Wikia - creating communities
Contents |
[edit] Welcome
Welcome, Forerunner, to the Central Wikia!
We are a friendly community here; most of us are active on an individual Wikia, and many of us are active on more than one.
If you're looking for help, use the Community Portal or Help Desk. If your wiki needs something done, leave the details on the Volunteer Portal. If you need assistance from a member of staff, leave a message with one of the Community Team.
You can get live help from community members and staff in our IRC channel. There are also channels for larger Wikia and their communities. Here you can socialise and get to know your community!
If you have an idea for a new Wikia, please let us know! Check out new wikis and see if any of them interest you. A directory of existing wikis is also available.
Finally, please keep an eye on the recent changes to see what the community is up to and to help reverse spam and vandalism.
Enjoy! Slade 19:00, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Halopedia
Hello Forerunner. Have you tried to talk to GPT about this? I think it would be useful for you to explain to him why you were offended by this so he can consider editing his comment. Let me know how that goes. Angela

[edit] Headers
== makes a "level 2 header". The reason this is usually used instead of one is because there is already a "level 1 header" on the page. The actual page title is the first header, so everything below that should be smaller. Angela

[edit] Umm...
I'm not getting stressed out--I'm just, doing what I have to do to enforce the rules. When someone deliberately vandalises an article like that, they get no second chances. If an IP blanks something, maybe it was an accident, maybe they were testing. When someone registers to say that the US is not a good country, they get banned, simple as that. --GPT(talk)(eating) 20:17, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] No.
There is no reason for me to change your sig template. You can't even edit Halopedia anymore--just forget about it and move on, and care not what your signature is. --NOTASTAFF GPT(talk)(eating) 17:54, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Friends
The page on promotion has some tips. Basically, you need to find fans of the show who might want to edit. Adding some content would also help so that there's something interesting for them to read when they get there. Angela

[edit] Sidebar
Unholy s***! D*** right you guys need it!!! Anyway, I asked Splarka to make it (surprised you guys didn't think of it first, actually), so he shoved it at http://www.wikia.com/wiki/User:Splarka/tricks#Collapsible_portlets. There are two things to copy and paste, and you might want to modify a few things--in the thing that you stick in Common.js, it says "var portskip = ['p-personal', 'p-cactions', 'p-logo', 'ads-top-left'];" You should probably add 'p-search' if you don't want the seach bar to collapse, and 'p-tbx' and 'p-wikicities-nav' if you don't want the toolbox and "wikia" section to collapse as well, respectively. If you need any help wif anyfink else, don't be afraid to ask! =D --NOTASTAFF GPT(talk)(eating) 18:51, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Short pages
The short pages page is cached, so if you've recently added to an article, it might not be removed from the special page for afew days. Angela
(talk) 12:43, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think it might just be showing the shortest 1000 pages, so if there are fewer than 1000 pages on the wiki, they will all be shown there. Angela

[edit] Vote
I removed your vote because you were circumventing a block. Also, I am going to speak to Angela about this, as this is innappropriate behavior for a Wikian. --NOTASTAFF GPT(talk)(eating) 21:39, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] RE: help
I think you're right, it doesn't make sense that he would block you for something if you had already been blocked for it. I also agree that, given your reasons, you shouldn't have gotten banned for having a "sock"( especially if Gravemind didn't get the same consequence), or for "revealing" RR's name, although since some people are really paranoid or sensitive about that stuff, I can understand his action(though I don't agree, since he's posted his real name on various other places online). Unfortunately, I can't do much to help you with getting unbanned since I doubt RR or GPT will care about what I say. Personally, I think you shouldn't be banned, but I recommend talking to a Staff, like Angela, Sannse, or someone else, and see what they think. If there is anything else I can do to help, feel free to contact me. :) Phil.e. [Talk to me] 01:08, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
It depends how you like to say it, I think, but I say "Wikia wikia". Wikia is the corporation, and wikia is a wiki hosted by Wikia. "I go to Wikia to find a wikia from their list of wikia," for example. You can also say Wikia wikis, if you want. :) Phil.e. [Talk to me] 23:43, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] IRC
Perhaps you had logged in already and IRC thought you were still on there. Or perhaps someone else used the same name. The name is not registered, so I suggest you do that by typing /msg nickserv register yourircpassword youremailaddress@example.com. That way people will be able to tell whether it is you or someone else called Forerunner. Angela

Along with the above reasons, it might also be because of Chief2552(although I know there are valid reasons behind this), which might have caused your ban. Also, "ban evasion" probably came from you coming online when you were supposed to be banned, although the fault wasn't yours. Phil.e. [Talk to me] 20:09, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for adding the star for Resident Evil on the Gaming hub! That helps a lot. Please feel free to add more updates, when you see them. -- Danny (talk) 18:01, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
