[edit] Deletion tips

Hey, saw you're message to Angela in recent changes: if you want to permanently axe bad edits, you could try deleting the page, then restoring only the bad edits, then moving the page to another one like User:Dantman/delete or something, then deleting them there. Then they'll be out of the article history for good.

And by the way, the thing on the top of your talk page is a link to starting a new section in Angela's talk page, not yours. I'm gonna fix it, but revert me if that's like, somehow intentional. Scottch 11:11, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

T_T That wasn't intentional. Though just to note, editing that here won't do much good. The stuff for my userpage is all shared from the Animepedia. The stuff should be edited there so that all my pages are affected when I clone and bot it out. Hi Dantman. I'm not that good at bot-creating things, so if you would create a bot family then it would be nice (: It's on [[1]]. The word to be corrected is "Optrædender", and the word there shall be written is "Optrædener". I created a bot family for you. Click the raw link beside the starwars_family file at my Pywikipediabot page. And use Save As or whatever your browser has to save it under the name it shows families/starwars_family.py which of course the families folder is inside of your pywikipediabot setup. Follow the instructions at meta to setup things first. You can use this command (cd to whatever directory the framework is in first) python replace.py -family:starwars -lang:da -start:! "Optrædender" "Optrædener" As you see the in the first "" is the thing to replace, and the second "" has the thing to replace with. -start:! tells it to do every page in the main namespace. If you want another namespace use something like -start:Wookieepedia: depending on what other namespace you want it to run in. You're not supposed to try to run a family, that would never work. The framework automatically grabs the family file it needs. Also, it's supposed to be families/starwars_family.py so it's not going to work right. Hi. I added a monobook javascript to have a language drop down menu here. I didn't write it my self, so I'm not very sure how it works. But I tried to make another one for choosing a range of Occupations from another drop down menu. Would you be able to take a look at it and tell me if I'm on the right path here it is. I only see Graphic Design stuff on that page. ^_^ I'm going to the Art Institute of Vancouver's Visual & Game programming course. My area is the big gaming hub. There's something very interesting to note. My graduation is March 2008, and Electronic Arts big hiring spree where they're going to be bringing in a lot of programmers starts April 2008. The elements used wouldn't really work well to be used. The only reason I do it this way is because I can't edit CSS for what others see on my userpage. If I could, I'd do this in a much different manor. It doesn't work right in other skins, and because there are no skin specific Magic Words I can't fix it up to work right in other skins. This is just a cheep hack, since it's for one wiki it would be best to come up with another method using your Common.css and using Skinname.css to tweak it to work right in all skins. Hi Dantman -- I saw that you updated the Morehubs template and the hubs pages, to put the "More Hubs" button inside the box. Unfortunately, that messes up the centering of the title. It's because of the CSS you're using. The Main Page one for some reason is using CSS to be moved upwards for some stupid reason which is not needed. You can fix that one by removing the absolute positioning and using the old per-page css to hide the title bar on that page to get the same effect. [edit] Impartial mediator for cross-wiki issues

Mediation is an important part of any wiki's development. However, I believe it is best if the wiki themselves set up a mediation process rather than have an outsider intervene. It's quite easy for wikis to adopt a process like Wikipedia's Mediation Cabal where users on a wiki simply help out others on their wiki. Angela (talk) 04:26, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

I think people are coming to central because they want what they perceive to be some "higher authority" to solve their problems for them. This isn't good for community development when they need to instead set up their own processes for dealing with these issues. I think a user group focused on the creation of mediation committees on wikis with problems would be better than trying to actually be their mediator. For some reason, the image at the upper left corner (links to http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page main page]) for all StarCraft wikia pages vanished. I noticed this hasn't happened to any other wikias that I've visited, though.
