Wikia - creating communities
The Notability standard on Wikipedia is getting a lot of attention lately. I personally disagree with it. I believe that anything verifyable should be allowed, and I don't think that standard should be used on Wikia. I would love to see a Biography Wikia take off to expand on some of the articles no Wikipedia beyond the Encyclopedia level. Chadlupkes 21:05, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikia's aims
Wikia may not want to be a newspaper itself, but its various communities might well want to set their own up. The question of who is a "public figure" or what information is in the "public interest" thus becomes very variable. Most people in most communities are not public figures generally, but they may well be very prominent in their communities. For example, if someone tries to commit suicide, that - and the circumstances surrounding it, which may not be complimentary to the individual - may well be considered valid news by that fan community, no matter who the person is. --GreenReaper(talk) 20:09, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
