Wikia - creating communities
[edit] Adoption Request
I'll continue to check this Wikia for vandalism, but it could really use someone to adopt it. --CocoaZen 22:25, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
If there is no other Hebrew/Jewish Wiki, I would be happy to pick up the rope... CchristianTehWazzit
there would also have to be the condition that it would be in English. Hebrew being a secondary language... CchristianTehWazzit
- Keep in mind that the appropriate point of view for these two Wikia (one in English and the other is in Hebrew) is Jewish. But help on the English Judaism Wikia would be welcome. (There are multiple Wikia in Hebrew, but none about Hebrew that I know of.) --CocoaZen 18:31, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- I meant Hebrew as in the Jewish race, I think it's the correct term, I don't know. But the thing is that it needs to be factual in a way that all can be educated, I use wiki-fur whenever someone says something about furism that I don't understand, a Judaism Wiki should be useful to non-jews for info... non jews wouldn't know Hebrew, like non-furs like me don't know what 'anthro con' and the concept of Wika (the religion) and it's connection with furism is... so technically, it should have a lot of good facts in English, since that's what most people know.CchristianTehWazzit
- But all this is just me, babbling on... what the real point is, is that I would be happy to spend time on this wiki as the new founder person. the Hebrew might be hard for me, but I know some people (including a good programmer) who would love to contribute to this wiki. In other words, how do I adopt a Wiki?
seeing as I seem to be the only one who feels like it... CchristianTehWazzit
- First I need to say that I am not on the Wikia staff and do not speak for them.
- I suggest that if you want to help out with the Judaism Wikia, go for it! Go ahead and start helping. Once you've contributed some, then request administrative rights and eventually "founder" status.
- It's great that you're willing to learn and help out. It sounds like you're open to learning, which would be necessary. A bit of terminology... the Ancient Hebrews died out centuries ago. Hebrew is a language. I don't think there are any people who self-identify as Hebrews now. To call a Jewish person a Hebrew is similar to calling a Bulgarian Catholic a Latin.
- I agree that the Judaism Wikia should have facts and be a good resource for non-Jews, but that's not it's primary purpose. The Wikipedia is a good factual resource. Like other Wikia, I think the Judaism Wikia is more for community building than a fact checking resource.
- Best wishes! Hope to see some contributions from you there soon! --CocoaZen 18:22, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Ah! This clears up the whole thing, many thanks, I will do what you said... CchristianTehWazzit
