[edit] Color templates trouble
Hi, i'm not sure what happened to the wikicode parser but it's not working the same anymore. So, we have troubles with some templates now. We, at the french Guild Wars Wikia [1], are using a bunch of templates in wich we put "#AD0", "#0FD" and the like, so we can easilly have the sames colors everywhere needed. But now, it some time break layout or make the color code appear. Can you think of some advice ? Thanks. — TůζipVõrζąx Talk 09:01, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Not anymore... It seems it was temporairy. What are they doing exactly ? I saw a lot of tiny change in the the software aside from the new search engine. The version page say we are on 1.10alpha. That's a little weird because nobody warned us about this. But maybe it will be great.
- So, thanks anyway and see you later. ;-) — TůζipVõrζąx Talk 18:42, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oh! It's one of my administrator who corrected thoses templates. He replaced the # caracter by the equivalent HTML entity (see [2]). I had thinked about that but did not tried it. But i was not sure why the way it was suddently begin to cause problem. See ya. — TůζipVõrζąx Talk 01:33, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Here something where you might be able to help : [3]. We dont understand was is breaking layout of that page. Thanks. — TůζipVõrζąx Talk 03:05, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Lol! This new version of mediawiki is so weird. I've edited the page; problem was gone. I revert it so you can see it. It's still gone. What the...
- Can you help shed light on that sort of behavior ? Is it just because we have 7 thousan page in queue ? — TůζipVõrζąx Talk 03:22, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Do you know why all the "contribs" links here appear as "new" and shown in red (<a href="/wiki/Special:Contributions/Kumarhk"class='new'>contribs</a>)? G.He(Talk!) 05:40, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] namespace request for french uncyclopedia
hi splarka
i'm a sysop for the french uncyclopedia (desencyclopedie.wikia.com), and we are planning to have our "UnNews". could we have a "Désinformation" namespace please ? thank you for your help. --Thaumasnot 19:46, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. There is another problem though : http://desencyclopedie.com redirects to http://www.wikia.com which used to redirect http://desencyclopedie.wikia.com, but this doesn't work anymore since a week. Could you see to it, please ? Thanks ! --Thaumasnot 08:55, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry to bother you about this one, but I wanted to mention that our talk pages are called "Discussion" in french ;) This translation doesn't seem to have been enforced for the forum namespace. Could you also see to it ? --Thaumasnot 10:08, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] hi hi
hi Splarka. Thanks for pointing out the errors from perfectworld.wikia.com much thanks.. :) ^__^
btw.. the sorting works.. but i just noticed that the images won't get sorted. in here the (Tipo,Categoría,Concurso images) get sorted-> http://es.pokemon.wikia.com/wiki/Lista_de_Movimientos
but my (element).. won't -> http://perfectworld.wikia.com/wiki/Monster_List
just wanna know if theres something wrong i did; what it is; and how do i get it to work ^__^
- Priss
- Hmm, I am not sure why that doesn't work for you but does for them. Keep experimenting? --Splarka (talk) 07:30, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 24um
Thank you so much for fixing the Wiki 24 forum problem. It's greatly appreciated. Can you tell me where I change the colors of the heading and the Last Edit on the index? White on white doesn't work very well, and neither does black on dark grey. Thanks again. --Proudhug 18:37, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
I switched it to black, but yeah that's much better. Where do I change the color of the black Last Edit date text on the forum index page? --Proudhug 08:15, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
--Splarka (talk) 08:51, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
Excellent, thanks again. Hey, is there a central location where all of this monobook.css stuff can be found? --Proudhug 23:03, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, not really, as that is part of the user-definable content (which can be different on thousands of wikis). I just set it dark for you in Monobook.css (as opposed to Common.css which should be used for content rather than user interface) because it would look funny to have it dark in other skins (like smoke).
- Some links to help:
- Also, to see what can be changed, view a page source, and check what class or id the element has. --Splarka (talk) 05:34, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Javascript
Catherine said you knew a good lot about Javascript, so I was wondering if you knew how to add a tab(at the same place where "article" "discussion" "edit" etc. are) that on being clicked, adds a template(mainly the delete temp) to the top of the page. I've already done a fair amount of stuff w/ js, and I've gotten something similar to this to work, but I can't make it work quite right. Thanks, Pinky49
- See User:Splarka/tricks#Simple_top.2Fbottom_edit_page_insertion_tabs (just created this section). --Splarka (talk) 02:46, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- FYI: Won't work on 1.9.3 wikia yet (like Wookieepedia currently) unless you copy the addPortletLink from the 1.10+ wikibits.js ... works on swfanon though. --Splarka (talk) 02:52, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I tested it on swfanon. Is there any way to make it show up on the actual page, instead of the edit page? Thanks, Pinky.

[edit] Re: User: ZombieTsuki
This is from Bureaucrat RePmGu of TPSB Wiki. Indeed, ZombieTsuki was the only one that required revocation of adminship. Thank you very much for the support; hopefully this is the proper way to show appreciation. RePmGu 03:41, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- Are yous till online Splarka? I saw that forum in recentchanges and took a look out of curiosity. RepmGu has resysopped the bad admin... not sure if he's a vandal or had his account hijacked. Scottch 06:45, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- WTF. --Splarka (talk) 06:48, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
No, I am not a vandal, nor have I been hijacked. Admittedly, I did something stupid. I was already acquainted with the user ZombieTsuki, and he and I had a discussion about his unbanning. The discussion quickly turned morbid, and by the end of the conversation I was convinced that the person in question had turned suicidal, so I gave back to him admin status. Of course, right afterward, he revealed that it was a hoax. I'm somewhat naive by nature, but this was just a very large blunder on my part. My apologies. RePmGu 07:25, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
This is actually a retraction to my previous paragraph (it'll be in the History). After deliberating with the other administrators, we feel we can maintain our Wiki within reasonable control, and that a stunt like today's won't happen again, as long as all admins are consulted about important decisions (like new administrators, for example). As far as activity goes, we've agreed that there will be some point where article creation will hit a ceiling, but new information is constantly filtering in, enough to warrant attention. I would also like to request that RePmGu be made a Bureaucrat again. He is the originator of the Wiki, after all. --KalasHawk 08:42, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll re-create him as a bureaucrat in a few days if there are no objections (other than from ZombieTsuki). --Splarka (talk) 09:55, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Reason for Deletion
- Splarka, not to bother you since you've already helped me a great deal, but could you add a tab that allows me to give a reason for deletion? I have an idea of have to do it, but I don't think I can get the coding quite right. Thanks again, Pinky49
- How do you mean? You mean a tab on the article page that one-click deletes with a pre-defined reason? Give this a try:
// ================================================================================
// START Automated deletion button script system - by Splarka
// ================================================================================
// Adds customizable one-click deletion buttons to any deletable page.
addOnloadHook(checkdelete);
function checkdelete() {
if(queryString("submitdelete")=="true") document.getElementById('deleteconfirm').wpConfirmB.click()
}
if(wgNamespaceNumber != -1) addOnloadHook(addDeleteButtons)
function addDeleteButtons() {
if(!document.getElementById('ca-delete')) return
var url=document.getElementById('ca-delete').firstChild.href
//examples:
addPortletLink('p-cactions', url + '&submitdelete=true&wpReason=' + encodeURIComponent('This is spam') ,'delete spam','ca-delete1');
addPortletLink('p-cactions', url + '&submitdelete=true&wpReason=' + encodeURIComponent('This is an unused redirect'),'delete redirect','ca-delete2');
}
function queryString(p) {
var re = RegExp('[&?]' + p + '=([^&]*)');
var matches;
if (matches = re.exec(document.location)) {
try {
return decodeURI(matches[1]);
} catch (e) {
}
}
return null;
}
// ================================================================================
// END Automated deletion button script system
// ================================================================================
- No, I was thinking something that once clicked, adds a popup. Then you enter in a reason, and it adds that reason. There's similar message coding on my monobook at swf.
- Maybe you can describe the exact sequence of events: Are you on the main view, deletion page, edit page, or other/any when you click? It opens a popup, you enter a reason, and it is deleted then? or what? --Splarka (talk) 05:14, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, main view, you click on the top, enter a reason, then it adds {{delete|''reason you entered''}} to the top of the page and submits. Hopefully that clears it up a little. -Pinky
- You probably would find a custom edit button helpful, to insert {{delete|''reason you entered''}}. See below for example. --Splarka (talk) 10:26, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
if (mwCustomEditButtons) {
mwCustomEditButtons[mwCustomEditButtons.length] = {
"imageFile": "http://images.wikia.com/central/images/b/b5/Button_Jadernyhrib-cloud.png",
"speedTip": "Tag with {{delete}}",
"tagOpen": "{{delete|''",
"tagClose": "''}}",
"sampleText": "reason"};
}
- Its not showing up for me for some reason. Its supposed to show up at the top of the page w/ a bunch of other images, right? I've tried to do it myself, but not with much luck. Below is a code based on yours(doesn't work right now). {{SUBST:User:Pinky49/sig}}

[edit] Emergency at the french uncyclopedia
hi splarka
We have a huge bug at desencyclopedie: http://desencyclopedie.wikia.com/ now leads to a page with only a single backslash. All pages starting with http://desencyclopedie.wikia.com/wiki begin with this backslash and shifts the whole display. Could you please see to it ? I couldn't thannk you more for helping on this ! :( Well maybe they are working on the http://desencyclopedie.com redirection problem... --Thaumasnot 20:50, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Wow just as i wrote you they solved both problems lol Well, I use the opportunity to thank you for your help anyway. All issues were solved :) BIG THANKS --Thaumasnot 20:52, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Can i have some help, please?
Hi I'm Lordofmonsterisland. I need help on Wikizilla. I'm trying to get some userboxes and the username template but I can't figure it out. Could you possibly put all the userboxes from my userpage on Halopedia or at least tell me how? But I do need the username template.
- To copy a userbox, you have to copy the template and the image (if it has one). So for example, to copy:
{{Frag Grenade Userbox|loves}}you go to the template at: w:c:Halo:Template:Frag Grenade Userbox, click edit, and copy it to the same pagename at godzilla.wikia. Also, you have to copy w:c:Halo:Template:Userbox (just once for all userboxes). Then you find w:c:halo:Image:M9 HE-DP Grenade.jpg, save it locally, and re-upload it (preserving the copyright info). --Splarka (talk) 07:04, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Bug or Feature request ?
Hi Splarka, the newly integrated extension DPL2 has a bug : the server returns a blank page when you use the "includepage" parameter inside a DPL tag. I understand that this may not be as much a bug as a nice feature (the ability to include sections from selected other pages). Anyway, could you please file this problem to the technical staff ? Thanks. --Thaumasnot 10:15, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Template Troubles
Hey Splarka, long time no see. At any rate, the template I've been using for my news page is causing me a bit of trouble when I want to link outside somewhere in the main body {{{6}}} part. For example, if I wanted to create a link like this, the template would break. Any ideas? --LordTBT Talk! 12:40, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- That happens because you have an equals sign in the URL, which will mess up the template parameter defintions (the equals sign is a delimiter between the parameter name and parameter value: {{foo|1=bar|2=baz}}). You can fix this by always using
6=for the 6th parameter, or you can do what is usually done for large dynamic templates and give them all names. --Splarka (talk) 05:01, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi I am Stryker and I was wondering if you could help me. I have put in a request for a Pendragon wiki. (The books). I would like to know how long I can expect to wait before finding out if it has been approved or if I can go ahead and make one. Thanks so much. Stryker.
[edit] Re: redirection bug for the french uncyclopedia
Hi Splarka
Redirection of http://desencyclopedie.com doesn't fully work : the opened pages have no images.
For example, please compare http://desencyclopedie.com/wiki/France to http://desencyclopedie.wikia.com/wiki/France
Thank you for helping on this. --Thaumasnot 20:40, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Newskin
Is newskin now permanent because I can't change back? If so, I would like to request help on reformatting my wiki so that I can keep the blue background that was there before.
Thanks,
Wikada - Talk Contributions 22:02, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- If by newskin you mean slate or smoke, then for the time being one of the two will be set as the visitor default for pretty much all Wikia sites. Any logged-in user can change it back to monobook in their preferences, but logged in users are a minority to most page views. I can fiddle the colors back to blue for you, probably. Which wikia is this in referece to? You edit on a lot ^_^. --Splarka (talk) 00:39, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- Oh this is for the Sega Wiki and yes I did mean slate/smoke. My formatting is all different too.. back to the original redlinks/bluelinks instead of the one you made for me before. If you could do this it would be GREAT! Thanks, Wikada - Talk Contributions 17:05, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
