Wikia - creating communities

Memory Alpha is a free Star Trek reference website that is hosted by Wikia.

Memory Alpha is officially not a Wikia, since it is hosted on a separate domain, and released under the Creative Commons by-nc license (details) rather than the GFDL. Instead, it is a sister project of Wikia, along with Uncyclopedia. Single login is in operation across all Wikia and Memory Alpha.

Like Wikia, Memory Alpha is being written collaboratively by the readers. The goal of this project is to become the largest, most reliable, and most up-to-date encyclopedia about everything related to the Star Trek universe.

The project was started in November 2003, by Harry Doddema and Dan Carlson.
