Wikia - creating communities
wow, I just came to the main page of this wiki and got excited to read about Doom, it's got coverage of the games, the mods, everything I'd want to know. Then I got to the end of the paragraph on the main page, and had no idea how to access any of this cool content. how about a link or two on the main page to get people started? a table of contents or something perhaps? there's just nothing there. 71.32.50.134 04:38, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, there's quite a lot on the main page or "entryway" as the doom: wikicity calls it. So, I'm confused. What were you looking for? There are different categories like and main links on the main page, like Doom (under Games and History), Items (under gameplay), people (under community) and Lumps (under technical). And then there's information about policies and guidelines and editing to help you get started. I'm not a participant in the Doom wikicity, but it seems to have a lot of good content. So I'm confused about your questions.
- May you thought the content would be here on the Central Wikicities and didn't actually go to the Doom Wikicity? Try that, and then if you still think something's missing, add it there or suggest it to that community. Good luck! --CocoaZen 13:38, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)
[edit] The new look - transitional?
Hit "Visit Doom Wiki" and you don't get there, you go to the wiki page. I trust that this is part of the revamp just mentioned on the mailing list. I approve if it is - that box will be just the ticket when it goes to the right place. Long overdue; probably why we got the first comment on this page, with CocoaZen correctly interpreting it, all of eleven months ago. The old standard paras do tend to hide the target wiki link in a lot of lines and links that new enthusiasts would not be interested in. Robin Patterson 07:33, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
