Wikia - creating communities
| Welcome to my talk page! There currently isn't much going on right now here, but there are a few things that I would like you to do here. First off, this is a talk page, so make sure you sign all of your posts with ~~~~. This tells me who you are and gives me a link to your talk page so I can easily respond to your message. Second, when you are going to post me a message please click on the "Post a comment" link above, or click here. Please type the subject of your message in the subject line so the conversations are seperated from one another. One last thing is if you need a resonse back from me, make sure in your message that you tell me where you want me to respond to you at. If you don't tell me I might not give you a response or I'll just put it here. Thanks! --JewntansOath My talk page / My contributions / Send me an email |

[edit] Welcome
Welcome, Jewntansoath, to the Central Wikia!
We are a friendly community here; most of us are active on an individual wiki, and many of us are active on more than one.
If you're looking for help, use the Community Portal or Help Desk. For finding a helper or a staff, speaking your language, see the page Staff and Helpers by language. If your wiki needs something done, leave the details on the Volunteer Portal. If you need assistance from a member of staff, leave a message with one of the Community Team.
You can get live help from community members and staff in our IRC channel. There are also channels for larger Wikia and their communities. Here you can socialize and get to know your community!
If you have an idea for a new wiki, please let us know! Check out new wikis and see if any of them interest you. A directory of existing wikis is also available.
Finally, please keep an eye on the recent changes to see what the community is up to and to help revert spam and vandalism.
Enjoy!––Σulãlíã459 678 18:25, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Helpers
Hi, I'm responding to your question left for Angie. Helpers on Wikia have special user rights enabling them to assist wikis in a number of functions. If there's a wiki you see that needs attention from a Helper, please let know. —Scott (talk) 22:19, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Sports Drive
Hi, I just saw your name on the Sports Drive page for Dallas Cowboys. That's fantastic, and thanks for signing up. Do you know any more people who might be interested in joining you there? If so, I can help set them up on that wiki with you. Shawn (talk) 06:29, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] RE: Welcome
Thanks for the welcome. I'm still getting used to the amount of tools here. It's crazy! WP-EN's rudimentary compared to this! --Gp75motorsports REV LIMITER GT-PT/GT-EN/CSW 16:22, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- I updated your header. The "Leave message" link's been changed to "Post a comment", in case you didn't notice. ;D --Gp75motorsports REV LIMITER GT-PT/GT-EN/CSW 16:56, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] dallas cowboys wiki done
The Dallas Cowboys Wiki is now set up, and you're a sysop there. Have fun! flaminglawyer 12:41, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- Since I'm not a staff member or anything special, I can't take away your admin powers. But I can take over the job for you :) . When you're logged in on the Dallas Cowboys Wiki, click this link and change the rights to "sysop" and "bureaucrat." Sysop lets me upload a logo and favicon, and lets me set up the theme for the site (colors, font, etc.). Bureaucrat lets me appoint others to be sysops (aka "admins") or 'crats. Of course, you'll still have your admin and 'crat status, just in case you ever need them. (If you need any proof that I won't blow up the site, here's my resume: I've already successfully started the Ventrilo Wiki and the Memphis Tigers Wiki, and they're not dead yet :) ) flaminglawyer 00:13, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Well it turns out that I don't have any admin powers at the Cowboys wiki, so I'm afraid that I can't help you. I do trust you with it, but I can't do anything to give it to you. --JewntansOath My talk page / My contributions / Send me an email 00:50, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
[edit] RE: Offensive?
No, it isn't, since you're placing it on an userbox. However, I suggest that you don't place it in your signature since persons such as myself don't want to see forums and talk pages spammed with links to their "favorite religion". --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 01:55, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
- Spam looks like this:
- JESUS LOVES YOU!!!
- How would you like seeing this on your talk page all the time? --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 02:01, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
It isn't a rule, and users don't become banned because of it. However, I want you to think about this: what purpose does a religious phrase in a signature serve other than to parade that religion in front of others? --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 12:44, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks for listening. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 15:41, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
[edit] RE: MonoBook
Actually, MonoBook is no longer our default skin. It was voted to swapped to stinking Monaco. I believe that there is a MediaWiki page that controls the default skin, normally written as default. Type "monobook" in there, that may work. I got lucky when I did that... try using AdminSkin (in your preferences) as well. I honestly don't know.

- Yeah, Monaco really does stink. It slows my computer down way too much because of Wikia's fancy new features. I say that they can keep Monaco and only update it, but still bring back Monobook. That's why I'm moving my wiki to another free wiki-hosting place that uses Semantic MediaWiki (better than what Wikia's default is) and still uses MonoBook. A lot of Wikia users use this other place. It's called Referata and is at http://www.referata.com. There are even ways to pay to have your own URL. Anyways, I already tried the places you are talking about, but Wikia already disabled all of that. --JewntansOath My talk page / My contributions / Send me an email 22:28, 18 March 2009 (UTC) PS: I like your signature, but too bad people are giving you trouble about it.
[edit] Re: Changing Wiki Category
Special:Contact can help with both of those problems; send staff a message asking for your wikis hub to be changed from lifestyle to whatever, and the sitename to be changed from what it is now, to what you'd like it to be :)––Σulãlíã459 678 17:43, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
