[edit] Links on the home page
Can you please comment on Forum:Links on the home page, Angela? I'd like to go ahead with sannse's suggestion but I'd like to hear if you have any objections. --Spankart 13:02, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- Sannse is going to work on a new layout for the main page at Template:Home/temp where that can be added in since a new section doesn't fit with the current one. Angela talk 16:48, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User Rights
Hey, sorry to both you again, but I accidentally made El Pardak a bureaucrat and I think you people are the only guys who can change it. Can you take away the bureaucrat position?--X66x6623:17, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. I'll do that now. I assume you want me to leave his admin rights? Angela talk 23:31, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah. Thanks!--X66x6623:32, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dismiss tech
Hi, I sent a contact form on "dismiss tech", and since you replied, I decided to chat here. My objective with the dismiss tech is so that I could make a large blurb on the main page for newcomers so that they can get oriented, and which could be dismissed by returning users so that it would clean up the clutter. Sorry, I was unclear with what results I hoped for. Since I didn't see you make any changes on the novelas wikia, I assume it's done from whatever functions you have access to. Does that mean that the "tech" I'm aiming for is not possible? If it is, could you direct me to where there's information on how to make it work myself? Thanks so much!- I thought what you wanted was a way to dismiss whatever is in the site notice? Or do you want to hide text on an actual page? Angela talk 14:39, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikia Highlights
Hello Angela, I was wondering could the Puppet Wikia be on the Wikia Highlights. We have over 350 articles and lots of content. Phillip chat 20:15, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Phillip. If you mean the highlights on the home page, I think you need to get some more users involved with your wiki first. An alternative for newer wikis is the Wikia news box. You can suggest a wiki for addition to that at Wikia news box suggestions. Angela talk 20:18, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Bioniclepedia
Hello Angela, I'm the current admin of Bioniclepedia(bionicle.wikia.com). You remember how KFan II went inactive and I took over? Well, I'm not a beurucrat, and I would like to have beurocrat status to manage Bioniclepedia. Could you do that for me? LegoLover 00:00, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- Bureaucrat status just lets you make other users into admins. It doesn't enable you to manage or own the wiki and is not meant as a a reflection of status or hierarchy. Are there people that the community has chosen to be admins? Angela talk 00:42, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yes. I have appointed a new admin to help manage Bioniclepedia. LegoLover 02:02, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WikiTubia
Hi, I requested a wiki for YouTube and video sharing related content. I hope if you grant my request that we can attract a few people who know a thing or two about wikicodes so as to smooth the running of the site. This will enable us to focus on creating articles. [edit] From Wikitech
Hi Angela,
sorry for my English if it's not so good... I'm Italian.
I open a request of Wiki...WIKITECH.
It's arrived to me an email with some modify that You make on my open request page but i don't understand so good what consist this...
There are some problem with the reques of my wiki? Something in my proposal it's wrong?
I'm waiting for an answer. Regards Alessandro WikiTech
- I'm not sure what you mean. I haven't made any edits to your Wikitech request yet. However, I will now I've seen it since that wiki already exists at tech.wikia.com. Angela talk 14:58, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] From Zakjedi
I just wanted to let you know, I found out who Koyimateil is (the user that uses the same computer as me at the library). He's someone I knew in school. He's purely a vandal and should be blocked. [edit] Lyrics Wiki
About the Song Lyrics Wiki I suggested:
Are all lyrics copyrighted so that nobody can even paste them on a website without permission? V-Rex 02:53, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, usually lyrics are copyrighted. You can find some freely licensed music through creative commons though this includes music that can't be used commercially, so isn't allowed on Wikia or Wikipedia. Angela talk 03:17, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- But why it isn't allowed to just write out lyrics on a website without getting money for it or anything? V-Rex 03:22, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Because of copyright law. Free content licensing is meant to help since it allows the copyright holder to say they are ok with you writing out their lyrics on a website without getting money for it (or they can choose to say you can do it even if you are getting money for it). Creative Commons explains more about this. Angela talk 04:16, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] You might have to semi-protect your user and talk pages
That would stop the vandalism. Will (Talk - contribs) 06:15, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
- It wouldn't stop it. It would simply make the vandal move onto a less watched page and take longer before it was reverted. Angela talk 11:06, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Changing Wikia "Star Wars Combine" Links
You left me a message on my Compedia Wiki about updating the links on the Wikia site. How would i go about doing this as i don't want to mess up any system you have in place. Also of course I'll have to wait a while for the spammers to stop so it can be removed from the blacklist. (It's so well organized.) WillSWC 01:47, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Spammer
Either You or someone pretending to be you came to the Compedia at my server and said i should change the links here, thus the last message. Then i gave You admin and just this morning I found every page on the compedia. If this was you you can expect a Perm. Ban and I will NEVER return to Wikia however if this was not you I am sorry. I've lost every page and my own account was banned. I have to go admin the MySQL to fix it so its offline for a while. WillSWC 21:04, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- This was not me! I expect if you check the IP you'll find it's the same person who has been spamming Wikia sites with your URL. Angela talk 21:11, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- Wonderful to hear that. I couldn't believe you would. The Compedia's pretty much in pieces so we're banning the IP and then wiping the database because this spammer trashed about every page on the Wiki and deleted revisions. It was pure luck that i decided to login today. WillSWC 21:31, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yah, They merged most of the histories but its rather ok because we've removed them, and are in the process of restoring backups I made last month. they're a little old but better then the ASCII we have there now. Again sorry for thinking it was you. I should have known better. I have no idea why this hacker has taken such interest in the Compedia... WillSWC 21:50, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cal Wiki
Hi, Angela. I've been very zealously building, along with others, the Calendars Wikia. Thanks for popping in and helping with some spamming, etc. It occurs that no one is a Bureaucrat or Admin, and it's not possible to delete pages or deal with serious vandalism at this point. Can I assume that task, please? Thanks! - Nhprman 22:35, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your prompt attention! - Nhprman 02:51, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Army wiki
I was browsing Central by using "Random page" function when I came across Army wiki. Well, the idea is good, but that wiki is a total desert! No admins or bureacurats, no pages, no logs...nothing! So, should it be closed down? I think that army stuff could go to WarWiki since armies are an important thing in wars. After all, the title of army wiki is "Army wiki - U.S Department of Defence wiki" and there are lots more armies than U.S Army or U.S Navy... :) --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 15:24, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- I recently emailed the founder about this to see if he still wants it. It might be best to merge it with military. Angela talk 16:00, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Renaming
Not sure where to ask this...*shrug* hope this is the right place. I know on Wikipedia there is a special page which allows Beauracrats to change other users' usernames. Do other wikis have this userpage? I can't seem to find it...lol :) this is what prompted me to ask... JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 17:45, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, but this isn't possible on Wikia since we have a shared user database. The user will need to relogin with a new name. Angela talk 20:51, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikia Anime Project's Technical Changes
A while back when I was starting to setup the Wikia Anime Project I posted 2 topics Forum:Anime Network and Forum:Wikia Anime (and Manga?) Project. I had requested 2 sitename/project namespace changes for the project. On the Animepedia Anime was going to be changed to Animepedia, to stop conflictions with interwiki, the possible future system for linking, and it's name being to generic. Also on the Narutopedia Naruto Wiki was going to be changed to Narutopedia. But because of what happened with Essjay and how long it's been, I'm not sure if the requests (Along with the issue of +'s not working in titles, which is alreay adressed in bugzilla) have got to the tech team. Dantman (Talk) 04:58, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- Interwikis should never conflict with project namespaces anyway. They do right now, but that's top of the list to be fixed next week. Is the plus problem bug 395 or is there another report of this somewhere? Angela talk 07:10, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- The actual thing about a conflicting thing is how the project spans multiple wikia. Anime: is an interwiki which leads to the animepedia. But it's also the project namespace for the animepedia. So while Anime:Naruto will lead you to the naruto article on the animepedia from any of the other wiki, which is quite a nice linking scheme. Using that on the animepedia will actualy bring you to Anime:Anime:Naruto. The issue lies within the fact that there are a lot of templates which are mirrored exactly between the wiki. My specific problem with the + was that there is a anime called Blood+, which while an article could be located at Blood there is also the Rockman.EXE set of anime. Of which go Rockman.EXE, Rockman.EXE Axcess, Rockman.EXE Stream, Rockman.EXE Beast, and Rockman.EXE Beast+ where Rockman.EXE Beast and Rockman.EXE Beast+ are different series. So without that + character fix (which I did see in bugzilla later after I stated about it) we'll have an issue with those anime, but yes that's the issue and it's nice to see that the fix has already been explained. The big reason that Anime: won't work as a namespace in the future is because of a system I outlined in the second forum topic. The intent is to create a system which will allow anime in the project to be linked to specialy from any wikia using a special system. Anime:Ranma 1/2:Ranma could lead to Anime:Ranma 1/2/Ranma, while Anime:Naruto:Naruto Uzumaki would actualy lead to w:c:Naruto:Naruto Uzumaki. Basicly meaning that any anime can be linked to using the same style of link and it would work whether the anime has it's own wikia or is located in the animepedia. But the issue is that for that to work, the system needs to use Anime: inside of the animepedia and /$1 in the interwiki will need to be changed to /Anime:$1. Dantman (Talk) 08:09, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
I forgot to mention it because it slipped my mind, but among the things I requested was also google analytics for the 3 wikia in the project. I'm wondering how many people are actually viewing the Animepedia, I don't know if the InuYasha Wiki is actualy 99% dead, and it would be good to know the common browsers used to make sure the common browsers support @import inside of another @import which is used to include global styles into the wikia in the project.
- Animepedia: UA-1285044-1
- Narutopedia: UA-1285044-2
- InuYasha Wiki: UA-1285044-3
- Is there some sort of predefined limit to how many analytics codes can be put on a page? I like the analytics cause It also tells me the geographic location of the majority of viewers (good for directing content) and also what browsers readers and editors use so that I can make sure the sites are compatible with them. ~Dantman(talk) 09:25, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- The limit is one of time. Michael Davis, Wikia's COO, was adding these manually and due to the number of requests decided this was no longer practical, so we are working on better ways to get the stats out to all wiki users and not just to people who "own" the analytics ID. Angela talk 16:31, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- I see. I'd half to look deep into the technical stuff to come up with a permanent solution. Which you're probably already on. But don't you think a good temporary solution would be a easy way to add analytics ID's to the page. Basically MediaWiki:Analytics_ids would have a list of id's. Each line which matches the regex "/^UA-[0-9]+-[0-9]+$/im" would be pulled out and placed inside of it's own "_uff = 0;_uacct="___ID___"; urchinTracker();". It would basically give the admins of any Wikia the ability to add new Analytics, and it would allow them to also remove inactive ones. ~Dantman(talk) 00:34, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism on Wikigrounds
Wikigrounds has suffered large amounts of spam over the past few weeks, most of it coming from 4chan users, as they recently planned to raid Newgrounds. I have protected the entire site twice (Known as a site lockdown on wikigrounds) and permanantly banned anybody who participates in them. I want to know if there is a way to change the site so that only registered users may edit pages. This will help a lot in preventing any future spam.--Fire 14:31, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- It's vandalism, not spam. I'll reply at w:c:newgrounds:user talk:Fire. Angela talk 16:01, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] LOTR Wiki
Hi Angela! I'm a user from the LOTR wiki under the name KingAragorn. It seems that our wiki has no sysops active at the moment, not since january anyway. I was wondering if you could make one of our active editors who have already proved themselves, to become a sysop - I suggest userRazor77 who has definetly proved him/herself a worthy contributor.
Please reply on my LOTR wiki user talk page. KingAragorn
- Hi again , I tried contacting User:Robin_Patterson on his wikia talk page, but has not replied, and as for User:FireBird his only contribuutions was to make the first main page in early 2005.
I'll let you know if they contact me in the future, and please reply on my talk page again. thanks, KingAragorn

[edit] New namespaces for muzyka
Hi. Please add the following three namespaces on Muzyka:
- Data
- Dyskusja daty
- Lista
- Dyskusja listy
- Przypis
- Dyskusja przypisu
Please pay attention on Polish declination (data -> daty, lista -> listy, przypis -> przypisu). You could also change Forum talk to Dyskusja forum, without declination this time. All prefixes are empty and addition won't crash with anything. Thanks. Szoferka 05:02, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Clock Crew Wikia
Dear Angela -
With regard to this Wikia or, more specifically, Clock Crew Talk Page - you were the last Team member to touch this Wikia, so I bring this to your attention, as I do not know if it is vandalism or not. And I do want to bring it to someone's attention if it is vandalism. Very confusing.
I respect your schedule, even though it might not seem like it: should I bring these matters to some other Team member's attention?
One last item: As you may or may not know, I have been going through all Wikias to see what is what. Many presume that visitors know what the subject matter of the Wikia is. Like Clock Crew - I don't know if it is a social group, an encyclopedia entry on time-pieces or a Clockwork Orange movie Fan site. It would be most helpful if someone could change the initial creation template to include language to encourage the site founder to include a one or two sentence description of the Wikia before they do anything else - is it about a comic, or game, or a computer programming language. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
Anyway - thanks for your time. I'm all over the place these days, so please reply here (on this page) or the Clock Talk page - I'll try to watch that too.
Respectfully,
Zephyrinus 22:15, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- The wiki is related to Newgrounds which has also suffered vandalism lately, so I expect a lot of this is vandalism. Considering there are no active admins on the site, it might be worth merging this with newgrounds since that wiki is a bit better able to look after itself. I'll talk to the community there about it. Angela talk
- Again, should I bother you with vandalism stuff? Is there someone else in charge of that?
- This is something else I direct toward you: Proboards Wikia - Lala page. First this appears to be abandoned, but I'm more concerned about: threatening to kill someone is a criminal offence, isn't it? Should Wikia be a partner to this activity, even if in jest? I direct this query to you because you restored this post after the spambot removed it. Most things you do I understand, but this I don't - not that this is my job. Nevertheless, my strength as a "newbie" is that I can "be bold" and raise these kinds of questions; and perhaps these kinds of questions should be raised from time to time.
- And do, please, remember that I am sincere when I sign . . .
- Respectfully,
- Zephyrinus 22:21, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- It's fine for you to come directly to me, especially if the wiki concerned has no active admins, though you could also post to the forums about it. The lala page was moved from Talk:Main Page and was just an odd comment from an unregistered user so I've deleted it. Angela talk 22:43, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your graciousness.
- I must apologise for posting these comments on your Talk Page. Since my comments questioned the propriety of your actions, I think it would have been more proper for me to send you a personal e-mail rather than post to your public user page. I will try to be more careful in the future. But as my comments were in public, so must my apology be.
- I expect that being a public wiki-figure subjects you to criticism - criticism which is more than offset by well wishes and thanks.
- Respectfully, Zephyrinus 23:46, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Health Wiki
Just as matter of curiosity, what happened to the original health wiki? The address seems to lead to an entirely new website with no connection to user database. --Kirk 22:35, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- The wiki has moved over to the ArmchairGM format. I think any content is still there, but with a new type of main page that automatically displays the wiki's best content based on ratings made by visitors and editors. I'll get sannse to explain more since she has been working on these new magazine-style sites. Angela talk 02:08, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. The content is being added to the new wiki today (all being well). That will be the starting point of the content for the "book" part of the wiki, which is accessed by the tabs at the top. At the moment it will be a bit buried under all the blank templates waiting to be filled in - but it will be there -- Sannse 19:52, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- It's been added. The old main page was added and then deleted (at "old main page") so it can be recovered if anyone wants it. The other content is at the same page name as before -- Sannse 20:55, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Scheibenwelt - Wiki
Hi, I'm Bravomike (one of my bigger userpages is . /de/wiki/Benutzer:Bravomike here at the German Version of Memory Alpha).
I'm interestet in the german Scheibenwelt-Wikia and created the first account there more than 3 months ago. I also left some notes there (one of them got deleted by you when you cleaned up some vandalism ;-) ) and edited some articles, but there was no response by anybody. I also tried to contact the founder of the wiki given at the Scheibenwelt-page here at wikia.com, but there was no response, too. His userpage is empty, and he don't seems interested in "his" wiki anymore, because if he has visited in the last weeks he would have noticed my work and my questions at his user-talk.
Could you please contact somebody responsible for this wiki, and if there is no one to contact, is there a way to "adopt" this wiki (sysop and that stuff)?
PS: Please tolerate my horrible English ;-)--Bravomike 19:02, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'll make you an admin there since the founder has never even edited. Angela talk 21:24, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] F1, The Formula 1 Wiki
Hi Angela, A week ago I requested a new wiki called F1, The Formula 1 Wiki. What I didn't realise was that it would take as longer than a week for a wiki request to be accepted. The reason for this message is that I wondered if you could have a look at my request for me, at your earliest convenience, as I had hoped to get the wiki up and running before the 1st Grand Prix of the season; which is this Sunday... Many Thanks, Simon...
- I need to know your email address to make the wiki. Please can you put it in your preferences? Angela talk 17:44, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] SW Battlefront Wikia

[edit] Admin privileges for ZyMOS
Hi, Angela.
I have found a message from ZyMOS on my talk page, asking for admin privileges for deleting the unnecessary pages. I think there really are many of the pages that are pretty much empty, so, I think it is a good thing to do.
So, I agree, but do not remember how I could give him the privileges, particularly on the English version of the HowTo wiki. I think I should be able to do that by myself, right?

[edit] American Dad Wikia
Hi. Why is w:c:americandad called "American Dad Wikia" I thought it was a convention to include simply "Wiki" to the name of each Wikia. Like "Star Wars Wiki", "Wiki 24", and so on. ― Thailog 21:23, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- It used to be, but we're moving to calling them Wikia now since changes to the software in the future will make "Wikia" something much better than "just Wiki". Angela talk 16:31, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] .Hack//Wiki
Over at .Hack//wiki, CRtwenty blocked my newly made alternate account, and my IP address, when all l did was edit only those two, after Kulaguy blocked my main account for removing my comments, all were blocked for one week, starting today and ending on the 22 of March.--Rhinokabuterimon 21:58, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- If you were blocked, you should not be making new accounts to circumvent that block. Please just wait until your block expires. Angela talk 16:31, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- They have blocked Kite X and The Ellimist, telling them to cool off for 3 days, and all Kite X did was make The Ellimist angry enough to say dirty words, but they should block vandals, like Willie on Wheels or OWTFBBQ, not users who were in an fanboy war over an female fictional character with green hair(Natsume Ougro), and makes them(Kulaguy, and CRtwenty) mad enough to block my two accounts plus my IP address, to quote Kulaguy idiotic and just one of the reasons why you're blocked, see, he called me an idiot, but l am not the one who did that.

[edit] Changing the Footer
I'm an editor from Halopedia, and we need (well, just want, actually) a link in the footer to our disclaimer. But the footer is in MonoBook.php, which I don't think local sysops have access to, so if you could just add 'disclaimer' to the list, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! guesty-persony-thingy Image:GPersonyThingy.jpeg 22:29, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure there's a way to do this for one wiki anymore. An alternative way is to link the disclaimer in your MediaWiki:Sidebar. Angela talk 16:31, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] A Shopping/Consumer guide magazine
Hi Angela,
I sent you an E-mail about this issue but I think it came out somewhat cryptic so I will try again here :-)
I saw the new Wiki Magazines and I really like their format. I think this format would be much more suitable for a Shopping/Consumer guide wiki (that is like the English shopping wiki and the Hebrew Kwish wiki) than the conventional "Wikipedia like" format. In fact, some of the feedback I got about Kwish would indicate exactly that.
Thus I would like to offer to initiate a multi-language shopping magazine. We can start by copying over the content from Kwish and from the English shopping wikia. I think in this manner we can attract many more readers than with the current format.
Please let me know what you think of this.
Many thanks, --Oshani 07:45, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- We're not making new wikis in this format just yet except for certain magazines that we are launching, but the plan is to get these new features more integrated with Wikia so that any wiki can choose to use them. I'm not sure exactly when that will happen though. Angela talk 16:31, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] New namespaces for Nonsensopedia
Hi. Please add these two namespaces on Nonsensopedia:
- Słownik
- Dyskusja słownika
- Poradnik
- Dyskusja poradnika
"ł" is the same letter that is in Nonźródła namespace. Thanks. Szoferka 09:26, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Religions user boxes
Is a wikia allowed to restrict the use of religions user boxes?--Herbsewell 15:17, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
- There's no overall Wikia policy on that. It's up to each community to make such rules if they think they need them. Angela talk 18:09, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Intrigued about ComputerRPG
I'm intrigued regarding the creation of a new wikia that has no founder and no content. Specifically, I'm interested in figuring out how the ComputerRPG wikia will be able to distinguish itself from being merely a strict subset of either GameInfo and/or Gaming. From my current perspective, specialization of computer gaming topics by game genre does not seem to have an advantage (unless a particular genre is monopolized by a single series of games, which isn't the case for computer RPGs).
Additionally, it is not clear to me whether ComputerRPG is meant to simply constrast with paper-n-pencil RPGs, and therefore include Consol RPGs; or if ComputerRPG is meant to specifically focus on RPGs on computers only and not consols. At least, according to the current wikipedia, Computer RPGs and Consol RPGs are distinct (there has been a merge proposal that hasn't been going anywhere, and my current perspectives supports not merging but rather renaming both articles to reflect a difference in culture/style as opposed to a difference in specific hardware).
If at least part of the vision of the person who proposed (but didn't found) the ComputerRPG wikia can be revealed to me and attracts me, I might be interested in contributing to the point of being eligible to apply to be the founder for it. -Afker 05:53, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- A lot of people request a new wiki for an RPG which is too small to have its own wiki. I'd always been suggesting to those people that they start at rpg.wikia.com but that wiki is now refusing them since they want to focus on pen and paper RPGs, so a new home for all those small RPGs was needed. I thought console RPGs would fit into this topic. Would a name other than computerrpg help show that this is for all RPGs other than paper ones? Angela talk 10:11, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm... "Digital RPG", while a term nobody uses whatsoever, would definitely clear up the ambiguity. Though I'd definitely let the consol people have more say over the naming (if most of them don't mind being called "Computer RPG", then the ambiguity issue is relatively moot).
- If those small RPG communities used to have a foothold on rpg.wikia and their pages haven't been deleted, I'll go take a look to get a feel on if I'd be interested helping with their new home. -Afker 10:25, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Back. Looks like there won't be any migrators. From your above description, it'd sound like the "new home" would be either be the equivalent of a Computer RPG-specific scratchpad (if they cover background lore, story etc for the game universe), or an RPG subset of GameInfo (if they only cover walkthroughs and guides). In either case my vision don't reveal how two random small RPG games (say, Ultima 2 vs Final Fantasy 8) would be more related (in a way that makes it natural to put them on the same wiki) than two random games in general (say Grand Theft Auto 2 vs Metal Gear Solid 3). Thus I would actually encourage sending them to scratchpad, GameInfo, Gaming, or encourage the wiki to be about an entire game series (if the game in question belongs to a series sufficiently big to earn a wiki), depending on the nature of the wiki being requested. And I wouldn't treat a request for a wiki on an RPG game too small any differently from request for a wiki on any other genre of computer/consol game too small (or create a "Computer Action Games wiki" for all the action games too small to have their own).
- Just my 2 cents. -Afker 10:48, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Talkpage Template Mistake.
Angela, I've been setting up a new template for my talkpage and archives. And I just archived my talkpage by moving it to the archive (The template automatically changes the text) And I used the link given to go to to what was supposed to be the editpage for a new talkpage. Unfortunately instead of a new usertalkpage location. It pointed me to Dantman and ended up making me create a new talkpage there. But because a move was used, I can't use move to move that page overtop the talkpage. Could you please move Dantman to User talk:Dantman then delete the redirect that will be created at Dantman. ~Dantman(talk) 20:21, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pirates of the Caribbean file upload problem
I can't seem to access Upload on the Pirates of the Caribbean wiki as "The upload directory (/images/pirates/images) is not writable by the webserver." Any idea how to fix this? Also, is there any way to get an interwiki link for the PotC wiki, similar to Wikipedia:Wikipedia and Starwars:Star Wars? Please reply over at talk:Kwenn. Thanks - Kwenn 16:37, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- A few are like this since the upgrade. I'll add it to the list of things that need fixing. Angela talk 16:55, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks muchly - Kwenn 12:12, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] $wgNamespacesToBeSearchedDefault on The Gaiapeda
I just thought about it now. But perhaps it would be a good idea if Item(100), NPC(102), and Map(104) were added to $wgNamespacesToBeSearchedDefault on The Gaiapedia. ~Dantman(talk) Mar 22, 2007 @ 05:58 (UTC)

[edit] Runescape Wiki
Hiya, I need to get you (or whoever) to add the Variables Extension and Parser Functions to Runescape Wiki, I believe that we don't have access to Local Settings.php or the other php files so I have to ask you to do it. If this is not the case, please point me in the right direction and I'll do it myself! Cheers Eucarya Talk
- ParserFunctions is already working on Runescape. Is there any problem with it? We're not using VariablesExtension anywhere on Wikia. Can you explain what it's needed for that you couldn't do with the existing ParserFunctions? Angela talk 22:40, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] IRC channel cloak
After a bit of discussion, I decided to come over you and ask for a IRC channel cloak. My main IRC nickname is Jack_Phoenix and the secondary (that was required, per Wikia IRC channel cloaks) is JackP|Away and they're linked to each other. Would the cloak then be like JackP@wikia/Jack-Phoenix or something? (As you can see, I'm no IRC expert, as I've never really had to use it.) Thanks in advance! :) --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 21:06, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I'm about to leave .Hack//Wiki forever
Kulaguy's gone off the deep end, and everyone there has flamed Kite X, since he never added anything, and forced him to leave, not to mention, blocked him and me for annoying Kulaguy and CRtwenty, and all l wanted to do was remove all of my comments, and then leave afterwards. It's no fun and games, editing anything, isn't the same with those two, doing whatever they want, even blocking normal users like me, who have added stuff to .Hack//Wiki.--Daipenmon 15:32, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

hi, i dont think you know me, as im mostly on Halopedia, but i just wanted to ask you if you or someone could make an irc channel for Halopedia. please let me know if this is possible. thanks, Phil.e. 16:50, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, #Halopedia does exist, but it's just not on the Wikia CGI IRC gateway list. G.He(Talk!) 17:52, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- This is working now and is listed in the Wikia IRC gateway. Angela talk

[edit] 5 inactive Wikias
These 5 wikias are inactive and ought to be deleted. 91.35.174.195 04:44, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion, but I think a Polish psychology and French blogging wiki both have a lot of potential to be active in future. Mjakmilosc was started by a member of Wikia staff. Gydnia is already listed for deletion (it was a typo of Gdynia). Easyvalley was only requested last month, so there's still time for this one to grow. Angela talk 04:48, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bay Area Film Thanks/Sysop question
Hey Angela,
First off, thanks for making our little project a real wiki. I didn't expect it to happen so soon! I do have a question: we don't have a sysop right now. I'm not sure if that's one of the things that I should just be patient on or if there's another step left to go.
I'm the project lead, so if I could get sysop access that would be great! Coxmage
- Sorry, I forgot to do that. I'll make you an admin now. You can make other users admins using w:c:bayareafilm:Special:Makesysop. Angela talk 22:59, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] X-men
You asked about the X-Men Yearbook Wiki Site in terms of merging -- bad idea. Ours is based on self re-imagined Marvel characters. A lot of the history has altered instead of what's featured in all the Marvel comics.
- I see. Wikia would be happy to host this separately from our existing X-men wiki if you like. We also host the Marvel Database Project which you might be interested in. Angela talk 00:33, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sparkla
Hi,I asked Sparkla the following on a email.
I found out about a Jurassic Park wiki a couple of weeks ago and I have tried to contact the founder but He has not been on in a couple of months. I have contributed a lot and was wondering if I could adopt that wiki. I would love to be a beuracrat and I would love to run the site. Thanks a lot, Chaosman92
He replied :
You should probably hold a mini-election to see whom everyone can agree on, and then contact us again with the results so we can implement them.
Regards, Splarka
He is now saying that not enough people voted and that I can only be an admin. I have done nothing wrong to get this punishment. He embarassed me on JP wiki and made me look bad. All but one user voted. I should be a beuracrat.

[edit] Checking User Pages
Angela - I asked about one of the new user pages and received this response. Just letting you know in case it's useful. --CocoaZen 03:06, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for checking. It just seemed a bit odd that he was pasting text all over the start a new wiki page as well so I took the safe option and replaced it the {{newuser}} template since he hadn't edited any other Wikia sites. Angela talk 15:53, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Yu100325/English
It is Yu100325 to Angela, but it is a matter of Yu100325/English. Because Yu100325/English is a user page of I "Yu100325", there is not such a page elsewhere.
- Thank you for Angela, an answer.--Yu100325 00:23, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] C&C Wiki
The Command & Conquer Wiki (http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Command_and_Conquer_Wiki:Main_Page) need a Generals namespace. It already has lots of artiles tagged with the Generals: prefix as if they are trying to put it in the name space. Also is there a way to display statistics for a namespace such as number of articles? --24.172.192.167 18:33, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Has there been any community discussion about this new namespace? Usually the stats, such as the article count, only look at the main namespace, so by moving pages into a separate one it can make it seem like you have fewer articles. Angela talk
[edit] Wikia Spotlight
Hi! I've seen now in Wikia Spotlight a link to our WikiDex, but the picture is the logo of The Pokémon Encyclopedia. Can you fix this? If the link is for our WikiDex, change the logo by our logo, or if the link is really for TPE, change it? Thanks you :) --DragonTrainer - Flamewars here, please. 21:57, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks! ^_^ --DragonTrainer - Flamewars aquí, por favor. 01:14, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks and Help
Thanks for accepting the UnMarioWiki. I have a question, though. How do you un-dismiss the sitenotice? {{SUBST:nosubst|User:Plumber/sig}}
- You can either Increment MediaWiki:Sitenotice id to bring back the notice for all users. Or if it's just for you, you can delete your cookies. I have some sitenotice tricks on my tricks page you can use the section on including WAP stuff using your user monobook.js and monobook.css and turn on
addWikiToolsandaddSiteNotice2WikiToolsafter using the section on the Tab system to gain a menu with a undismiss function. Even if the sitenotice doesn't pop back up, the cookie will be deleted and the notice will return on the next page. There's also a tool for incrementing the Sitenotice id (The Display Link). ~Dantman(talk) tricks Apr 1, 2007 @ 16:25 (UTC)
