Wikia - creating communities

Wikia conducted user surveys as part of a brand audit in July 2006. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this!

The questions were an attempt to understand what our users believe Wikia stands for and should stand for. The honest and thoughtful responses received were most appreciated.

Thanks again to everyone who participated in this survey. Wikia is—and always will be—your site. Your views will always be important.

The first section of the survey asked about the "marketplace" that Wikia is in, with questions asked about the purpose of Wikia and what people are using it for, how it compares to the competition, our strengths and weaknesses, what users like and dislike, and the imagery that Wikia elicits. The second part about the vision, and explored users' opinions on Wikia's future. The perspectives section asked users to imagine Wikia as a person, car, animal, etc, and asked what Wikia should be if it were those things.

The comments received will help guide our future company positioning. Our goal is to make Wikia the site you want it to be, always providing the most high-quality content in the safest environment. And of course, always free.

The questions themselves had to be removed since they could not be released under the GFDL. However, see brand survey for some of the responses. You can also read this survey which has had the non-GFDL questions removed from the answer.
