[edit] Title

Does Cartoons and Comics really work out for a name? In the Western world Cartoons and Comics refers to Western styled work not Eastern styled work (ie: Animanga) but both are used here on a Western portal. ~Dantman(talk) tricks May 14, 2007 @ 23:15 (UTC)

Do you want to call it "Graphical entertainment"? People in the Western world might think that refers to "Entertainment that contains graphical content", where "graphical" has a certain rated annotation. I think using differing terms to segregate art styles should just be reserved for the Western otaku elitists, whereas the otaku purists and the general public should just accept that "anime = Japanese word for cartoon" and "manga = Japanese word for comic". Some of the Western general public still has never heard of the term "anime" or "manga". -PanSola 22:35, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
T_T We can't call it Graphical Entertainment. That will be the info page for the Graphical Entertainment Wiki that will need to be created when the WGEP expands even just 1 more phase into the project. Maybe, Graphical Entertainment Hub... But it's annoying that things like that will confuse people and make them think that everything there is part of the WGEP. ~Dantman(talk) tricks May 19, 2007 @ 07:37 (UTC)
Well, I don't care if ppl can distinguish whether something is in WGEP or not. My primary concern is, whether people can figure out what the label means, whether it's "Graphical Entertainment" or "Cartoons and Comics". I would say that, considering there is Anime shown on the "cartoon network", and manga sold in Comic book stores (or comic section of book stores), and there are probably still lots of uninitated general public who has not heard of the term "anime" and "manga" and would just consider something like Dragonball (if they see it) a "Japanese cartoon/comic series", the current name of the hub is fine as is. People interested in gore and action might, on the other hand, consider the Doom FPS computer game series as "graphical entertainment". -PanSola 22:44, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Entertainment.wikia

Is Entertainment.wikia's scope supposed to cover cartoons and comics? I thought it was simply a misnomer that was restricted to TV series and Movies, as opposed to all forms of entertainment. -PanSola 22:38, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Other portals

What about a portal for each of the sections; Comics, Cartoons, and Animanga. We already have 3 categories, and there are a lot of wiki in the 3 sections. There are especially a lot of inactive Animanga wiki, perhaps a pyramid portal would help make some of the inactive Animanga wiki more active. ~Dantman(talk) tricks May 21, 2007 @ 20:37 (UTC)

The idea of a hub like this is to encourage people to browse. If somebody likes Marvel comics, they're also likely to be interested in other cartoons and comics, including anime and manga. So the hub helps people to find all of the related wikis in one place. -- Danny (talk) 20:42, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
