Darn. But can you create your own personal skin (as in you alone can see it) by creating (as you said) the user:name/monaco.css page and edit that?

There's a small bug with td.diff-deletedline - currently the text color is white on a light yellow background, making it hard to read.

Hey. SpartHawg and I have discussed it, and we'd like to nominate a new admin for MEWiki. DRY has been an excellent user and his work is directly responsible for MEWiki's planet pages looking so awesome. He's been a consistently good and good-humoured editor who specialises in the technical aspects of the wiki, which, with ME2 coming up, we really need in an admin. Meco and I had been working on one too; I'd found a list of most searched for StarCraft terms and have been trying to put them into the main page in a draft here.

From the looks of it, Mass Effect Wiki added the most popular content to their main page in the contents box (eg Commander Shepherd, etc), rather than the way Meco and I had thought of organizing it. It's good to try new things :) Yes, I'd like to put the wiki on the first page of StarCraft searches, so we should put our heads together and see about a new main page design. The new design is great. It looks ready to go to me already. Meco is much more organized about these things though, so he'll probably see things I missed... I sent him PMs about this. This, I think, would be handy. I discussed a list of common terms I found on an SEO site with Meco; I'll see if I can find that list and email it to you. However, I don't know how reliable that site was. PSH aka Kimera 757 (talk) 00:46, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

This may seem an odd question, but do you know the html code for the darker color of the old links? Meco devised a color the link template that we use a lot (see the News Archive Main template or Wings of Liberty template to see it in use) and on some areas (eg images with captions) the wiki is using the new light-colored text and links on darker text, making them unreadable.

This is something that hasn't affected some dark-skinned wikis like Wowwiki; the text remains light and the background remains dark. (Perhaps a better alternative is doing something about the white boxes that surround images.) PSH aka Kimera 757 (talk) 00:37, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

We're having a little problem with the images as users want to use these images in infoboxes as they are the newest ones but admins rollback their edits because the images don't have that transparency so could you make these images transparent and crop them so they can be used in an infobox. (I think jpg files don't support transparency so they can be uploaded to png if needed. (And if there's an image with the same name it should go to <image>2.png))

Hey Joe. I made a wiki about a week ago. Everything was fine, but I wanted to customize Monaco. So I did. Then when I went to the main page, the bar and ads were stuffed up. take a look at the sidebar. Even when I got rid of the customizes, the bar was still stuffed up. Can you help me please? I tried to talk to Stigma about this but she seemed skeptical I was who I said I was. Not sure why. It's not as if, when you walk into barnes and noble, it isn't full of mostly-new books written by thousands of writers. They're not all written by Stephen King. Anyway Tor and the makers of BioShock, including Ken Levine (who was originally going to write the novelization of BioShock and isn't now) have contracted me to write this book, and while I've played through the game three times on X Box (I've stopped playing games on my PC), I can't seem to get to some sites in the game without replaying the whole game--the saves are so weirdly organized I can't do it easily and I was hoping that there was more imagery from BioShock online, besides what's on the wiki (which I have used)...I need them for description. EG, I'm describing a scene in Apollo Square. I'm looking for some way to see images from BioShock on Apollo Square. The company has sent me the walkthrough book, the art of BioShock book, a script for cut scenes and dialogue in general, which I do use, but they don't really give me access to their game design files per se. I can ask questions of them--I just asked a question about how the 'tram' system works in Rapture--but they don't have time to be all that specific...

Anyway anyone who helps me out will get some kind of acknowledgement in the book. Which is due out before BioShock 2. The novel tells basically the backstory of Rapture and its civil war. Hello Joeplay, I'm a new admin on Section 8 wiki and was wondering if I could ask for your help. For a few weeks I have been trying to create infoboxes with different colores that represent different catagories, to make it simple I have been trying to replicate the infobox's on the sites Halopedia but with different coulors with little succes since our wikia simply regects it every time, I and the other admins are asking for your help on the userboxes and are in need of aquiring new one for the ones we currently use are insufficient to our needs, I am trying to do a renivation on the site such as userbox's, new templates, and a new upto date logo for our site since we are currently using an obsolite symbole. please message me on the matter on my talk page on the Section 8 wiki whenever you get the time. I am the leader of the game and basicly the site. Cybil24 is the only admin. But so am I was untill my computer crashed and the admin went away. I have know idea how it happened, crazy right. But can you ban SPARTAN-118 from my website. He's vandalising every thing. And making his own game on ubcsgame.wikia.com that is already about a game, He needs to make his own. For many pages on the wiki, the following links (usually on the bottom right of the page) have been replaced by the recent contributors box:

Related changes, permanent link and what links here.

The former two I've never used (I don't know what they do) but what links here is very important. I've saved a what links here for one page in my bookmarks, and just replace the page title with something else when I need to use what links here for another page, but that's rather time consuming. Certain games (and now I'm talking of Hello Kitty Online in particular) do include filters of conversation text, generally consisting of list of words that are rude, offensive, frequently used in massads and not really anywhere else, etc. Question is: is it _permitted_ to set up a page on the game's wikia page listing these words? (Yes, if you consider it's as much part of the game as every other data and lists, such as enemy stats, and whatnot, and those also get listed. No, if you consider that the resulting page is bound to include a huge amount of offensive/rude/racist/whatnot words, being that this is exactly its very nature.)

Hi, I was curious to know to which extent you go in designing the wiki skins, do you also provide customization for stuff like coordinated color schemes for navbox, infoboxes... and other custom css classes?

Basically the look of this wiki is quite messy, I'm trying to bring it (warhammer online wiki) on par with wowwiki and I'm curious to know how and if you could help.

[edit] Page names vs Namespace names

Greetings,

When the flashforward wiki was first created it got named Flash Forward. Logical, but not the name of the show, of course. The wiki got moved to FlashForward, but some of the default pages still have a space in the name.

• Does it matter? <grin>
• Does taking the space out of the portion of the page name to the left of the colon move it to the right namespace?
• Is there a "wrong" namespace?
• Is this a sysop level function or does it require big guns, like you?

[edit] Killer guides links on AoCWiki

Hello,

I've noticed you've placed advertisements in the menu at AoCWiki for Killer guides. First off, the links are broken. Secondly, this is, as far as i can tell, against Google's Adsense policy of not doing the following: "Format ads so that they become indistinguishable from other content on that page." You first placed a "(sponsor)" behind the Killer guides section, but later removed it. I can't see any Adsense ads on the page now tho (they were there before), have you just stopped with them completely since they disallow excessive amounts of ads on each page and hiding ads as content? When we initially created the wiki, our "competitor" was WikiAoC, which died (sadly, now, after seeing what you've done to AoCWiki) because it started with what it seems you are doing now, throwing in excessive ads instead of content (for the same site incidentally), and covering the fact that they are indeed ads.

It's sad to see that you're doing your best to destroy what we created.
