[edit] Config change on Yu-Gi-Oh!

Heya. If you're able to do this, we'd like the $smwgQMaxSize and $smwgQMaxDepth values set to in extensions/SemanticMediaWiki/includes/SMW_Settings.php set to 16 and 8 respectively. We need this to enable to slightly more complex search queries, which will be crucial to the way we're going to be re-defining our searching system. [edit] Checkuser request

Is there a "requests for checkuser" page on Wikia? I am asking because I would like to know if my IP address has been hacked by a vandal. After looking at a user's contributions on Wikipedia, I noticed the user had posted about vandalism on happymeal.wikia.com on the talk page of the user who I think owns the wiki. I went to the wiki, created an account and reverted the vandalism but the vandal has created a new account and vandalised again, and when I go back instead of the vandal being autoblocked, I am autoblocked so I am unable to remove the vandalism. I have only used one IP address, in the 86.169 range, so is it possible to find out what has occurred, whether the vandal has accessed my account, or somehow used my IP address (although I have never edited logged out with this IP address on any wiki, making it unlikely that the vandal would know it), or whether it is just a bug in the software? More specifically the message was "Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "Ronald McGAY". The reason given for Ronald McGAY's block is: "Inserting nonsense/gibberish into pages: vandal"

I think this is a bug, I've checked the IPs and they are clearly different. I've heard of something similar happening elsewhere, but the tech guys will have to look into this and find the cause. Sorry for the problem -- sannse@Wikia (talk) 20:13, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

I was concerned at first that my account, and maybe even my email, had been hacked - it was only when typing my message here that I thought of the possibility of a bug in the software. Hello Sannse, I request adminship for russian part of Memory Alpha [1]. This wiki was abandoned at its beginning and there is no active administrators at this moment. Hi, Sannse! My name's Ken, and I'm a friend of Danny's over on Muppet Wiki, where I've been for about a year and a half. I noticed that people have been talking about inappropriate ads. While I haven't seen any of those over on Muppet, I was wondering if we could block things like ads for unauthorized Muppet merchandise. For example, sometimes I see ads for all 5 seasons of The Muppet Show, when only the first 3 have been released by Disney. We have a whole page of things like this here, and I figured now would be a good time to get rid of these kinds of ads, too. Let me know if you need any more information. Heh, to much Soul Eater for me...

Well, since I keep forgetting to poke you when on IRC, talkpage time!

The Negima! Wiki wants to join Wikia ACG, AJ the Shinigami did confirm it, :/ Though he likes to respond via e-mail so only half the conversation is on his talkpage.

So, it's the usual, but a few more tweaks to:

  • Sysop on me; link
  • Bot on AnimeBot; link
  • Sysop on AnimeBotSys; link
  • It's extra but could you also enable SMW there, I'm going to import the Negima!(?) pages we already have at the Animepedia into the Negima! Wiki, and some of those are already using Semantic Attributes, things will break without SMW on, ;) Plus it's a head start to making the wiki navigable.
  • Oh, also I don't know if you'll do it. But moving the wiki over it's redirect from mahousenseinegima.wikia.com to negima.wikia.com would be good. "Mahou Sensei Negima" is Japanese, and hard to read. The series is normally referred to as "Negima!" and "Negima!?" (The !? is the spin-off), and it would be clearer and show up better on search engines with just Negima.

[edit] Any chance of help for Wikisocial?

Hi Sannse, some time ago an admin (who has bureaucrat status) on Wikisocial changed the style without any discussion. This arguably killed off any substantial editing there, which seems a pity, given good name, 50 articles plus which some of us invested quite a bit of time into, and relatively large number of users (150 overall?). I set up a poll about the changes and there now seems to be a consensus in favour of the old style. The main thing I think is black on white text rather than the other way round. I'm not confident enough to attempt this myself, so asked another admin who used to be active. If there was an easy way of getting back to black on white I'd be happy to contribute now and then, so am wondering if the community team can help in any way? It'd be good if you could reply here to keep discussion together, thanks Philralph @sca21 08:51, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

my name is RaymondAK-47 from the Hebrew wiki of eincyclopedia. i was sent by the management to ask the staff to deal with the bugs in our subsidiary projects and other technical issues we need help in.

first of all, I hope I'm at the right person, if I'm not, please tell me where i should go to speak with someone who can help me. now the problems we have:

  • lack of mental health.
  • in our subsidiary projects when we press on the discussion ("שיחה" in Hebrew) button it takes us to a different page, and it considers it as an article.
  • a lot of the sites users are complaining that when you press the logos of our subsidiary projects it takes them to the main page of eincyclopedia and not of the subsidiary project they were in.
  • a new subsidiary project was voted and excepted in the name of einminim ("איןמינים" in Hebrew) and we need it and its talk pages added to the site. that subsidiary project is a parody of wikipedia's "Wikispecies".
  • a question: is it possible for the subsidiary projects to have a article counter of their own?

Hi. To take the points in turn:

  • I'm afraid there is very little mental health at Wikia
  • That's a strange bug - I've reported it, and will get back to you
  • That's normal behaviour for the logo, it always goes back to the main page (see Uncyclopedia for example). I don't know of a way to change this
  • I'll get this added, but want to be sure the talk page problem is fixed first.
  • It's possible that someone could come up with an idea for this using the site javascript, but I don't know of a way.

I'm confused here... as far as I can see he's only made two blocks this month, both for very obvious vandalism. And at the end of last month you were offering him an admin flag on the wiki you founded... so there can't have been a problem before then. I also don't see any conversations between the two of you and the rest of the community discussing the problems and what to do about them. Perhaps I missed that? In fact, the only real problem I was was some of your comments, which really don't seem appropriate. Hi Lisa
Well basically im sending this request due to the inactivity of many of the Gundam wikia admins. The last active edit was April 8 2008. I would like to adopt this wikia as to keep the main page information up to date.
I have been member for almost a year with about 300 contributions, i would have contributed more but was balancing studies and contributions. I would like to form a new admin group to maintain the information accuracy and stop vandalism.
I have contacted the admin on his user page and has not replied and he has blocked his email so i can not contact him.
I would like to thank you in advance if you allow me to adopt this wikia. If not I understand and would like to thank you for considering the possibility.

I am concerned about the status of the Pokemon Fanon Wikia. I have been editing regularly for several weeks and there has been no administrator activity and very little editor activity other than my own. I oppose. User was recently banned from English pokemon for being a sockpuppet of User:Boss Giovanni, who coincidentally also is an editor there. Also, as a note, there is an active community there, so it's up to the community to decide on an admin. --CharitwoTalk 01:21, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
At the time I was unaware that Sockpuppeting was not allowed. I was not a sockpuppet, I was a puppetmaster, and it will not happen again now that I know it is not allowed. Also, sannse, I now have more proof then ever before that this is Total. Hey there Sannse! I was wondering if you could make me a bureaucrat on the guitar wiki. The wiki has been more or less inactive for some time. I would really like to bring the wiki up to date and with admin powers I could do that better. All the other admins on the wiki are no longer active and the wiki is kind of a mess. The articles were uncategorized, there loads of red links and I noticed that at one point of time a user simply erased all the data from various pages. Hi Jet'ika, it looks like one of the admins has been around just a month ago [3] so it may be worth trying to contact them and offering to help. There are also a few other occasional users around, so it would be best to try and contact other users and get an agreement on new admins. Unless he's mentioned something to you privately, I haven't heard back from the remaining bureaucrat yet. In anticipation of the b'crat rights, is it true that Wikia b'crats are watered down versions of Wikipedia b'crats? Is it still accurate that Wikia b'crats cannot set bots or rename accounts.

Yes, on Wikia bureaucrats can only add admin/bureaucrat/rollback rights, only staff can add bots or remove rights. We don't have merge-accounts, because of the shared database.
And on the right on 24... it's only been a couple of days - Let's look again on Monday. I'm sorry it's taking so long, but we are very reluctant to interfere in communities unless we have to. My pleasure! With regard to the leftover matter, Monday sounds fine to revisit it. And especially, please don't feel I'm asking you to "interfere" in our community! I would not have made the request had I not considered it valid, and completely beneficial for the wiki. As I'm sure you determined already by reading our various talk and forum pages, this change has the potential to offend not a soul, and is necessary, as it has proven demonstrably inadequate for our wiki to have only one partially-active user with the bureaucrat duties.
To help reassure you, I've added a self-nomination right on our admin nomination page, where community members now have the opportunity to voice their support or reservations before Monday. Hello Sannse! I'd like to request a sitename change for the Wikia about Flanders. Could the sitename "Vlaanderen Wiki" be changed to "VlaanderenWiki". A space in the project namespace is ugly, and it's actually a spelling mistake in Dutch/Flemish. I hope it's not too much work for such a small change... Ah I ask quite a few questions.. on Wikia Help, someone asked a question in the Shout Box about founding new namespaces and Angies said that you would be able to help. I was wondering if you would be able to make a News namespace for the Sega Wiki's general Sega-related news, because my solution right now is to put it at Sega_Wiki:News/title and that's not really what we want to use the namespace for. [edit] Sockpuppeteer is back and won't quit (I need advice!)

Sannse, I would like your advice on what to do about that sockpuppeteer on the RuneScape wiki that we oh-so-"lovingly" named "Jaghater" (you may remember Thisguyowns and Jimihendrixowns). Recently, he has been harassing me continuously on both that wiki and the RuneScape FanFiction wiki, where I believe you told him that he had to ignore me, with me doing the same. I have been doing my best to keep that resolution; however, I find that I am no longer able to tolerate Jaghater's immature behavior. He is using an unblocked sock's account, (here's the history) to attack the main RuneScape wiki, and he will not leave me alone on either one. In fact, in contrast to what you thought that he would do on FanFaction (which was edit peacefully), he has not edited at all, proving to me that he's only on BOTH wikis to harass us. Though he hasn't bothered me on FanFiction, on the main wiki just today, at two in the morning, I found that he had placed a hateful message on my talk page, claiming that he had come to harass us even more. Naturally, he was blocked, but I was so furious, I left a message on that sock's talk page that told him VERY bluntly to leave me alone. He has not posted since that time, but I fear that I'm going to blow up and lose my temper again. I am asking you for advice on how to deal with him, because everyone on both wikis is baffled as to why he's being a pain in the ass, even after we thought he was dealt with. Thank you. A number of long Wookieepedia pages are half-covered in a blank whiteness for me, including the Featured Article Nominations page. Hi Goodwood. Yes, it seems to be a firefox bug - something about positioning with css it seems. Hopefully it will be fixed soon, on our end if not on firefox's (FF3 is also driving me crazy with freezing flash, or crashing completely... first of all. let me apologize for my friends... unique English... second, i would like to explain what happened at eincyclopedia. for a long time there has been a slight abandonment of the writing task and a lot of the users noticed it and started working to direct the community back to writing, but suzaman (who noticed the problem as well) did that while using "piquant" language and harsh accusations, and that happening again (last time when it was decided to remove his father from the sysop list due to lack of activity [20 edits in a year!]) a lot of the community got angry, then he said he intends to leave and said he talked to you about quiting (which he did) but the thing that...well... the straw that broke the camel's back was when he went on a forum and said that the site was disgusting and no one should join it.

It looks like there is a problem with accented characters in file names, very strange. It looks like the images that aren't shown on the image page at all may be corrupted, I had problems opening them when I saved a copy ([8] <-- this image for example). Hi, I'm an editor on the Dynasty Warriors Wiki. Our site only has one administrator, Whopper, and he isn't active very often. In fact we have very few (practically none, about 2) regular editors :(

I posted a question on the forum, Forum:A request or a query, about administating myself and another user or two. I followed Charitwo's advice and asked on our sites Community Portal about what they thought and the only other active user has responded in two weeks saying that he agrees another Admin/s is needed.

I nominated him and he nominated me, and due to the lack of regular editors I felt it was stupid to wait longer and so I came here to ask you about Adminship. As we haven't got a bureaucrat either, I was wondering if you Admin both myself and User:Dabigbozz42. Thanks --Aeonlord92

Hi, the best next step is to try and contact Whopper. If you leave a message on his talk page, he should get a notification by mail. If you tell him that the two of you are willing to help out, hopefully he will add you both as admins. If he doesn't respond in a week or so, then I'll flip the switch instead. An admin on Halo fanon has been over ruling anything the other admins say by his opinion including the banning of Whitehwk and The evil omalley. I got banned for getting advice from Omalley for an artcile after he was banned.Omalley was banned because of flaming and repeated spamming of Ajax 013. I have reasons to believe he has overpowered every other admin on Halofanon. So would you please speak to him. I would but he has me muted on the IRC and my IP addres banned from sending messages to him or any other administrator. Would you please speak to him and ask why he bans everyone in sight for not taking his advice on articles. And ask him why he thinks I was helping Omalley ban dodge. I ask you because i trust you'll make the right decision. User: Whitehwk

From what I see of O'Malley's actions on the wiki, his ban was very wise. As for your ban, I understand that the initial part of the problem was on IRC. So I can't look at that, but I trust the admin team to look at the situation and decide if the ban is fair. I understand that you feel the other admins are being over-ruled by one, but any admin can remove a block, or question the block - I believe they will do that if necessary.
My suggestion is, to leave the wiki alone for a while, just back off and let things calm down. Then contact a user in good standing who you think you can work with, and ask them to contact an admin for you. They can just ask if the admin will discuss the situation with you, and try to resolve the problems. Right now, I have set my own preferences so I see things in the "Standard (Classic)" skin. I like a couple of things about it (especially, I hate sans-serif type!) and if I have any say in the matter. I'd really prefer a custom skin for Broadcasting, though I don't know CSS well enough to actually create such a thing. Sure, do you have any ideas for colour schemes? One way to choose is to use a template and play around with the colours a bit. There's one at Image:Skin base.png which might help. It's a general move to standardise the look of all Wikia wikis a bit more (although you can customise Monaco). we are visiting wikis all over Wikia at the moment to help them transfer to the new skin. It's partly for the adversisers, so that they see us as one "package" and not lots of little sites, partly so that we can concentrate on developing one sking, and partly because we believe Monaco is a better skin - especially for new users. I'm sorry for the inconvenience in thsi, but hopefully I can help if you want to make Monaco a bit yours. The problem with the Polish wiki may have been caching... it's working for me. Are you still seeing that as broken? What exactly do you see? Are the links missing? or do they just go to the wrong place?
$wgAppleTouchIcon isn't one of the variables I am able to change. I've contacted one of the technical team to help, so will get back to you when I know more. It may be that the version of MediaWiki that we are using is before the version that was introduced in - although I don't think so from the documentation. Ah,the lang module is working on all sites now.Before,it only showed Polish on CBW PL (Custom Bionicles Wiki PL).As for $wgAppleTouchIcon,it seems that Wikia wikis are running on an older revision than the one that introduced $wgAppleTouchIcon (Wikia runs on 1.12.0r817,stated in Special:Version,the one that introduces $wgAppleTouchIcon is 1.12.0r29942).However,I stopped by Bioniclepedia and they announced that "Bioniclepedia now has an iPhone icon.".iPhone icon is the same thing as $wgAppleTouchIcon,if I'm not mistaken,so I'm not sure what's the problem.--Seth 19:21, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

I don't have a date for the upgrade to 1.13 yet, but I've heard the techy types mention it a few times, so hopefully not too far away. Hi DCLXVI. Yes, translations have got somewhat off-track on our part since Rieke moved on. But we are trying to get things working again now. Avatar has set up a mailing list at http://lists.wikia.com/mailman/listinfo/wikia-translations-l and I'm going to set up a new section in the Central Forums today. We won't be giving out admin flags for messaging, but we will be setting up better ways of communicating that translations are ready and getting them live. We are also looking into the translation extension that BetaWiki use. So, for now, please just point me or other staff towards the translations you've done and we'll get them live. Hi, I'm Pfenner a Nonciclopedia's admin.

We're having some technical problem, I resume them in the following points:

  • All the pages under the namespace NonDizionario are disappeared and we can't retrieve them, this happened after the creation of this namespace.
  • The new namespace NonNotizie seems to be ignored from the articles count.
  • We can't use the "upload image" during the edit of an article: after uploading an image, the "insert image" button doesn't work.

  • This is being fixed. They should have been moved before the namespace was made (and moved back afterwards) but that bit was missed - oops! They will be back shortly.
  • Can you list all the namespaces that should be included in the article count? I'll make sure all is set up correctly
  • I see the issue with the "upload image" button - I'll get this reported. The problem is that this button has been replaced by a new system, but that new system is only available on Monaco skin. I'll find out more.

It looks as though there is the begninings of a community there, all starting on the wiki at a similar time. As always, I say "probably" because they could be other people on the same ISP (or in Nub cheesecake's case the same IP). But the connections look pretty clear.
If this continues, you may be able to catch some of them with range blocks, although they would have to be wide and you may have problems with innocent users being in the same range. Let me know if you want to look at this.

Hey Sannse, the current admin hasn't been active for 3 years on this wiki (http://audioengineering.wikia.com/), so I'm asking you to take care of a an image for me (as my topic in the help desk sort of went unanswered for a few weeks).

I have a logo for the wiki (http://audioengineering.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Logo.png), but I don't have admin privileges to make it override the default Wikia image.

Hi, I've uploaded the logo, looks good! Would you like admin rights there by the way? I see you've done some work in improving the place...
On changing the skin, there is a guide on the help wiki. The short version is, you need to switch to "default" skin in your preferences (choose the "skin" tab and scroll down to the admin choices). Then you need to edit MediaWiki:Monaco.css
There is a second guide to making dark skins at w:c:help:Help:Customizing_Monaco/Dark_skin, which also gives a link to WoWwiki's css page at http://www.wowwiki.com/MediaWiki:Monaco.css

Hi Sannse,

I need an advice about a recurent vandalism on this page. This is an history link that show the diff of the original and vadanlize version of the page. I've block the IP and i revert it but it's the second time i do that in two days. It's also around the sixth time in the last few months.

Is there a better way to deal with this sort of thing ? Maybe protecting from anon for a few month ? At first the page didn't even exsited so was thinking of reporting it to be blocked from creation but there is a link from another page.

Yesm I'd say semi-protecting is the best thing. It looks like it's got on a spam-bot's list, so it will probably be spammed every now and then until the list is changed. Protecting against anon edits should work well. -- sannse@Wikia (talk) 13:21, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

I had a disscussion on this on the help page and asked about how a job queue works and apparantly its meant to take one job and execute it for every page load, however according to the people on the help desk (and checking myself) it is revealed that all the jobs from the job queue are executed in one go, every so many days (leaving big gaps inbetween jobs being exected), is there a way to set it so 1 job is executed every page load?

The reason the job queue is only cleared every now and then, is because those tasks are heavy on the servers. Or at least, they are when there are a lot of them. If a page needs something updated, it will happen as the page is opened (for example if the job is to update the content of a template), but otherwise the updates are queued to happen at quiet times and save resources (which applies to most special page updates). It's a compromise between good site speed and regular database updates.

Its just sometimes its a bit annoying when you update a template and it doesn't show in certain parts (it took two days for a template change to effect the wanted pages list)

I'm having some problems editing on all of Wikia. Whenever I press the edit button my computer asks if I want to save a file called "index" or sometimes it says "wikia", etc. I can only seem to press the "leave comment" button.Also whenever there's a heading, on any wiki, it shows numbers from 1 onwards for each heading. And also whenever I go into the edit screen the edit button don't show up. Is this just with me or is this some kind of bug on Wikia. I tries everything, even restarting my computer. Have you had this problem on any other sites? I've not heard any other reports of this so far. It's always worth clearing your cookies and cache, although I'm not sure it will help in this case. Does this happen on all pages? or just some. If it's just some, please can you give me the links of some pages it happens on. You may need to consider updating your browser, if that's possible. It happens on any page when I press the "Edit this page" button. A file starts to get saved called "index.php". Then inside that file, when I look at it on MS Word, or most of the programs, it contains the following text:

It contains different text when im at different pages, this one is when I tried to edit the main page of the Nature Wiki. And then only when I do use the URL the file has provided to edit can I edit. But it gets annoying to keep having to add the "&internaledit=true" part to the correct URL when I want to edit. Even then my problems continue, such as the edit buttons not appering, etc. All these problems only seem to happen on this account. I tried editing logged out and on another account and it worked okay, but still had a bit of problems. Although, I still need this account as it contains a lot of things that I can't transfer over to a new account. Any idea how I can do someyhing about this? Hi, sorry for the slow reply. I see what's wrong. You have "Use external editor by default" selected in your preferences, and so the wiki is trying to export the page to another program for editing. OK, that was a bit tricky, but I've got most of it sorted. The namespaces exist, and the article tabs are all set correctly. However, the talk page tabs seem to be trickier, it may not be possible without some really fancy js or something. TOR is looking into it for us. The tagline is fixed too, you just needed a small change in the common.css

Requests for some more namespaces:

  • Project - the page tab should be "Project" and the talk page tab should be "Discussion".
  • Team - the page tab should be "Team" and the talk page tab should be "Discuss".

Also please delete the Naturestories namespace and replace it instead with "Naturebooks", the page tab should be "Book" and the talk page tab should be "Comments". Sorry about this but the Project proposer seems to have had a change of mind. >_>

One more thing, last time I forgot to say which new namespace's pages should count towards the article count. They should be the "NatureNews", "Dictionature" and "Naturebooks".

OK, the namespaces are set up, and the "count". You can see from my contributions how I changed the article tab, just watch out for the case, the names of the pages have to be lower case. I hate to dig up old things, but if you remember, you did a CheckUser on me which proved I was from Ontario, and nothing else. Well Stinkowing took it one step too far, and continually claimed I was my friend Tyler, who is currently working in Alberta as we speak. Christine proceeded to IP range ban me for no reason whatsoever, except for the CheckUser you performed which once again only proved that I'm in Ontario, and NOTHING ELSE. Well recently, for some reason, the range ban kinda...er...stopped?..and so I labelled the remaining subpages I had on the RuneScape Wikia for deletion. Well, once again, Stinkowing took his assumptions and reblocked my account with the following message: "Ban/block evasion....Total again". I cannot stress enough how angry I am with Stinkowing's stubbornness and I am amazed that he's still a sysop, what with his current attitude towards me, simply because I am a close friend of Tylers.

I was wondering if you could maybe talk to him, straighten things out, and maybe get this pathetic block removed, since all he tends to do is flatout spam me with "CHECKUSERS DON'T LIE!". He can't seem to get the fact that the Checkuser only proved that I live in Ontario through his head, and also because this block is unfair and unjust, and it's simply the sysops playing communist over at the RSW. I thought I'd leave a new message, to make sure you see it. If the active user on SWGames was Brentpowell, he was just removing content from his user page etc and will not be editing again (most likely).

About KrazyKat, he keeps reverting or going against things that I and other users do, also one other admin has agreed with me, the other admins are only occasionly acitve and only made him an admin on my recommendation (I thought he was up to it). KrazyKat's removal is fairly urgent, as there have been a few major problems, such as editing of the skin daily and copying which resulted in us having Darthipedia's skin for at least a day due to me being on holiday, and the other admin unable to undo the edit or contact wikia. Darthipedia also had a particulary unsuitable skin for the R&C wiki that day, considering the games are rated 3+ to 12+, I won't specifiy... That is one of few large problems we've had with the user, he's a great editor, just not so good with the admin side yet. He also does major things without hte consent of the community, which is yet another reason. It may turn out to be this way jut for a few months or something, but a prime example of why I wanted it to be done quickly was how the user reverted my edit, in which I moved the main page as suggested by the wikia google ranking page, without consulting me, or even asking me about it.

I can't give legal advice of course :) but generally speaking, any text written by someone else is likely to be copyrighted. Very old text may not be, and the author may have made specific decisions to allow copying, but otherwise you should assume that it's not OK to copy it. Hi Sannse,

I'm still working hard as an Admin on my Wiki but I have a question to ask that I can't figure out the answer to.On other wikis that I edit/visit project page titles, using the Final Fantasy Wiki as an example, are Final Fantasy Wiki: (Page).

However, on our site they are merely Dynasty Warriors: (Page), this is annoying as, for titles of some of our articles (namely game articles) we need to use colons, but if we do the site thinks it's a project page.

Is there anyway to change the project pages to Dynasty Warriors Wiki: (Page) as this is starting to become a pain?

Help is always helpful :) A "Wikia Helper" is quite a formal role, but perhaps you could start off by showing how you can help around Central and other wikis in an informal way. For example, you could answer questions on the forums, look out for and tag pages that shouldn't be on Central, help with editing on help.wikia or other wikis, and generally see what you can do to make things better for other contributors. It sounds like they have a virus or other malware on that computer. It's hijacking your browser to redirect you to spam instead of the pages you are trying to get to. Hello Sannse. On Star Wars Fanon, we're currently having a discussion about a new Sockpuppet Policy and whether or not we should allow users to register new accounts (the old ones would be banned) if they want a name change. In the current proposal, they would only be allowed to do this once without having to provide any legitimate reasons. What is the Wikia perspective on allowing users to register new accounts for the sole purpose of having a new user name. As a note, I'm not asking this on behalf of SWF but rather out of personal curiosity, so if you could let me know here or on my talk page that would be fantastic. We don't really have an opinion on this as such :) it's a local wiki decision. However, I have often suggested this to users (where it's not against a local wiki's policy). We don't have a way at the moment for users to change their username, and there can be all sorts of good reasons for someone to want to change their name... from a bad choice of their original name to simply their tastes changing. And as we can't currently make the change completely, and move their contributions to a new name, I generally suggest they simply make a new account and leave a note on their old user page to explain. I don't consider this "sockpuppeting" if they do the change openly and without any intent to decieve other users. On the other hand, I would understand that it might get annoying if a user were changing his name and account over and over again. I started the discussion on the community portal, where the only edit was a correction someone felt was necessary - however no replies were ever made. After about a week or two you went on vacation, so I thought I'd just let the issue hang until you got back (also giving more time for others to find the request). [edit] We have over 500 pages vandalized by one IP, is there a way to cancel all edits from 1 IP?

One vandal that has really spent a lot time to replace almost all not protected pages with text "shit" in finnish.

It would be great to have a tool for sysops to see all changes from one IP and be able to cancel all those changes, as vandals rarely make good changes.

Hi, I see that Uber gave you a hand with the clean-up. It's not possible on Wikia to remove all changes by an IP at the moment, but one tip is to go to their contributions page and click "rollback" on all edits while holding the ctrl key. Hey sannse, could you create an Infobox: namespace over on the Narutopedia?

I know it's a bit early to add it for the Jutsu infoboxes, since they won't work till Semantic Forms is installed. However, I've been noticing a lot of minor data disputes on the Narutopedia. Users keep adding false, or unnecessary information to the infoboxes, and they don't seam to discuss is properly. I'd rather not go needlessly protecting entire pages, when the only place that bad edits are being made to is to the infoboxes. So it could be potentially useful to separate infoboxes from the articles. I'm not entirely sure what you mean. Do you mean the article mainspace? If not, I don't think so. I guess the best way to answer this, really, is to ask: are our "DL" and "HP" namespaces in the article count?
