Wikia - creating communities
[edit] Welcome
Welcome, Roguebfl, to the Central Wikia!
We are a friendly community here; most of us are active on an individual Wikia, and many of us are active on more than one.
If you're looking for help, use the Community Portal or Help Desk. If your wiki needs something done, leave the details on the Volunteer Portal. If you need assistance from a member of staff, leave a message with one of the Community Team.
You can get live help from community members and staff in our IRC channel. There are also channels for larger Wikia and their communities. Here you can socialise and get to know your community!
If you have an idea for a new Wikia, please let us know! Check out new wikis and see if any of them interest you. A directory of existing wikis is also available.
Finally, please keep an eye on the recent changes to see what the community is up to and to help reverse spam and vandalism.
Enjoy! :) Phil.e. [Talk to me] 23:27, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Infoboxes
Thanks for your reply.
I am relatively new to wikis in general, and although I am now relatively competent at simple things (Links, Categories etc.) when you face me with all the endless squiggles that make up templates I can't do very much!
If you would like to try to help me create a template, or make one yourself on Children's Books Wiki you are welcome to - I only really need one at the moment, because the wiki is so young.
Thanks, Bethel23 20:12, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'm no expert myself but have a look at c:oots:Template:Character_infobox --Roguebfl(talk) 20:26, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- I have now tried using the template you recomeneded to me - it nearly worked! You can see my attempt here. It has done the hidable stuff - however, if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you can see the "attempt". As you should be able to see, it is mis-aligned, with the info down more than the heading. Is there a simple way of fixing this? Bethel23 12:35, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
- Missaligned in what way? --Roguebfl(talk) 19:13, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
- The info to the right of the title (i.e. Author Bilbo Baggins) where "Bilbo Baggins" is lower than "Author". Bethel23 14:22, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- the problem is with the "classes" you set, infoboxlabel makes the text aligned to the top of the table cell, as you other cells use the default alignment --Roguebfl(talk) 20:49, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
- The info to the right of the title (i.e. Author Bilbo Baggins) where "Bilbo Baggins" is lower than "Author". Bethel23 14:22, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- So, how do I fix that? Bethel23 14:22, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- But makes sure
class="infoboxlabel"andclass="infoboxcell"are the same. either change all instances of one to the other, or removed all instances of both. --Roguebfl(talk) 17:33, 26 November 2008 (UTC)- I have now changed all
class="infoboxlabel"toclass="infoboxcell"and still the same problem of the misalignment. Bethel23 20:37, 26 November 2008 (UTC)- The problem is inherent to the class="infoboxtable". it but removing it removes other other formating. it would take lot of work to fix (finding exactly what infoboxtable sets to replicate the parts we want) --Roguebfl(talk) 02:02, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- I have now changed all
- But makes sure
- Thank you very much for all your help, energy, and time. As the problem is complicated I shall just soldier on with our "normal" infobox. Again, thank you. Bethel23 14:36, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- Missaligned in what way? --Roguebfl(talk) 19:13, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sorted infoboxes
We have finally managed to get our infobox working! We copied it from the Redwall wiki, from their page Template:Character. We then changed it to suit our needs, added the instructions to hide the rows if there wasn't any info, and, there you are! You can see the template's code here amd you can see template in use here.
