Hello, Eulalia459678 told me to ask this to Angela, and I assume that is you. Maybe about a week ago I pretty much adopted the Guardians of Ga'Hoole Wikia. I'm not sure if it is a real adoption, but it would be nice if it is. There hadn't been an edit in about a month, and I made a reconstruction program. I have been working hard on that wiki, and I was wondering if you could make me into a Bureaucrat. Eu suggested it, and also my friend FireWolf787 has worked hard on the wiki. Hi, Angela. Before I explain this, I'd like to know something: What does Wikia say about the treatment of those who attempt invasion of privacy? As in "what is the punishment for the crime if it happens"?

Total Rune is somewhat back on the RuneScape Wiki, and this time, he seems much more malicious. Here's the message he posted on my talk page:

"I saw your message. Yes, you are not a computer, but no, soon, you won't have one. Sometime in the near future, your computer will be screwed. I have your IP from when you vandalized my talk page on Wikia, and I've given it to a good friend of mine who will be performing a hacking of your computer. He will soon control everything on it, and your RuneScape password will be mine. Paybacks a bitch, ain't it, Stinko? Now who's got the low IQ? 24.226.23.56 06:32, 10 September 2008 (UTC)"

I never truly vandalized his page (the intent was to make him see what I see when he spews crap on the Wiki), but now I have a feeling that no matter what I do, he won't leave me alone. I have an eerie feeling that he is able to hack, which makes me VERY concerned. Since Total lives in Canada, I'm not sure what the punishment would be if he actually does carry out this plan (since he's not an American). Granted, Total is (for the most part) all talk and no action, but my family is worried that he could take their personal information and steal one of their identities. As you can see, this threat is something my entire family is not taking lightly, so if you could contact me somehow about this matter and what the conseqences he would recieve (if any), I'd appreciate it. --{{Signatures/Stinkowing}} 12:25, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

I've responded about the issue on the RuneScape wiki. The user in question has been blocked by the local administrators. If you feel you are in danger please contact your local law enforcement office, though I don't think there is any reason to worry unless you've given out personally identifiable information. I would like to register a formal complaint about a user named ItsWalky on the http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page page,....

as a matter of fact ALL the admins there are ruthless and undermine all the fun that wikia is SUPPOSED to be about,....

They are deciding to move OFF of wikias servers, and i happened to disagree with the decision to move and i posted in their forum about it, and i was summarily banned from the site,....sounds ridiculous to me.

I am Editoroflife and recently I discovered the Non Cannon Star Wars wiki ([http://starwarsnoncanon.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page). Being a fan of Star Wars I have plenty of fan fiction and other non cannon things, which appears to be what this wikia is about. I have, on the other hand, noticed it seems to be abandoned. So, since i am confident I can bring this wiki to flourish, I would like to request sysop/bureaucrat rights on the wiki so that I can help it more. I plan on continuing to edit the wikia regardless of whether I am granted these rights or not

Unfortunately, the social features are not yet in a state for further roll out to new wikis. The tech team is busy working out the remaining problems on the wikis where they are currently activated. Update All pics, apart from the last one I put up are now back. Trouble is, there's now no upload option apart from 'multiple upload'. That option, when clicked, goes on to say that 'file uploads have been disabled for this wiki'.

'ello 'ello there :) This is Mobo reporting from the Diablo Wiki. We have some issues we'd like to discuss. There kinda not related to each other, so please point in the right direction :P Ok, first how does the spam filter block addresses?? I mean, what does it check for to block an address?? There has been a little problem at the Hellfire article in the wiki. The links to a mod's homepage are blocked. Well, next congratulations on moving the wiki but there seem to be a few glitches. But only one that I found, the Shoutbox widget doesn't update. All new messages get displayed for the moment, but revert back to sep 23rd's messages when I logoff and back on. The admin, Dan also has the same problem. Is it because of the move?? Ok, the last one now :) do disambigs need to be present in the orphaned pages?? They're not meant to be linked to right?? It gets confusing when I'm house-keeping :P Can someone edit the orphaned pages code (how, I have no idea) to not include disambiguations??? Usernames can't be changed because all wikia wikis use the same database for usernames. So if username is changed from one wiki it would change in every wiki. Because this may confuse users, usernames can't be changed. In future updates it might be possible to use different databases for usernames in every wiki but you would have to register to every wiki seperately and the number of wikis in wikia is so big that it needs a lot of work for staff to make those databases. --Sovereign92 14:41, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Angela,

I am the founder and one of the four administrators to the Star Wars: Exodus Visual Encyclopedia wikia. Recently, we have been having an issue with our quotes template where, if we have multiple lines for the quote, it would simply return with the quote's source, followed by the placeholder. For example, instead of:

{{quote|Hello, there, how are you?"<br>"I'm doing okay, and you?"<br>"Just great, thanks for asking.|Someone talking to someone else}}

producing this:

"Hello, there, how are you?"
"I'm doing okay, and you?"
"Just great, thanks for asking."
-Someone talking to someone else

it will, instead, produce this:

"Someone talking to someone else"
-{{{2}}}

Our code hasn't changed at all when this started out, and we looked at Wookieepedia and theirs appears to be working just fine. We even tried copy-pasting their code, just to see if we needed to update, but it did not help either. Furthermore, a single-line variation turns out just fine. (So, if we were to just have, "Hello, there, how are you?" in the content area, then it will turn out correctly.)

I don't know if you're the "go-to" person on this issue, but it is rather annoying to see the latter popping up instead of the former, so any assistance from you, or someone else, would be great. Thanks. --Cadden Blackthorne 18:25, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Dear Angie,

I'm having trouble copying my main page, the spam filter keeps blocing it because of the code </big></big></big>. The admins let it in on a one time but now I cannot edit it again else the filter blocks me. Is there anything you can do please.

Excuse me, Angela. I just thought of something:
Scribblewiki's dead and gone. As such, so are Userpedia (the Mariowiki wiki of users) and Usertendo (the Fantendo wiki of users). I found this, and thought... what if we merge Userpedia and Usertendo with the Wikia version of userpedia? The Wikia-Userpedia never got far, but if you would please 'crat me there, I could fix it up ship-shape and once it's done, I'll promote all the people who were crats/sysops on Userpedia and Usertendo. Hello, Angela I'm Brazilian and I would ask one thing, I thought that the Wiki site of the GTA and interesting. Is that in Brazil, the GTA has a giant public, and all of them hinder the time to say something about the game, because we do not have a source of knowledge and relevant. So for that reason, I ask you humbly, a new language in Wikia, the Portuguese. I bet that page in Portuguese, in addition to expanding the site, would reveal the knowledge about this game so popular in my country.

I'm a sysop and bureau on the Smash Wiki. Lately, we've been having some concerns that users that have been blocked are using new accounts to continue their trolling/vandalism, or using them the spam fake support for RfA's. None of us on that wiki have the ability to run a Check User. I had contacted Kirkburn, but he never responded. Is there anyway that I could get the tools or be referred to someone who can run a Check Users on some suspicious user names. Thanks a lot. I've recently set up a forum and polls on the subject of 'A better deal for more serious topic wikia?' on WikiSocial. It'd be great to get any comments you may have.

At a time when major concerns such as Google are becoming more and more interested in (and taking significant action on) topics such as the environment, climate change etc, is there a danger of Wikia looking like its getting left behind? I know you might point to investing in Green wikia, but it's specifically the issue of what wikia looks like to newcomers and juxtaposition of indiscriminate and potentially offensive advertising that really concerns me, Thanks Philralph @sca21 08:25, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Vandal at Pro Wrestling Wiki

Could something be done about a constant vandal? He has made multiple user names, and has vandalized on IPs as well. I'm not sure if it's all the same person, but the editing pattern seems to be the same. He has even claimed he might get a court order to make the admins powerless, so that he can do whatever he wants to the Wiki. See: [1], as well as the block log of the Wiki, and recent edits. I've blocked several editors, and it doesn't make a difference, he (or they) just makes a new account or uses an IP. As you may have been told, the Star Wars Fanon IRC channel (#swfanon) recently had a bit of a problem. One of the other SWF Administrators told me that on #swfanon IRC, all of the Operators had their flags removed so they could do nothing but basic operator commands, not being able to add to the Op list or anything else. This happened four days ago, within the same hour. The only ones who were not affected by this were the users Manticore, Jack Phoenix, you and possibly one other person. I'm told that Wikia and Freenode are clearing it out and should be fine by tomorrow, and that they won't be able to do it again, but if at all possible I would appreciate it if you would be able to tell me who did this so we can deal with this matter in accordance with our IRC policies. However, which seems strange and self-contraditing, another Chinese Uncyclopedia (non-wikia, http://uncyclopedia.tw) is not blocked. Without the contribution of Uncyclopedians from PRC, Chinese Uncyclopedia would never be complete.

As a result, we believe that http://zh.uncyclopedia.wikia.com can be unblocked by Chinese goverment through negotiation. Can someone help out with images at the Wrestling wiki: [2], a majority of the images uploaded are just taken from a German site. I don't know German, so I havent bothered to go to the site. I'm not sure if the site knows the user is doing it, or if the site even has permission to use those photos in the first place. From the looks of it, the editor just wants the Wrestling Wiki to have images right away: so he just takes them from the site. I've suggested using ones from Wikipedia (which are usually fine), but he refuses to listen. I don't know much about images and the policies about them, so I need some help. Hi,

Sorry to take up your time, because I know you're one of the top people at Wikia, but I was wondering if Wikia would let projects switch to Creative Commons licenses? And by that, I mean the freest of licenses, no NC junk.

I started a Wikia wiki a few weeks back, and have purposely not told anyone about it yet, to build up a structure for the site, so when I let the community of people interested in the topic know, there isn't utter anarchy, but controlled anarchy.

As such, I'm the only contributor to the wiki (aside from a Wikia staff member that deleted some auto-created pages) and I'd like to change the wiki to CC-BY-2.5-CA (Creative Commons Attribution License 2.5, Canada). (The Canada part is because the wiki is about Canada's Wonderland, a theme park, and 99% of contributors to the wiki and readers of the wiki would be Canadian anyway. This is a known server level problem. Our technical staff is working on a fix for this. You can avoid this problem by creating an account and logging in before making your edits, then you contributions will be attributed to your name, and not your IP. [edit] Copyright violation at Chinese Uncyclopedia

Dear Angela, we found that Chinese Uncyclopedia is being copied by 疯狂百科 (translated as "Crazy Encyclopedia") with unknown copyright status. Our site uses CC-by-nc-sa copyright. One of our adminsitrators contacted the site admin of "Crazy Encyclopedia", however we got unfriendly feedback from that site (blocked us), and even attempted to bring up a flame war and vandalize the pages at Chinese Uncyclopedia (and Traditional Chinese Uncyclopedia, which is not under the umbrella of Wikia). Our administrators had to apply a site-wide block for anonymous users during nights (UTC+8).

You may already know that Copyright violation is extreamly common in PR China. One of our administrators believe that this is the consequences of PR China imposing information censorship (including blocking Chinese Uncyclopedia), and he makes the following request to Wikia:

The point we wish to raise here is, not the vandalism happened, but rather the copyright violation issue. We wish Wikia to report to Chinese officials about copyright violation of "Crazy Encyclopedia" as a side effect of blocking Chinese Uncyclopedia.

He believes that if let the situation being unsettled, the others Wikia sites will be losers of copyright violation. Sorry for being a little bit tough, becasue our administrator felt that the situation cannot be tolerated any more. --Leeyc0 12:37, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Dear Angela! We wrote az article in the Hungarian Spamwiki (http://hu.spam.wikia.com) about a spamware product, X.R.u.m.e.r (without dots, I transformed the word because the spam filter blocked it). The article borned in Dec 31. 2007.

Oh man! I just remembered that wasnt the right wikia!

The right wikia is The skatoony wikia As i am the founder on it i think it is fair to have forum admin rights.

It was actually c0ngratz406 who made it but i use this account for all wikia's now.

I have update the Dofus central wikia page with the not so new template used by the bot, i have file various reports on issues with 2 wikis where the main page was disappear/delete.

Any way to the point when i click on the Russian Dofus it takes me to the Italian Dofus, dont know if this is a bug or the wiki has finally disappear, since i cant get to the ru.dofus page i cant file a report, if you can please check it and inform me so i can delete the entry from the Dofus page here at central. Hi. I think Turkish just never got started which is why they have a bad main page right now. I will try to get someone to adopt the French one and fix the problems there. The Russian one seemed to exist by accident, so I've removed it from the list for now, but if any Russian speakers want to start that, I can reopen it. Hello Angela,

I just adopted the Left Behind Wiki awhile ago and I just came across another wiki that I think should be merged with mine. The wiki is called Left Behind Kids Wiki and it was supposed to contain information on a spin-off series of the Left Behind series, and the Left Behind series is what my wiki contains information about. The other wiki has been abandoned for quite awhile now, and I was really hoping that it could get merged. I don't know who to contact about merging wikis so I just came to you.

If the wiki is going to be able to be merged with mine, can I keep the URL of the old wiki and have it redirect to where I want to merge the wiki into mine, and then have the old wiki be totally erased?

Well, personally, I'm firmly in the "Stick with www.wowwiki.com" camp, and there are a number others in that camp (including some who are or have been major contributors over the years, and would be a highly damaging loss if they mean what they say about not being interested in continuing if the domain changes). I absolutely do not want to be accused of putting words in other people's mouths, so interpret the comments of others as you see fit, I'm just calling it as I see it, you have the links to form your own conclusions. Frankly, for those of us who abhor the change, I think time is unlikely to make much difference to our general opinions, although it might soothe some wounds sufficiently that they do not call it quits (who knows, it's not for me to say or predict, but I'd hate to see good long term people leave in protest).
For those on a more middle ground, some more time couldn't really hurt - the strong comments are already out there, time isn't going to make that much stronger. Where time would definitely help is for those who might be on holiday, busy with life, not paying attention, etc. If it could be pushed back to the end of January (i.e. approx 1 month to fully consider, with a clear deadline in place), there's considerably less chance of someone feeling left out, and far less scope for people to feel generally aggrieved at the timescale itself. From a UK perspective, roughly 20 Dec to 10 Jan is somewhat of an abnormal period where people are not following their normal routines, so pushing the whole thing from deadline announcement to completion within that period is far from optimal.
I know the concept has been floating around for several months, but it was not so obvious once the Village pump had rolled onwards to other topics, and things had largely dried up "until at least January". It came as somewhat of a surprise to learn than it was happening in 9/10 days time. Yes, it does not exactly contradict the previous statement, but it's still very sudden to go from effectively "sometime / maybe" to "imminent / now".
So, getting back to your question. For me, personally, additional time isn't really going to change things or my feelings on the matter. For some other WoWWikians, it may well help in a number of ways. For all WoWWikians, it sends us the message that Wikia has had adequate time to reconsider (even if the outcome is the same), while fully aware of the negative feeling at the highest level.

[edit] SERIOUS trouble at RuneScape Wiki

Hello, Angela; it's Stinkowing again. This is a VERY serious problem that only recently came up. One of our editors has found a site that is copying EVERYTHING on our wiki (and a few others) word-for-word, impersonating users, and claiming it's all their work.

What's the BIG problem, however, is not any of the previously-mentioned violations. No, the worst part is that this site endorses illegal activities, from making bots to play RuneScape for you (which are illegal, since they most often sell those bots for real life money) to endorsing "private servers" which are usually scams to steal players in-game passwords. In fact, from the looks of it, they MADE these bots and fske servers, which according to Jagex (the company that makes RuneScape) could land them in prison (not to mention get the players that use them enough blackmarks to have them banned nine times over).

I would like you to know that Charitwo and a few others on IRC tonight claimed the site was harmless (with Charitwo claiming that the site had the same "lisence" or whatnot), but obviously, the illegal activities (and the site in general) need to be eliminated. This is a VERY serious offence, and we as players AND editors are not taking this lightly.

Have you tried to make contact with the site? Recentchanges is dead for the last 30 days so maybe someone was just trying something out and then abandoned it and would be happy to take it down. You could try explaining to them that they're not adhering to the license but from the look of the site, I don't think that's going to matter. Hi Angela,

I'm the founder of the Toronto Maple Leafs Wiki, and I was just curious as to how you select the wikis for the featured wikis footer at the bottom of the page. Do you select wikis that are in need of growth, or that are focused on a particularly relevant topic in society, or something else entirely? I ask only because I have been having a difficult time creating a community for the Leafs Wiki, as I have found little immediate response from communities such as forums or message boards. It might just take time, I am unsure, but I would be interested in any information you could give me on a better way to promote the wiki, aside from bringing it to the attention of online communities such as the ones listed above.
