I meant just edits on the 'Gerontology Wiki'. I note other users (Ben Meyers, Statistician, and myself) but we see only 1 'active user' listed. Also, I corrected the spelling of 'gerontology' on the main page but it's not showing up?Ryoung122 07:55, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for setting up the Wallace and Gromit Wiki, I am very excited to get going on the project however when I try to save any edits or start any pages I get an error saying:
Wikia Database error A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was: (SQL query hidden) from within function "efUpdateCheckUserData". MySQL returned error "1146: Table 'wallaceandgromit.cu_changes' doesn't exist (216.151.156.9)".

Catherine- Thanks for allowing me to join.
Biggest question/problem I have is continually having to re-log in inorder to do almost anything. Each new screen thinks I'm not logged in.
On new MacBook OS X 10.5 using FireFox or Safari I keep having to login. During edit process, upload a photo, trying to email you, trying to join help chat. Often times I'm in an endless loop spending literally hours trying to move forward.
Yes I have cookies on in both browsers. I'm blocking popup's but allowing all cookies (and have many) from Wikia. I must be missing that one clue/checkbox that would allow me to move forward with dexterity.
Also I get this error when I try to join the Wikia Help chat "Communication socket already exists" Thanks appreciate contact thru email as I can barely get around Wikia resources without getting caught in login loops.

I was working on the new Blakes 7 Wiki, and I got around to some of the articles shoved there from starter, and I noticed a couple things. Firstly, c:starter:Help:Starting this wiki needs some links fixed... in section 2, the muppet, bioshock, and lost links all need a w: before them to work. Secondly, everyone I've spoken with on the subject seems to prefer this kind of front page to this kind, and I've used that main page on several wikis (Pfhorpedia, the Military wiki, Code-Snippets, Blakes 7, probably a few others) and they all love it, so you might want to think about changing it... or something. /me goes to edit Blakes 7 Wiki some moar Guesty-Persony-Thingy 03:21, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

But, like I told in my request, we already are a group of people, that will increase as the time goes on (we will talk about this with our friends). Moreover, we have in mind 20 and more pages that should be done, and completed in some time. I also saw that there are a lot of wikias with only 2 pages or only 2 users, so I think that we should have a chance with our work, because the number of people and pages concerned will be higher than 2... The number of users (participants) and the contents in our project won't be a problem... Hi,
I've made some edits lately on [9] main page and the sysop there, who doesn't understand a word of english by the way, has reverted them without any good reason and then he has protected the page.
This [10] is the diff of what i made. The guy said that what i have done broken the page and that the images at the bottom we're not showing. It not true : [11].
All i ask is that the main page be unprotected. I will talk with him (french is my main language) before making any other edit to HIS wiki. He doesn't understand one bit the wiki code nor how does templates works; he mostly do copy paste of things. I hope i could help him learn thoses things.
That wont be easy it seems. If i fail, i wont do single more edit on that wikia because i have others things to do.

For granting me admin rights on the Fashion wiki. I'll do my best to bring the wiki up to standards. For now, I have a few questions.
1. Is it acceptable for me to import images from Wikipedia as well as text, and if so, how should I tag the images?
2. Could you or another user help me copy some template code (such as the infobox code) to the wiki? I tried doing this on my own and had trouble.
3. Is their any way we could get this wiki to rank higher on google search. Right now it doesn't even make the first page when I search "fashion wikia".

Hello! I've just started a new wiki and have a little trouble there. You see, i've just realised that the name i've chosen... is wrong :(. It just doesn't fit russian (and any as far as i know) language, that's my fault. There should be one word changed, "cartographying"(on russian) instead of "cartography". How do i rename it? Hello there Catherine. I just looked at the Burnout Paradise wiki today and saw something wasn't right. I am not an editor there but happen to have it open in a tab. User:Glacier Wolf had blocked the founder (User:The parkster) for 13 years, after posting this forum topic (which from my point of view was complaining about how he was wiki-illiterate, a ridiculous reason if there ever was one). The block reason said: "Is this how old you are? Please stop messing around, and remember why you created this wiki: for information about Burnout Paradise". I replied to the forum topic asking Glacier Wolf to reconsider the block. However, I'm not sure whether to take this seriously as it was (in my time zone) very close to April Fools Day, but it seems serious. I see this as an abuse of powers.
To add on to this, I believe that no responsible Wikia Staff/Community Team member (I think it was one of those Glacier Wolf was going for) would block someone for that reason, and there is no excuse to do that. Glacier Wolf could have at least waited for community consensus.

I work with sources and references on wikipedia and in the wikia scratch area and I notice that Wookipedia uses then successfully, but the same syntax seems to fail for me. As the only active member of the Hendrix Wiki, I would like to adopt it so that I have the ability to edit sub-menus, change skins, etc. The original creator has been inactive for nearly 3 months and I have started the wiki from scratch and plan to continue, thus I believe I should adopt the wiki in order to make it even better.

[edit] A problem with the UnFF admin
Hello, I would just like to say I had a problem over at the UnFF Wikia and I stated questions and comments and a user helped me out by answering them and removing some of the offensive material from the articles, but when I stated this to the admin of the wikia he said :"I don't care.Plain and simple.". That hurt my feelings very much because the offensive material in the articles were related to real life experiences that I have had and for him to say something like that showed that he is not a very good Admin for the site. Hi Catherine,
On my wiki (Spelljammer Wiki) you set up a fancy userpage that redirects to your one here. (I'm assuming that I'm not that special and that you might have done this on other people's wiki's too. <grin>)
That redirect is now broken and I'm getting an error message when I look at your Spelljammer Wiki user page. Here is the error:

I've tried to copy and paste the template URL into a browser window and that works, so it might be the "fetch" thing causing the problem.

We have tried several wikis in the past based on roleplaying forums and chats, and find that no matter what the size of the RP group, they have trouble attracting enough editors to sustain a wiki for more than a few weeks. A dead wiki is a very sad thing!
I would like to propose that instead of limiting this to the Hoggie Hallows group, we create a Harry Potter Roleplaying wiki where all people and groups interested in HP roleplays would be welcome. There's an infinite amount of space in a wiki, so each group would be able to create as many pages as they like, and categories and portals can be used to organize the articles to make it easy for people to find the type of game and community they are interested in.
Would the Hoggie Hallows group be interested in founding and launching such a wiki? You'd be welcome to create pages just about your own community, we would just ask that you be welcoming and cooperative when other people arrive to create pages about their games.
This is a good idea to share a wikipedia with other HP Roleplaying communities. We would love to share a wikipedia with others so my answer is a yes. Thank you!

[edit] Warcraft Server Wiki Requests and RPGStarter Update
Sorry that I haven't noted anything about this subject before--I've been meaning to make this post, but never seemed to get around to it!
I just wanted to ask if you know of any other WoW servers that are currently requesting wikis. The last two, Rexxar and Suramar, were PvP and PvE servers. In my opinion and experience, neither of them contain demographics which would utilize any character/story/art/etc. pages, and would most likely have short and destructive community use of the wiki (two or three days of rampant vandalization with one or two users attempting to test the site). Most of the information services we could provide those two server types, such as tracking of in-game progress and such, are most commonly and effectively provided by threads on the server message boards provided by Blizzard, often managed by a single volunteer with the sole ability to change the information. The last I saw, the thread on the Suramar server's boards was suggesting that the players go to Wikia and spam wiki requests.... We'd most likely spend more time setting up the wiki and attempting to keep order there than pageviews would justify.
If I remember correctly, Wiki Requests allows for public discussion of requests, so I'll try to watch it and add input where useful. Also, there is a realms list provided by the WoWWiki which should help quickly identify the non-roleplay servers.
On another note, we're placing the final touches on the RPGStarter. You can see a checklist with the remaining to-do items on the front page. We're waiting to see if we can get Barrylb calendar and social tools support. After the starter is ready, we may wish to open a temporary server to let people create pages which could be transferred to their server wikis upon launch. Also, I'm trying to get in contact with Funcom's public relations department to ask for small things (Wiki threads quickly stickied on server forums, perhaps a website promotion); I'll be making phone calls tomorrow.

Hello. I'm here to report about the abuse of OP powers by Charitwo on the IRC. I'm a user from the FFwiki IRC channel and it seems that he banned me, and some other users that often use that channel from Wikia-Gaming channel, thinking that I am a user (I haven't registred) that he dislikes. As I was clearly angry with the situation, I went to the Wikia main channel on the IRC, complaining about the unnecessary ban. There he told me why he banned and that even got things worse, as when I was explaining the situation, he replied: "You may waste your breath, but I won't remove the ban". I am trying to upload a logo, and I keep getting this error: The file is corrupt or has an incorrect extension. Please check the file and upload again. When it didn't work the first time, I opened it, resized it in Photoshop and saved it as a smaller file and it still won't upload. It is a .jpg, which is a "supported extension", so I'm confused as to what the problem is.

Hey there, I noticed that for some reason the default skin on my wikia is set to Sapphire instead of Monobook, at least for all non-registered users. It used to be Monobook before, and I'd like to revert the default skin for both registered and non-registered users to Monobook. However, I've tried doing this under preferences, but Monobook is not listed on the default tab option. Please help me, is there any way I can make the default skin go back to Monobook, or is there any way yourself or another Wikia staff member can assist me? Hi, this is the parkster. I have recently become part of the Iron Man wiki and the founder is completely inactive (even from the start). Another user and i have wondered, whether we could take over the wiki or atleast become admins on it. There are further details on the message at your talk page on the site. The reason why i'm telling you here is because you haven't replied back to me since the message was first posted, which was about three days ago.
