Mike Max: Maxinum Sports Talk on WCCO News/Talk 830

For Mike Max, life is just a contract sport. On his WCCO-AM sports talk show Sports to the Max, the Gaylord, Minn. native speaks about every issues concerning pro sports - from baseball and football to basketball and hockey - Max covers all the bases for the most provocative nightly two-hour talk/listener participation series on AM radio.

Max's relationship with WCCO-AM goes back to the mid-1990s, where covered sports for the CBS Corporation-owned radio broadcaster. To me, Max's voice is beyond listeners' reach.

To the average professional, amateur and extreme sports fan who lives in the Greater Metropolitan Minnesapolis/St. Paul area and surrounding communities and suburbs, Max is, as I put it, one of radio's greatest sports talk personalities and the embodiment of all Greater Northwestern sports talk radio broadcasters.

Max is maxed out of the gridiron and pennant and in the radio station studio - and proud of it. For Max, maximizing listeners' phone-call requests for the guests to speak out on sports-related issues and conflicts of locker-room confrontation is just what he wants all of the WCCO listeners to tune in and hear him talk with the athletes and their coaches in a clear, static-free manner.

Of all the Monday-through-Friday two-hour longform radio programs airing over broadcast airwaves, Sports to the Max is Mike Max's vision of a nightly sports talk show gone controversial. Seems like other longform radio talk/audience talk show formats could loose revenue, as I put it.

Hardwick's motto is: Careful to be cautious.
