Welcome to the Alternate History Wiki. This Wiki was initially an outgrowth of the creative energies exhibited on the Yahoo! Conculture group, which itself is an outgrowth of the Brown University Conlang mailing list.

How You Can Contribute

Any and all original alternate histories are permitted here. You are welcome to contribute any pages you wish, whether it be a minor sketch of an alternate history or an entire story that's fully-fleshed out. Should you have suggestions or material you'd wish to add to an existing alt-history, please contact the author to discuss integration, or propose it on the discussion pages. Please make sure you understand the typical definition of Alternate History, found in the What is Alternate History page. While Future Histories are interesting, as is Science Fiction, these are not within the scope of our wiki. Note that only those timelines which are created by the author should be posted and not those which are derivative work.

While at this time we are only exhibiting pages relating to our Alternate histories, we aren't ruling out the possibilities of discussion, or description pages to help would-be alt-historians get off to a good start.

We currently have 4,911 pages (excluding category pages) and look forward to growth!

Viva California

An Alternate History based upon the premise that the United States terribly mishandled the Mexican-American War. This critical mismanagement lost the lives of many leaders that would save both the Mexican-American War, and ripple effect into the future wars of the continent. With the war with Mexico lost Manifest Destiny was thus drastically changed.

The Main Points of Divergence in the Viva California Universe are:

  • The Mexican-American War was a bust, despite the manpower that the US had to throw at it.
  • The Civil War was won by the Secessionists, as the military leadership that saved the war here was killed in the Mexican-American war or within the first years of the Civil War.
  • Texas refused to join the United States. (Click for more...)
