Nope, I don't speak Chinese. Except for a very few phrases, like "Ni how ma?" The Babel template on my user page is the zh-0 one to indicate that I don't understand/speak Chinese. I wish I were better at languages. One thing I like about Wikicities is the chance to interact with people from around the world.

If you want, you can add Babel templates to your user page.

Hope you have fun with Wikicities! If you don't mind me asking, which Wikicities are you interested in?

Welcome, Brett. I'm also a "graduate" from Wikipedia, but mi.wikipedia.org is still what i call my "responsibilty".

I skimmed your list of wikis you'd like to see established. Maybe you need ANOTHER look through the list of wikicities! :-D

cities: does this: "to host on one wiki local and organizational wikis for small cities/groups (that didn't need or couldn't start their own)" - its "cities" have populations ranging from 30,000 to 10,000,000+ except that one's nominally a lake. Come and add your favourite stamping-ground!

answers: probably covers "a questions/FAQ wiki (for frequent or curiosity raising questions that might not be as readily found at Wikipedia)"

genealogy: - now with over 3,000 pages - can cover more than you might expect of "a potentially massive contact database wiki (by school attended, company worked at, location, genealogy, etc. to help people connect" - but the wikipedia:Wikipedians categories go a long way towards part of that ideal.

I'm close to starting (if there's any support from other contributors to wiki4all.com) a "Wikicity wiki of wikis... showcase other efforts and derivative sites; categorizing will be more powerful than mere Wikipedia:List of wikis." - see Proposed wikis near the top; then look through the rest of that page to see else what matches your ideas.

w:c:engineering: could probably accommodate a "section for likely inventions of the immediate future" and "one for technology (how to build things, make things, etc. for a common person)"

I think there's at least one "allowing people to collaboratively write articles or do original research, describe one's theories (even the most mundane), write opinions/reviews and other POV"

And someone was talking of setting one up for neologisms (not too far away from protologisms!)

Those are just the ones I've looked at.

I found your http://inventions.wikia.com when I was searching for a place to start thinking how to realize one idea, and I think it is a very nice place to start thinking about steps of realization, which are incomplete (therefore I cannot add them to our http://howto.wikia.com ), but Inventions wiki seem to be an appropriate place for such content. I hope it is fine if I do that in the Inventions wiki, is it?

Sorry, but I didn't start that wiki... I had a wiki called allyourideas.com and that would have been suitable, but sadly, there was so much spam and I didn't have time to maintain it, so I had to take it offline. If you don't reach the inventions wiki person, I'd still suggest giving your page a category at the inventions wiki though (put something like [[Category:Realization Steps]] at the bottom of each such page), so that such types of "inventions" can be distinguished from other types.

By the way, did you know about this IAL : http://www.earthlanguage.org ? (An interesting visual one...)

No, I didn't... Thank you... My hope is that people who try to create or who support the idea of a world auxiliary language can work more to ask their representatives to agree to hold a global meeting to vote on choosing ANY single language, rather than to spend too much time devising a particular language which might not ever get accepted. Once there is an agreement to have an official choice, then people can offer their own ideas, including the idea of an existing language...

Hi...sorry to be out of touch--I'm in a country now which blocks Wikia, unfortunately, so I can't usually maintain it easily, so that'd be great! One thing to be aware of, if you weren't already, is that there is a very large effort of one individual already at http://kevin.vanzonneveld.net/techblog/article/phpjs_namespaced/ (the page also leads to a non-namespaced version at http://kevin.vanzonneveld.net/code/php_equivalents/php.js ). Notice that the license is MIT which is GPL compatible: http://kevin.vanzonneveld.net/techblog/article/phpjs_licensing/ . I still think it would be ideal to host the functions here:

1. Quicker ability for us to improve (as wikis allow)
2. Some of the functions do not strictly follow PHP's behavior though they sometimes could or could moreso (I think it is fine to offer derivatives, including here, but people should be able to just use the function, expecting PHP-like behavior, unless it is really impossible.)
3. The functions could benefit from wiki organization (e.g., group by type, highlight which functions were not done yet, etc.)
4. With all of PHP's functions, there are still quite a number of functions to go!

PHP-Javascript isn't my personal interest, but I have contacted Kevin to see if we can cooperate. Thanks for the info; a community is needed to keep the wiki going.

That should be changed. You know, for general JavaScript issues, although there some buggy things going on at the moment as they transition to a new system, http://developer.mozilla.org/ has to my mind been the best place for general JavaScript coverage. I intended the wiki here to supplement that wiki or do things which that wiki wouldn't allow (like PHP-JavaScript or general libraries of code), but it's up to you... (Brettz9)
