[edit] Philanthropy REMIXThe time has come for Philanthropy REMIX - new solutions. We can propel solutions to our common societal challenges by mixing the best from social entrepreneurs, philanthropy, private enterprise, the public sector, and community activism. The result: REMIX - new solutions.
Philanthropy is a familiar term that encompasses the ideas of private action for public good. In its fullest form it is social entrepreneurship, it is volunteer work, it is foundation giving, it is mutual aid, and it coordinates with, augments or challenges its partners in the private and public sectors.
The wiki is structured along the lines of these three dominant sectors and their influence on philanthropy. There are topical pages for the public sector, the private sector and markets, and communities. Each of these broad topics has several subtopics - all of which are linked and related in reality - but each of which also deserves distinct attention. For each topic and subtopic I intend this space to be a place for commentary, analysis and opining on major trends or developments influencing philanthropy. Useful resources - publications and people - are noted and cross-referenced. This perspective on philanthropy is mine. It is useful to the degree that it helps foster and guide us through this wiki-based discussion about philanthropy. To the degree that it hinders discussion, it will be changed. My intention is that contributions to this wiki will come from any and all who have a stake in or opinion about philanthropy as described above. The elegance of the technology - both the wiki and tagging - is that we can all contribute the information we believe is relevant in the ways we think it is relevant and the community can agree, disagree, cross-post, and comment. For more information about me and my perspectives please go to either Philanthropy 2173 or Blueprint Research & Design, Inc..
