to make larger changes show up bold; could you post the instructions for that as well? Thanks! --User:Yunzhong Hou
It also works now, thanks! I played with the combinations, and it seems that this could be useful:
.mw-plusminus-pos {color: #4AA02C; font-weight: bold;} .mw-plusminus-neg {color: #E42217;}
- MediaWiki:Common.css would probably be better since it would apply to all skins instead of only monobook. G.He(Talk!) 01:01, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] File Upload - FIXED
The upload file feature is not operable on Wikiality. When the upload link is pressed, the following error message is displayed: "The upload directory (/images/wikiality/images) is not writable by the webserver". Please contact me at my Wikiality talkpage. --WatchTVEatDonutDrinkBeer 16:35, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- http://basilicus.wikia.com is fixed, thanks! --Laveaux 16:20, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
I get the same error too, when i want to upload a file: "The upload directory (/images/criticalmass/images) is not writable by the webserver". Radfahrer 13:47, 21March 2007 - fixed, thanks! - oh sorry, not fixed!
- I'm also still getting it, at http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Upload Jolter 15:32, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Number of pages on sca21 - FIXED
Don't know if this is a problem, but noticed number of pages - total appearing at top of sca21:Main Page seemed to go down from over 3,000 to around half (just over 1,500) what it had been, but just would be good to know why, Ta Philralph 14:21, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- There's your answer. G.He(Talk!) 04:26, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Ma-fr still down - FIXED
Thank you! --StarTrekMan( Talk : Contribs ) 11:16, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Micronations Wiki Down - FIXED
[edit] Wikia-Wikia Links - FIXED
"w:c:WikiaName:Article" has been changed to "http://www.wikia.com/wikia/c:WikiaName:Article" - was this supposed to happen? Zephyrinus 18:39, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- Wasn't that always the case? This gives the correct link. w:c:doom:Entryway for example will redirect via the "c" trick to point at the Entryway article on the Doom Wikia. Angela talk 19:19, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- If so, I never noticed it before - but then I'm just a beginning to use "w:c:" instead of "http://www.wikia.com/wikia/" - and I think I would have noticed it because it is a bit confusing to hover over a "w:c:" and see a "http://www.wikia.com/wikia/". But if nothing is broken, then just chalk this up to a newbie's ignorance - it wouldn't be the first time for me. Best wishes on the change. DON'T PANIC. Zephyrinus 19:46, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Recent changes - FIXED
Recent changes now lists the number of characters that have been added or subtracted from the page. I find it distracting, especially when it's over 1,000 characters, and the number is bolded.
It also seems unnecessary, because it doesn't actually tell you how much of the article has been changed. You could replace the entire text of the article with different text that happens to be one character larger, and it would show up as (+1). So what's the point?
Is it possible to turn this feature off? -- Danny (talk) 19:45, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- You can change the colors in your monobook settings (see above) to make it less distracting and to remove the bold. display:none might also work there. The idea behind the feature is that it makes certain types of problem edits easier to spot (page blanking and additions of large copyright violations). Angela talk 22:06, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't see how it makes that easier. Blanking a short page and deleting a paragraph from a long page would change the same number of characters. A large copyright violation and a large legitimate addition would also be the same. The most insidious vandalism is a small change to a page that wouldn't be noticed. The numbers don't tell you anything about the content of the change.
- Personally, I like the new addition and find that it can be useful at times. I believe it's one of the built-in features of the upgrade. However, if an individual wiki decides to hide it, an admin could add the following to MediaWiki:Common.css:
.mw-plusminus-pos {
display: none;
}
.mw-plusminus-neg {
display: none;
}
.mw-plusminus-null {
display: none;
}
After the above is added, the only difference will be 4 dots between the time and the user instead of the previous 2 dots. G.He(Talk!) 01:03, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply! I tried adding that to the Common.css page, but it doesn't seem to have worked. Would you mind checking out my Common.css page to see what I'm doing wrong? -- Danny (talk) 01:56, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
*/
.mw-plusminus-pos {
display: none;
}
.mw-plusminus-neg {
display: none;
}
.mw-plusminus-null {
display: none;
}
/* */
G.He(Talk!) 02:12, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Take a look at the code in the editbox instead of what is displayed. You use a /*<pre>*/ at the start of the code, and a /*</pre>*/ at the end. The pre tags give you the proper whitespace formatting when you view it. And the comments stop the css or js from being broken. Also note that other than .mw-plusminus-pos and .mw-plusminus-neg there is also .mw-plusminus-null. Also note that while they are normaly spans if it is a large number in the negative direction it will become a strong type element. If you want to remove them all, then it would be better to use the code below (copy from view not source): ~Dantman(talk) Mar 21, 2007 @ 15:20 (UTC)
/*<pre>*/
.mw-plusminus-pos,
.mw-plusminus-neg,
.mw-plusminus-null { display: none; }
/*</pre>*/

[edit] Sig bug? - FIXED
My signature here on central and i all other english wikia became unusable because everytime i change it on one wiki, it get copied to the others and on a french wiki, the user namespace is Utilisateur. Maybe it's intended to be woking like that now, but if it continue, i'll just revert it to plain automatic signature everywhere (with no aditional link to my talk). See > § TůζipVõrζąx Discuter 05:26, 22 March 2007 (UTC) it is red. But my user and talk page exist here. § TůζipVõrζąx Discuter 05:26, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Signatures are supposed to be global. Otherwise editing signatures would be a massive pain with all the wikia you can move around to. You have 2 options. Use a wiki specific signature. Or a better choice would just be to use and instead of User and User talk. That'll give you the proper link on each wikia. ~Dantman(talk) Mar 22, 2007 @ 06:01 (UTC)
- And how will that translate the text of the link Talk <> Discuter ? But thanks for the tip.
- I think they should have preferences based on language of the wiki. Like, here i wouldn't mind text and messages to be in english, it's english wiki. I want french interface only in french wiki. But that is just a matter of preferences. That's the word, preferences. § TůζipVõrζąx Discuter 06:16, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- is a magicword which always refers to the User talk namespace of a wiki. No matter where you use it it will output the name of the User talk namespace even if it's been altered for use in a different language. Here as you see it outputs User_talk. And it'll output the proper name for that namespace on that other wiki. So using it will make sure that the links point to the correct location. ~Dantman(talk) Mar 22, 2007 @ 08:15 (UTC)
- Yes, but if i do not make my link like that Talk the text of the link would be User talk:TulipVorlax and that would work, it will link to the right page, but i want to only have that : — TůζipVõrζąx Talk. The user name linked to the user page and a word, different in french that in english, and there's nothing to tell the parser... urgh never mind. As you can see, problem solve. How ? Made my sig subst a "template" at :TulipVorlax/sig and every wikis will have a little different content on my tiny sub page.
- But, thanks to have show me the way that led me to it. — TůζipVõrζąx Talk 09:27, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- User and User work the same. Even on a french wiki. So TulipVorlax will work for that. If you're talking about how to do actual translations of TulipVorlax to TůζipVõrζąx, that's not something that software can actively do. But there is another magic word that can help. CONTENTLANGUAGE Here on english wikia it comes out as en but on a french wikia it will be fr so if you want to manually make your name different when you're on a french wikia then here's what you'd use in your preferences.

- If you used a template then you'd use this:

- I'm good with the simple formatting scripting, if you want something done, just explain what it is you want done. ~Dantman(talk) Mar 22, 2007 @ 11:00 (UTC)
- No, here on central, the "template" contain only that : — TůζipVõrζąx <small>Talk</small>. And it contain this on a french wiki : — TůζipVõrζąx <small>Discuter</small>
- In my "night" i've realized that Talk and Discuter are word used on namespace 1. But, as you can see, the i used in those "templates" have disapeared. If so, it will be less complicated for me to type in thoses what they becamed and forgot about using subst: except to tell in prefs where is the "sig template"
- Lastly, no, you didn't not understand. If you type :TulipVorlax you will get a link to the right user talk page on any language. But, the text for it will be will be to long (ie User talk:TulipVorlax or Discussion Utilisateur:TulipVorlax) so it need to use redirects link, so the text of it will be a small word. See, a link > Text that will appear. You already know about that. You're not a newcommer. So, if you want to continue to not understand me, i suggest we stop polluting this page and continue this on my personnal talk page here on central. Link in my sig > — TůζipVõrζąx Talk 18:04, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm good with the simple formatting scripting, if you want something done, just explain what it is you want done. ~Dantman(talk) Mar 22, 2007 @ 11:00 (UTC)

- Does Utilisateur:TulipVorlax point to User:TulipVorlax here ? No. See : Utilisateur:TulipVorlax User: does not exist on french wikis sorry. — TůζipVõrζąx Talk 21:19, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- But it works. Duh. But that is NOT the problem here ! The problem is the text that appear as a link. Not been able to link to right page. Only the TEXT. Sorry. But i dont know how to make it clear.... — TůζipVõrζąx Talk 21:22, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MediaWiki:Noarticletext - FIXED
Noarticletext no longer has an effect upon trying to edit empty pages. w:c:AliceSoft. -Afker 15:36, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Except on Uncyclopedia, nonexistent pages are shown with an empty box regardless of the content of MediaWiki:Noarticletext. - Sikon 15:39, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- Browsing the source, the problem seems to be an extrenuous bit of code blanking $ret as soon as it is defined in Article.php:
$ret = wfMsg( $wgUser->isLoggedIn() ? 'noarticletext' : 'noarticletextanon' );
wfRunHooks('ArticleAddContent', array(&$this, $action, &$ret) );
- The Wikimedia trunk Article.php doesn't have this (and is the only obvious difference twixt the two, regarding noarticletext). I've submitted a trac report to the devs. --Splarka (talk) 02:06, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Internal Server Error on page move
This probably isn't that huge of a deal (it may not even be a bug, really), but when I try to move multiple pages on Golden Sun Universe, it will let me do two, then give me an internal server error (I'll quote it below). If I wait a bit, though, it will let me move the pages.
The internal server error reads as follows:
Internal Server Error Sorry, the server has encountered an internal error. Please wait a moment and hit "refresh" to submit the request again.
--Hinoa talk.gsu.un 18:23, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think this is related to the upgrade. There are built in moves-per-minute limits for non-bots/non-sysops. --Splarka (talk) 03:50, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] automatic edit summaries - FIXED
The automatic edit summaries for a new page creation is making RecentChanges look really messy and confusing to read. How do I disable that? —Scott (talk) 21:17, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- edit MediaWiki:Autosumm-new, MediaWiki:Autosumm-replace, and MediaWiki:Autosumm-blank on your wiki. --Splarka (talk) 23:00, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Mini-upload extension missing - FIXED
Maybe its the same problem as shown above, but I can't upload a image in de edit window. De link to insert a image is gone. This problem shows up at the Dutch verkeer wiki.
- I have exactly the same problem.
- I'm having the same issue on the Bionic Wiki page. I cannot upload images. The action link is missing. Seems to have happened after the upgrade. — User:FuzzyLogic (talk) 04:11, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I have that problem too. The option has simply vanished in the edit window, which makes proper editing much harder and VERY annoying. That has to be fixed as fast as poosible!
-Tribun (Ultima-wikia)
- I have the same problem and i cannot uploado neither from upload archive's page because there isn't any "browse" button or antything else. --Erikmora 20:26, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Does Special:Upload still work? If not, please report this in the #Uploads broken section above. Angela talk 02:08, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
The manual upload still works, althrough painfully slow. But the missing link in the edit window for uploading and imbadding images is really serious, it makes editing pages and creating new ones very tedious and it makes fluent work almost impossible. So the promlem lies in the page edit process. Please this needs to be fixed.

[edit] No license selection on upload
Aside from uploads not working, the drop down box to select what license to release the image under has disappeared. Bobo12345 06:39, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- That is not part of the standard setup. None of my local wikis (that i installed myself) have this. And w:c:fr.guildwars never had that neither. § TůζipVõrζąx Discuter 06:42, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Is that right? Maybe my memory is at fault, but I'm sure I didn't have to re-edit the page of each new image I uploaded to include the license before... Bobo12345 07:27, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- It's included on all "new" English wikis since the content from the Starter wiki is now imported, so some will have it whilst older ones don't. Angela talk 04:40, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, taking note of that. (so i dont say stupid things again ^^) — TůζipVõrζąx Talk 13:29, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- I've found the way to add this our wikia (fr.guildwars). It will be really usefull. Better than putting liscences templates in edittools. Thanks. — TůζipVõrζąx Talk 20:14, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Update thingy
Update: There are further steps to the upgrade, one of which is in progress now. For example: on doom it happened last night. A change in 1.9 was to make obsolete the need to have a MediaWiki: namespace message that was the same as the default in /languages/messages/MessagesXX.php (as well as in extensions), so any messages that are the same as the default are being deleted.
This is good for several reasons:
- Easier to keep track of all customized via Special:Prefixindex or Special:Allpages
- Easier to upgrade without User:MediaWiki_default having to edit every updated message on every upgrade.
- Easier for us to change a global default message without editing several thousand MediaWiki: pages (although there will still be a caching issue involved in this).
Please let us know if this (when this happens) solves any of the above problems. --Splarka (talk) 23:33, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- We were definitely seeing the red links on Special:Allmessages even before this upgrade. (Probably a trivial point, but thought I'd note it just in case.) Ryan W 23:14, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Time separator on history page has become silly
* (cur) (last) 2007-03-21T19:21:01 Otherone (Talk | contribs | block) [rollback] * (cur) (last) 2007-03-21T15:55:17 Ryan W (Talk | contribs | block) (Re: adding links...)
IMHO, the "T" as a time separator makes it surprisingly difficult to parse this list as quickly as before, and even harder with a proportional font. I immediately went to Special:Allmessages to change the time separator to ", " (without the quotes), but it seems not to be defined there. This is occurring on central too — just hit the tab above to see! Ryan W 04:45, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- I remember this on Wikipedia too. The last option in Special:Preferences, [Date and Time], date format is in ISO 8601 format. Between 1.7 and 1.9, this was changed to a combined representation. Not sure why exactly, but it was (apparently is a better international standard or something, I forget the arguments). I'll see if I can find when it was changed.... (but you'll probably have to get used to it, or change your date preference) --Splarka (talk) 06:47, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Ah! Well, as long as there's some way to turn it off, I don't object. For all I know, people in Europe (or wherever) are completely used to it. Ryan W 23:09, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm British. I'm not. —B e H E 15:45, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Feel free to readd this to MediaWiki 1.9 if it's still a problem. Angela talk 20:03, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Blockip
The "Other time" field no longer disappears with an expiry other than "other" is selected. For example, if "1 day" is selected, the "Other time:" inputbox still remains. G.He(Talk!) 22:36, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Inline templates problem
Since the upgrade it seems that whenever a template is used inline (ie. within a sentence) the text following the template is treated as a new line, hence it is outlined in a dotted box.
For example:
Hita city is a small town of about 50,000 people...
gives:
Hita city (日田市 hita-shi?) is a small town of about 50,000 people...
As you can see the text after the template is not treated as normal text. This has definitely changed since the upgrade because it was fine before but has now messed up the formatting. See the Hita page for example. Bobo12345 05:29, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Test test test Hita city (日田市 hita-shi?) is a small town of about 50,000 people...
- The problem with Template:Nihongo here was you had a line return between the </span> and <noinclude>. See if this fixes it on Hita by removing it there too. (for inline content, there should be no line returns at all, or they should be between html comments). --Splarka (talk) 08:56, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks very much Splarka. That seems to have fixed it. Bobo12345 05:10, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
