[edit] Welcome

A rather delayed, "Welcome to Wikicities"! Glad to have you here. :) Angela (talk) 05:08, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks Angela, good to be here -- sannse

Welcome again! --CocoaZen 18:17, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks CocoaZen, what a great nick :) -- sannse (talk) 19:44, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! :-) --CocoaZen 20:06, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks!

Hi, Lisa -- Thanks for telling me about those MetaWiki discussions. I'll check them out! -- Danny Toughpigs 22:10, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Warm greetings!

Thank you for the kind words and warm greetings, Lisa! They are very much appreciated. When some free time opens up in a few dayss, I hope to be spending a lot of time here - probably half here/half in Wikipedia-land! Nhprman 15:38, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki

Please, do not test your editing skills on existing templates of Pomorze Wikicity. Michał P. 19:16, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Reply at w:c:pomorze:Dyskusja Wikipedysty:Michał P.. Summary: Edits were to fix the problem you reported to the Community Suppport Team. Please let me know of any further problems -- sannse (talk) 20:37, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

OK, thanks :) It works and it's nice. Should I send you a message or leave it here if there will be any other technical problems? Michał P. 20:58, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Either is fine. The direct address for the community team is community@wikicities.com if you need it, or my talk page here is OK too. If I can't help, then I should be able to find someone who can. -- sannse (talk) 21:22, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Namespaces

My e-mail to technical@wikia.com is undeliverable, maybe because Poland is too far away from Wikia Corp., so I'm asking here: could you change some namespace names on my wiki? Namespaces to change are:

Interactive Pomerania to Wikicité
Pomoc to Aide
Szablon to Modelle
Wikipedysta to Utilisateur
Dyskusja to Parler-vous
Dyskusja Wikipedysty to Utilisateur parler-vous
Grafika to Imagine
Kategoria to Categoíre

I would also like to add namespace Portail. Is it possible? Michał (wiki) 24 February 2006, 15:00 (CET)

[edit] Help requested with response to vandalism

Hi, hope OK for me to ask for help here (I got a warning message at top of Community Portal saying too long, also cp talk page looks very long). You recently replied on Help talk:Main Page to Splarka. Don't know if this connected but have been asking some questions re protecting Main Page on Talk:Society Gardens.

Don't know if someone trying to prove a point re what I've been asking, but today have had 19 instances of vandalism on Sustainable Community Action wiki (main page sca21:Main page) from what looks like 15 different addresses. These have now been rolled back but am unsure what other action if any is best to take? I looked on Help pages but there doesn't seem to be anything specific to vandalism. So should these 15 addresses be blocked, if so what is an appropriate length of time. Thanks in advance, Philralph 15:23, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi Philralph, it seems you are not the only wiki to have been hit with this today, I've had other reports of the same pattern of vandalism. The main thing is to do what you have done and rollback. It's worth blocking the IPs, which are likely to be open proxies, just to be sure they are not used again. But, sadly, it's likely that they will have a longer list of proxies than we can block. Blocking indefinitely is fine in a case like this, although I would never suggest it for isolated vandalism. The best advice is just to keep an eye on your recent changes as much as you can, and rollback as needed. If you have any suitable active contributors at the moment, you might want to consider more sysops to help out. These things usually pass in time, although big wikis get a lot of this (but have a lot of people to help fix it). Call if you need any help, -- sannse (talk) 15:59, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
Many Thanks! Philralph 16:18, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikitecture

I have unprotected the main page for now. I used to keep it unlocked, but it only takes on wikispam to completely remove whatever's there, so I am still nervous about changing it. However, since there's not much content being put up anyway, maybe it will help. --Sform 19:52, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks Sform, I appreciate it -- sannse (talk) 20:06, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Possible admin issues

I've replied to your question at User_talk:Angela#Articles_blocking. I think Sos is talking about Nonsensopedia since that's the only other Wikia site they've edited. Angela (talk) 13:57, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Username Policy Violation at the Final Fantasy Wiki, Assistance Requested

A User of the Final Fantasy Wiki has been discovered with Username "! ! ! ! Linuxbeak is a faggot", which is in violation of the Wiki Username Policy, as it defames another user. Said user does not appear to have made any contributions and has not established a Userpage, but is not appearing on the Block Log, indicating that he likely has not been blocked, and is likely free to update at any given time should he "return". This user appears at the very top of the UserList (which is how I detected him). Based on the Wiki Username Policy, said user should be banned from editing for having an inappropriate username. Because of the current admin situation on that Wiki, we are unable to correct the problem internally. Could you help us? --User: Roy Al Blue from the Final Fantasy Wiki, 15:57, 17 March, 2006 (UTC)--

As Wikicities shares a global user list, you see all users created on all Wikicities wikis. That user wasn't created to target the Final Fantasy Wiki, so there is most likely no need to ban them there. Splarka 23:43, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Final Fantasy Wiki: We will soon need the help of a Bureaucrat

User:Crazyswordsman at the Final Fantasy Wiki has been nominated for Admin, and his election is less than a day from closing. Because it takes a bureaucrat (or higher) to certify the results of an admin election, we will need the help of one tomorrow. The exact time of scheduled closure is 21:50 (UTC), and the current tally is Support:2, Oppose:0. I'm not sure if that is considered enough voter turnout, but as a normal user, I can't make that call myself. If you have bureaucratic powers, could you help us with that and if not could you contact such a person for us? --User: Roy Al Blue from the Final Fantasy Wiki, 22:30, 19 March, 2006 (UTC)--

That's no problem, I can promote and I'll be there this evening (I had it on my list to see how you were going today anyway :) -- sannse (talk) 09:05, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] AIDS dissent wikicity

I reverted your deletion of the external link to the new dissident wiki. Please do not go back and delete it again. The new external wiki *IS* the new wiki for us, there will be no wikicity. I have already requested Angela to trash the entire wikicity altogether. It is dead, redundant, and stealing google hits from the new site. Thank you. Revolver 05:19, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] LOST protection

Hello,

Thank you, for your comments on the LOST Wiki.

While I'll admit that it seems like a lot of pages are protected, it's mainly templates which are used on all of our character pages. I can't see any possible reason for someone to have to make a change on one of the templates, so as a precautionary measure I protected them to prevent anyone from vandalizing them...a bit silly, but if someone did make a change to one of the templates, it could throw off about 100 pages in the process. Also, there are many templates to choose from, so if someone DID need to make an addition....chances are, there's already a template with that addition on it.

The Spoilers page and Policies page were protected because these pages have no reason to be altered. It's our basis for when information is suitable for addition, and I really don't want someone changing it so they can add information about future episodes (which is prohibited on LOST Wiki).

As for the main page, there's never really been anyone who's asked about unprotecting it (except for one person...who...coincidentally enough, wanted to change the spoiler policy).

I will however unprotect the "Current Events" page....I have no idea why or when I protected it, but there is no reason for it to be protected. :p

Thank you.

--ChristianShephard 16:06, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Reply at User talk:ChristianShephard @LOST -- sannse (talk) 18:28, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Hello again,

Well, I've taken your advice. The Main Page is now unprotected. As are many of the templates.

Pages I've left protected are: Character templates, Episode Template, The template for the main page Article of the Week, and the template for the Airdates for the Main Page.

The Spoilers page is also protected because there is no reason for anyone to change it, as it is a strict rule, and is to be followed. I really don't want to see someone change it, just to allow Spoilers on the wiki. They are not allowed as they are not Canon.

Also, I'd be more than happy to see any favicon you're willing to create for LOST.

Thank you. --ChristianShephard 20:39, 28 March 2006 (UTC) (Talk)

[edit] War Wikia logo help

Hi. Can you help the founders of the War Wikia upload their atomic bomb logo I created for them? It's on the Main Page's Talk page. I'm not an admin there, so I can't upload it as the Wiki.png (I put in on that page as Wikiwarlogo.png) as the founder is politely asking me to do. Thanks! Nhprman 19:13, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Done. I've also uploaded an example favicon to match. -- sannse (talk) 21:53, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] LOST Favicon

Thanks!

[edit] Search Wikia

Re this message at the Search Wikia, thank you for the help and adminship. Although I wouldn't exactly call Search "active". There are 73 entries in Search:Special:Activeusers. For some reason some users are listed more than once; there are 45 unique usernames. 9 of those have user pages. Their last edits were in 2004(25 users), 2005 (15 users), and 2006 (5 users). There are 46 total user pages. There are 33 edits logged in 2006, done by 3 users and 10 ip addresses that I'm guessing were mostly users who forgot to log in first. Active? I don't think so.

Possibly with social bookmarking, there is no need for this Wikia anymore. Also, it seems the database the Main Page claims had 360,367 sites in it, has been lost, so if this project is to be revitalized, it apparently will be necessary to start over.

Thanks again for the assistance, adminship, and encouragement. We'll see what happens.... Charm 03:04, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

P.S. Can you do a 16x16 magnifying glass?  ;) Charm
Any activity is a start :) Sometimes, just one person can get a Wikia going again. It might be that the purpose of the Wikia need adapting to changes, and it certainly looks like some links and so on need reviewing (I'll find out a bit more about this, and the status of the database). And see what I can do with a favicon today - my favourite occupation... 16x16 images :) -- sannse (talk) 08:26, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Sannse, Angela Beesley has expressed the intention to have Search: removed very soon. I have generated a discussion page here. Please contribute any comments you may wish to make. Thank you. Charm 09:54, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi Charm. I'm sorry, I didn't know about that. I've left some ideas on the talk page. -- sannse (talk) 19:07, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Why redirect on main page?

Hi Sannse, just wondering why you put a redirect on sca21:Main Page? Cheers Philralph 07:52, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Just noticed small p, presumably just to do with that Philralph 07:58, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Hi Philralph, yes - it was the small "p". I followed a link (I forget where from now) and came to the Main page, which was blank. So I set up the redirect to stop that happening to anyone else. -- sannse (talk) 08:12, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Collaboration of the Month

You and I seem to be the only people who've commented on this possibility. Since nobody objects, I suggest we be bold and add it. If you can put together a nomination and voting page, I'll put a box on the Main Page, with placeholder text linking to the vote page. Then maybe we can have our first CoTM in May. Seahen 21:06, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Sounds good. I'm not sure where it will fit on the main page, we might have to consider another place (maybe the top of recent changes?) but lets give it a go and see. I'll work on the pages as soon as I have a moment -- sannse (talk) 19:51, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
I suggest making the "Featured Wiki" box only half-width, but taller. (You'd save space overall because last lines of paragraphs wouldn't be as empty.) Then, the CoTM box would occupy the other half of the width. This layout makes sense to me: We're showcasing two wikis at once, to an equal degree, one because it's developed and one because it's undeveloped. It's almost a ying-yang duality. Seahen 21:07, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dead Wiki

Hi Sannse. This Wiki has been abandoned [1] ZelDelet

Thanks ZelDelet. It's only been open for a month, so we will leave it a bit longer to see if the founder finds time to start it, and then consider whether to close it or put it up for adoption. It's still possible that it's not dead, just resting ;) -- sannse (talk) 09:13, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the help at Austin Powers!

Howdy, stranger! Wikipedia's former "Lucky 6.9" here.

It was fun to have been asked to join up by the gentleman who created the "Austin Powers" wiki, especially in light of the fact that he'd originally sabotaged the radio control wiki but had a change of heart. He really wanted this site to take off and wanted an admin/bureaucrat he could trust to shoo off the vandals.

I'm still "Lucky 6.9" at radio control, but I'm "PMDrive1061" at eflightwiki.com. Thought a variation of the Austin Powers theme would be fun over at this new wiki, so I chose "MaxiMe."

Feel free to drop by anytime. I can't tell you how much your help is appreciated. - MaxiMe 23:47, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

No problem, happy to help -- sannse (talk) 08:04, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Status of Ikkepedia.wikia.com

Hei! - Damsleth 12 May 2006.

Hello! I see you have reverted my edit where I inform about Ikkepedia moving to ikkepedia.net. AFAIK, Ikkepedia has been moved, and there's a lot of activity on ikkepedia.net in comparison to ikkepedia.wikia.com. If I am very much mistaken, please let me know. I won't revert the front page, but await your reply. (rough translation of above text)

Hello. I'm sorry to have to reply in English.
It was a shame to see that you have moved on; were there problems here on Wikia? Is there anything we can do to help? There are many advantages in staying at Wikia, and with almost all of the Uncyclopedia family here, there is more possibility for cooperation and growth. The German version is moving to us now, and the Finnish version seems to be having severe server problems, so it may be that you are the only wiki in this group to be outside of Wikia.
On the front page edit: I reverted you because we prefer that other wikis are not advertised on Wikia. Even though you have left, that does not mean that there will not be a wiki here on this subject. The site is still open, and available for someone else to take over if they wish. The interlanguage links on Uncyclopedia and the other Wikia version will go to this site, and maybe that will encourage a Norwegian speaker to start adding content here. We shall see how this goes.
Please let me know if you reconsider your move and would like to stay with Wikia. Hopefully we can help to make that a possibility -- sannse (talk) 12. mai 2006 kl.14:45 (UTC) (Wikia Community Team)
Hi! I'm actually not an administrator for this wiki, I just discovered it and I want to be an active contributor (possibly an administrator in the future). Based on the very low level of activity on this Wiki, I e-mailed the admins and got the response that they had moved to a stand-alone server due to performance issues on this site. I can clearly see the advantages of staying here at Wikia, and I'm sorry for being so "violent" to the front page.
It actually seems that the original team behind this Wiki has abandoned it. How are the rules for changing ownerships of wikis? Are there any difficulties involved with registering a "proper" domain name, and pointing it here? (Like uncyclopedia.org <-> uncyclopedia.wikia.com)
I really want to contribute to this, but I'm not sure where to begin, the wiki having been split in two. I've put some effort into the ikkepedia.net wiki in the last few days, but such data could be transferred, I guess.
Thanks. - Damsleth 06:46, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Reply from [3]:
No worry about the main page, I understand the change - the transition when users fork is always a tricky one.
There isn't really transfer of "ownership", because the wikis don't belong to one person. That means it's easy for someone new to adopt a Wikia and start looking after it. I have made you a sysop and a bureaucrat here, which means you have all the buttons necessary to restart this community - including adding new sysops as needed. I've also added you as adopter on the Central discription page. You may like to look at the Administrators' how-to guide on Central.
Redirecting your own domain name to here is no problem. Just register the name you want, and set up a redirect with your registration company. That's the way Desencyclopedie is set up, if you go to http://www.desencyclopedie.com then you are redirected to http://desencyclopedie.wikia.com . Having a set up like Uncyclopedia, where all pages are at their own URL, is more difficult. At the moment we are not setting up more of these, but it's something that we hope to offer again in the future (which may mean transferring the domain name to Wikia if you have already registered it).
I hope that's covered everything, please let me know if you need help for anything. And good luck in getting this site back going again! -- sannse (talk) 12:08, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Disappearing community portal

Hi, Sannse. I'm a user of the Transformeres wikia at transformers.wikia.com. At some point in the last couple weeks, our community portal and its talk page disappeared as if they had been deleted. They became blank, with no page histories, so they can't be reverted by normal means. There is some vestige of them left in the database, because I can dig out old versions by going through people's contribution lists, but those old versions are not editable in order to do a tidy revert. Here is a link showing, possibly, the last edit of our portal's talk page:

http://transformers.wikia.com/index.php?title=Teletraan-1:_The_Transformers_Wiki_talk:Community_Portal&diff=prev&oldid=12487

One of our sysops, ItsWalky, is my roommate, and he says he can't figure out what happened. Do you have more power than he? Can you restore the pages, or should I just paste in their content and redo all the formatting and links by hand?

--Steve-o 02:45, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi Steve-o. The disapearing history certainly is a strange one. It's one for the technical types, so I've passed it on to Jason. He's going to have a look and see if he can fix it. He can see the problem, so hopefully he'll be able to cure it. -- sannse (talk) 19:16, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, sannse! It's restored now. Hopefully that won't happen again! --Steve-o 03:34, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MIscellaneous Top 10

Hi - perusing through Wikia, I want to commend you for excellent work! Three weeks ago I founded The Top 10. I'm at the point where I would like to get exposure to internet contributors. What are your suggestions for going about this? -- Can you make me a getter favicon? I tried, but it's not clear. I can email the Photshop PSD file if you want to start there. -- Who should go to WikiMania 2006 (I work full time M-F, and it will be difficult to break away)? --Dreams2go 01:08, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Hello Dreams2go, I've seen The Top Ten - it looks like it's going really well.
We have a page about promotion with some good advice. I think the main point is to get out there and talk about what you are doing. If there are communities related to your subject, then they will often be willing to hear about a new wiki. You can also write to bloggers and other writers that might like to know about the wiki and be interested in writing about it. For something like the Top 10, you might think about adding lists that will interest certain communities and inviting them to edit - maybe ask advice on the top 10 Pink Floyd songs at pinkfloydonline.com or ask how you would find the all-time top goal scorers at thefootballforum.net, and so on. The idea is to get your message out there, in a way that will interest people and make them want to look a the wiki. But do be careful that you don't spam. That will put people off and hurt your reputation. The best way is to think of the messages that you would be interested in, and the type you delete on sight. I hope that helps!
No problem on the favicon, I'll look at that today :)
Wikimania is all about wikis, especially Wikimedia wikis, but spreading out to wikis in general. It's for anyone who is interested in wikis and wiki communities. There will be a few of us from Wikia, so it's a good chance to meet the team and some other Wikians. A lot of the programme is still to be decided, but maybe you should have a look at the Wikimania site and see if it's something you fancy!

Thank you! --Dreams2go 18:35, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Page delete...Etc.

Thanks, Sannse, for that page delete on Activism. I wasn't familiar with creating sub-pages, and created one before I realized I wouldn't be able to delete it.

Out of curiosity, how did you even find my request for a delete? I really meant that more as a note to myself. I didn't figure that anyone would notice it, especially not someone who wasn't working directly on Activism. And it wasn't even on my main user page! Anyway, thanks again.

By the way, are admin requirements similar here as they are on the 'pedia? I'd like to do a lot of work on Activism, and if I stick to it, I might be interested in adminship in a few months.

Also, is it possible to create categories for pages on Activism? I don't see any ability to do that...there isn't even a "Random category" link in the navigation sidebar, as on Wikia or Wikipedia. I think categories will be helpful to organize pages by movement. Is it a feature that just needs to be turned on by an admin, or what?

  • I have since figured out how to add categories. But I still wonder, why isn't there a link in the navigation toolbar called "Random Category"?

Nabarry

Admin requirements here are very varied. You can request to adopt a semi-inactive wikia and receive bureaucrat powers almost de-facto, but on a very active wiki the requirements may be more restrictive and cumbersome than even wikipedia (whatever the community agrees on).
To create categories, you should be able to just start adding [[Category:Some category]] tags, and clicking on the red link to create said category. The random category link on the sidebar is simply a link to Special:Random using the namespace parameter, eg: Special:Random/Category (you could have a random user link with: Special:Random/User, for example), and has been added via MediaWiki:Sidebar. -- Splarka 06:26, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
I think Splarka got it all in there (thanks S.) except how I found your message of course. I spend a lot of time wiki-hopping - bringing up the recent changes page of various Wikia and looking at random edits. It's a way to get a feel for what's going on, and finding out where people need help. So I noticed the edit you made and that there wasn't an active admin there to help.
I've added "Random Category" (after a couple of mistakes!) let me know if there is anything else you want changed. And I think with no active admin, it would be a good idea to get one or more sooner rather than later. I think there were two of you particularly active on activism? Maybe an idea to admin you both. Perhaps you two (and anyone else active) could discuss it, and let me know -- sannse (talk) 12:16, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for setting up that Random Category link! It adds a bit of legitimacy, :)
I just left a message on Mark Dilley's userpage, proposing that we both ask for adminship. I also asked him if there are any other active users. There has only been one (!) edit in the past month before I came on board (May 24, 2006). So I think the answer is no. A user named Chadlupkes has made some edits a few months ago, but has no userpage on Activism.

[edit] I have a question:

I'm at the point where I want to establish a message board for my wiki, the Final Fantasy Wiki. Do you have any ideas on how to go about doing this? Thanks! Crazyswordsman

I'm still experimenting with the forum on Central at the moment (Forum:Index) then I plan to start spreading it into other Wikia. But if you want to try it now, then I can add it to finalfantasy straight away. It will have to be in a couple of days time, I'm likely to be away all day tomorrow and maybe quite a bit of Sunday, but then I can get it set up. Alternatively, if you want to do it yourself, it's just a matter of copying all the Forum pages and the templates linked to them. The Forum namespace has already been set up for this. But, as I say, I can do this for you if you like -- sannse (talk) 22:04, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Adminship

Hello, Sannnse - I talked to MarkDilley about adminship, and he said he'd be interested. He looks forward to working on the site with someone. There is no one else really active on the site. So what to we need to do to request adminship?

Nabarry 23:30, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

You just did, and you have it :) I've set both of you as sysop, and left some links on your talk ages. Good luck to you both, and please ask if you need any help or have any questions -- sannse (talk) 07:52, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, Sannse! Thanks especially for the helpful links. Nabarry 21:29, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you from SWFanon!

Thank you so much for cleaning up SWFanon! We are in the process of electing admins, and I for one really appreciate your help. Ewoksfist 18:07, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

We have canditites 4 sysops and really need the leader(s) to be made into sysops. We've had 2 vandal attacks in 2 days and need protection so plz act soon! MaulYoda SW Fanon User

There are complications, as Angela has already said. I need to discuss this with her before admining anybody. Hopefully she will be around today or tomorrow (she is travelling). In the mean time, I'll keep an eye on the place, and will probably put some wider bans in place for a while -- sannse (talk) 06:08, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

I would like to report user:Wikimaniac Clone as a vandal on SW Fanon Wiki. I've already put the ban template on his page, you just need to do the rest. MaulYoda

There is a user going around claiming he's Silly Dan. He is a doppleganger, and is moving pages a lot. We need you, or another admin, to ban this clone, and revert all the vandalism he has done. It is very urgent. Gnosis is knowledge 13:41, 3 June 2006 (UTC) SW Fanon user

Take it easy, Sannse. The kids can manage the damage. [[User:Silly_D%D0%B0n|Silly_D%D0%B0n]] 13:54, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Um, no they can't. If you can't promote a couple of their users to admin status, please reinstate the long term IP range blocks for their wiki's own good. —Silly Dan (talk) 14:01, 3 June 2006 (UTC) (the real one, helping clean up the mess there for some reason)

[edit] A Question

You blocked a lot of ranges on SWFanon. Also, you blocked range 87.xx. Now i can't edit. What's happening? TempMan | Talk 11:11, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

As you've seen, there have been a lot of vandalism and malicious edits on swfanon. They come from those ranges so I will be leaving them blocked, and blocking any further ranges used until this is sorted. Given the clear connection between the range you edit from and the range we are seeing vandalism from, I think it best that you take some time away from the wiki for now. -- sannse (talk) 11:20, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey, why don't you unblock all those ranges on SWFanon? There could be a lot of collateral damage, just to stop one vandal!!!! JimmyCrackedCorn 21:19, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, as neither of you can really say you are fluent in Spanish, I'm afraid you are not the right people to start a Spanish wikia. This will have to wait until there is a Spanish speaker interested I'm afraid. -- sannse (talk) 15:38, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry guys, that's just not enough. To set up another version in a second language you need to be able to communicate fully with the members. Translators and friends is not going to work. This will have to wait until someone who is fluent in Spanish is interested in taking the project on. Please, concentrate on the wikia you already have going -- sannse (talk) 21:16, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nasty page blanking

On the Elderscrolls wiki. It also happened on the Bladerunner Wiki. I was able to get into the page history a bit deeper and fix it, but I could not do that on Elder Scrolls. - Nhprman 00:51, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

There were no previous versions on elderscrolls, there haven't been any edits there yet. On bladerunner, the main page was vandalised then moved. I restored the page at the vandalised title and moved it back, that restored the history (and I reverted the vandalism too of course). All should be back in place now - thanks for letting me know -- sannse (talk) 06:36, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Churches of Rome

Hi, you wrote on the community portal that you'd check if my request for a Wikia (Churches of Rome, romanchurches) has been registered. It's been a month since then, and I'm hoping you have a chance to check now. I'll be forced to take the currect (non-Wiki) site down soon, so when the time comes for review of the request, whoever is responsible might not be able to view the material that already exists and is ready for wiki-formatting and release under GFDL; I'll be happy to find some other way of presenting it. Cnyborg 17:59, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm so sorry, I totally forgot to follow this up. It's not on the list I have access to, I've sent a message to Angela asking her to check the older list and find out what happened this this one. Apologies again -- sannse (talk) 08:13, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
That's OK, no worries. If it turns out that it's not on the list, could you please let me know as soon as possible, so I can submit a new request? Cnyborg 13:44, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Oh, no. I just have no time, Warszawa is not my city; I been admin there only to translate MediaWikia, but becouse I know MediaWiki from a few translation maked earlier, I've decide it will be better when guys will learn something about MediaWiki and get some new abilities. They agreed and I can back there any time. :) Szoferka 08:30, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Well, you could just not use the admin buttons :) but I've desysoped for now, let me know if things change -- sannse (talk) 08:41, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. :) Adminship is maybe (in young project like Warszawa) too symbolic to keep it and don't use. Szoferka 08:47, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki Awards Comitee

Sansee me and the rest of the Wiki Awards Comitee which is just me C3PO the Dragon Slayer and MaulYoda have been discusing and we really want The Wiki Awards to become Annual. We have a category, Article of the Year we hope that winner can become User of the Year or at least User of the Week with his Article as Featured Article. Another category Best Article we hope the winner to become User of the Week and his article featured article after the article of the year goes. We hope some of those medals or honors may be given to everyone who won a award, and maybe a userbox saying this User Has Won this Award at the First and hopefully Anuak Wiki Awards. Please Sansee. The comitee is beging you to see this trough so many people on the star wars fanon wikia have responded to the awards. You can go see the First Wiki Awards page and you are invited like everyone else to the wiki awards this Friday June 30th at 2PM Pacific, 3pm mountain, 4pm central, 5pm Eastern. And please understand the comitee. - Darth Vacatoour and the rest of the wiki awards comitee from Star Wars Fanon Wikia.

As I said on swfanon, you don't need anything from me to do this. You can make this an annual event if you like, just by holding it each year. That's for you and the community to decide, not me. -- sannse (talk) 11:24, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

I understand. But I mean are we allowed to make uSER OF THE YEAR? Isn't that your job to aprove us of doing these edits to the wikia and the main page?

No, not at all. Edits to the main page, and changes to the wikia are totally down to the community. If you want to make a user of the year - that's up to you. I'm just there to help with fixing problems, deleting pages, setting access rights and so on. -- sannse (talk) 07:21, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
