Talk:Wikia Blogs
Wikia - creating communities
[edit] Hmm
I'm highly curious to see how the non-magazine wikias work with this. Do wikias considered "active" have fresh, newly baked articles out of the oven ever day or so? *mouth waters* -Afker 18:11, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- The larger ones have new articles every day. The smaller ones don't have to post every day if they don't have enough content. For some, like TV shows, they could post news about the show even if they don't yet have a good article on that. Angela talk 01:58, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Earthen Ring
Earthen Ring, under the Gaming category, appears as "earthenring." Is there any way this could be displayed on pages as "Earthen Ring - WoW," or something similar?
--Lilithia 21:32, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- The category system isn't working for now, so just drop the category="earthenring" part and it should work. Angela talk 01:58, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, somehow I feel Earthen Ring should either file under "Fantasy" or "Fiction", instead of "Gaming", for blogging purposes. -PanSola 20:26, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] w:c:AliceSoft
Can AliceSoftWiki qualify as an active wikia? If not, is there a general guideline for me to get an idea in terms of which direction I need to work towards making it being considered active? Thanks. -Afker 02:24, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] New sections
How much does it take to add a new wiki to a blog. Actually, how much does it take to add another group entirely? ~Dantman(talk) tricks May 9, 2007 @ 07:15 (UTC)
- We don't have any easy way to do that yet since the code is separate for each blog rather than being centralised. We're just testing it at the moment and there are quite a few problems to resolve before we make it available to more wikis. With the upgrade and new skins, this isn't the highest priority feature, so there will be quite a long testing period for it. Angela talk 02:33, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Blog request
I'd like to use the blog feature for my wiki (Spanking Art) too, but it does not fit in any of the existing blog topics. --Spankart 17:17, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] templates in blog posts
I'm going to guess that templates using <option> either don't work or somehow mesh oddly with the wiki-to-blog based on the fact that my first attempt to use one of these templates seems to be generating blog posts ad infinitum. I posted this snippet last night around 02:30 (EST). By around 04:00, I had 4 posts, by 4:30, 6, and I'm now at 10 at 08:00ish (I'm also an insomniac, but that's a separate, irresolvable issue). Anyway, I'm hoping that 10 is the final limit on the posts, since there are 10 "options" in the template. I'm so sorry - I have a built in "what else can it do?" drive that constantly gets me in trouble. --thisniss 12:18, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Templates that change are generally a problem with the blogs. I found the same with the Woot of the day template from the woot wiki - it generated a new post every time the template changed. I'll delete those duplicates from the humor blog. Angela talk 20:11, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Heh - it was the Woot of the Day template that gave me the idea that I could use a template in the blog. I saw that they had posted that and figured we could do something similar, but didn't know it had caused problems. So there you go, that's what I get for peeking in other people's wikia. While a little disappointed that we can't use our "trick" templates, I'm more disappointed because this clearly shuts down my hope that I might be able to finagle a template as a cheat for working on post-posted editing in the blog snippets. --thisniss 17:46, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Previous Entries/Next Entries links are broken?
The "previous entries" and "next entries" links (forward/back) at the bottoms of the pages are broken on the second page, and sketch out to 404 Not Found pages. The "previous entries" link on the front page works - it will direct you to a single previous page, but beyond that, the bottom links don't work. I left a longer description of the problem on the Inside Forum. --thisniss 07:02, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] SWGames
Hi, the SWGames community and I have discussed this recently and we wish to become a part of the Wikia Blogs. In my opinion, we do qualify for being an active Wikia, though we do not have very many users at the time being. We do get many edits a day, though, and have created more than one thousand articles within the year. Thank you very much. Supergeeky1 (The Cantina) (My Edits) 15:26, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] idea for blog stuff
why not hide the <blog> bits with a parser function? --Stinkfly me gooped! (talk) 19:37, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Adding StarCraft wiki to Gaming Hub
Could the StarCraft wiki be added to the blog? Thanks. PsiSeveredHead 01:56, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Genealogy: could be added to General
We are getting a lot of edits every day now. I've not worked out the mechanics but I expect I could. Robin Patterson 01:33, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Is this feature still working
There have been no updates on any blog since november 15th.--Rataube 07:44, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Illogicopedia
Could Illogicopedia possibly be added to the humor blog? That would be great. Also, is there any way we could implement something similar with the Illogiblog? -- Hindleyite 15:43, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
