I presume this is about internationalbusiness.wikia.com, is it not?

Well, the pages were reported as spam on Talk:Spam Blacklist by another user and after examining those pages, they indeed looked like spam to me, so I deleted. Three to six letters on a page (especially since most of those pages were created by unregistered users) looked like common spam instead of any meaningful content related to international business. Spam is an annoying problem that can be quite hard to control at times, and Wikia janitors, such as myself, have been tasked with spam removal across Wikia's 5600+ different wikis. I apologize if I accidentally deleted content from the wiki, but I still fail to see how three to six letters are meaningful content. --Jack Phoenix _(Contact) 19:55, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I've blocked the vandal now. You can talk to the Community Team about more administrators for the wiki. Thankfully Wikia has some very good tools for fighting spam: you can add the URL that the vandal spammed to MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist on the Second Life Wikia (requires admin rights). Mistakes might happen with page deletion, as sadly too often people test out the cool new features on the Inside Wikia, which means that it gets a lot of test pages & images that do not belong in the Inside Wikia. I have some questions about interwiki links. Please see also:

I have studied the interwiki help pages linked farther down, and learned how to use interwiki links to link to some pages. But there seems to be some inconsistency across Wikia concerning whether interwiki links work.

Examples:

This last method is recommended here: Help:Introduction#Interwiki_links

It gives this example:

That example works here, but not Cannabis:Main Page

To quote some wise man / woman, "it's not a bug, it's a feature". Back when Wikia (then Wikicities) was a new project, new wikis would get their entry in the interwiki table. That allows links such as StarWars:Main Page or Creatures:Main Page. This system is quite buggy and this practice was abandoned - as it states on Help:Interwiki link, "Note：starting from July 10, 2005, no new Wikia was given a simple wiki prefix (w:c: redirect is used instead); see announcement.". So the standard is to use links such as w:c:cannabis:Main Page. c:cannabis:Main Page works only in this wiki, the Central Wikia, but w:c:cannabis:Main Page works on every Wikia. --Jack Phoenix _(Contact) 19:46, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

I was wondering if there was an introductory text page that I could edit for

But http://cannabis.wikia.com/wiki/Special:MultipleUpload is a different upload page.

MultiUpload's messages are prefixed with multiupload as of now, but do note that the MultiUpload version that Wikia runs is a bit outdated, there have been changes in message names between the trunk version and Wikia's version. You could check out your wiki's Special:Allmessages to find out what messages MultiUpload uses...(compare Special:MultipleUpload page's text to the various messages on Special:Allmessages).

Regarding ImportFreeImages extension questions: you can create the template (actually, it seems like a system message...very odd) on cannabis.wikia, of course. I don't know what to put in there though, sorry. The developer of this extension seems to have forgotten a thing or two...or maybe he wanted to give individual wikis the change to create the templates from scratch? What system message were you referring to? Maybe I can find someone who knows a lot about creating templates. I have seen some very complex templates. So I don't know how to create them. Hello, my page of the Second Life military roleplay group Sparta has recently been vandalized repeatedly by IP # 167.1.126.100 who recently changed the link to our website to some porno...thing, I am not sure what to call it. He has also been changing our parts to various retarded things constantly no matter how many times I change it back. If you could either lock the page (I dont care anymore if end up unable change it from the version I have it as) or somehow keep him from editing anymore, I would greatly appreciate it.-~~Bruno Ziskey~~

I took a quick look into that wiki and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. If you need to tag pages for deletion, simply add {{delete}} into them. Hello BlueDevil, I'm afraid that there's no tool to hide edits from Special:Recentchanges. If you are reverting a vandal with an offensive name, there is a way to hide those contributions and reverts from the recent changes page. Go to http://wikiname.wikia.com/index.php?title=Special:Contributions/Some_vandal_account_name_here&bot=1 (of course, replace the wikiname with the appropriate subdomain and Some_vandal_account_name_here with the vandal's username). Note the &bot=1 part of the URL? That hides the vandal edit + rollback from the recent changes list. This is called bot rollback.

Adding extensions can only be done by Wikia Staff. You can visit your wiki's Special:Version to see the installed extensions. Help:Extensions at the Help Wikia has some more info about extensions. --Jack Phoenix _(Contact) 11:50, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Why did you ignore the red notice at the very beginning of the page? If I don't know who has left the message, how would you expect that I know why I have blocked you? Besides, I block a lot of people - I have no idea on what wiki I've blocked you. In any case, you should see the block expiry time (and in most of the cases, a reason too) on the "You have been blocked" message. You've added an interlanguage link to your user page at fa.wikia. If you want to link to your fa.wikia userpage from text, use something like [[:fa:کاربر:BlueDevil|my userpage at fa.wikia]] — note the semicolon before fa:.

Firstly, I don't like threats. Secondly, a user reported mass-vandalism and page blanking to me on the Wikia IRC channel yesterday. I recently noticed that the Era Icon in the wikia didn't work as I expected it would work like in Halopedia.

The Era templates were stacked on each other rather than being in a line next to the title. Can you fix this?

The redirect on http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/User_talk:Jack_Phoenix is listed as broken, because it is. A redirekt does not work off the wiki, anybody who sees that page sees the link; if it worked, we'd be seemlessly seeing this page here. Until it does (if it ever does, I think that is a conscious design decision for that redirect to not redirect), you'd get the exact same effect by placing a "contact me at w:User talk:Jack Phoenix, I read that most often" message (I think wikislang calls that a "soft redirect") on the page, and that gets you off the broken links list and changes nothing from the way your talk page works. Please consider doing that; I'd just love to have a clean "Broken Links" list. ;-) User:M.mendel on Guildwiki 22:38, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't call that broken really; what is broken is Special:BrokenRedirects — that's by design. Interwiki redirects can be enabled, but usually aren't because it can be confusing for (other) users. It's annoying to get a notice "You have new messages on (random wiki name)" only to find out someone's been changing my redirect to something else. An interwiki redirect doesn't directly harm anyone, more like otherwise. I personally would just hate to have a talk page on almost 6000 different Wikia-hosted wikis. --Jack Phoenix _(Contact) 23:50, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

I am not suggesting that you entertain a talk page on every wiki you use. I am rather suggesting that you change your hard redirect to a soft redirect. See here. The soft redirect will not affect the Broken Links list. Guildwiki-mendel 23:58, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm aware of what a soft redirect is and it's a rather pointless idea in my opinion. Normal redirects have been used by Wikia Staff for many years and I'm relatively positive that there are others using normal redirects than just me and the staff. In either way, the majority of wiki users haven't complained about something as meaningless as one redirect. It's not really users' fault if Special:BrokenRedirects is broken by design, that's something for MediaWiki developers to fix. --Jack Phoenix _(Contact) 12:51, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
