USS Enterprise
Class: Enterprise-class aircraft carrier
Registry: CVN-65
Affiliation: United States of America
Status: Unknown

The USS Enterprise (CVN-65) was Earth's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, launched by the United States of America in 1960.

The Enterprise was docked at Alameda Naval Base in 1986, when it was boarded by a man suspected of being a Soviet agent. In fact, this man was Starfleet Commander Pavel Chekov, who had travelled into the past aboard a captured Klingon starship, and was attempting to collect high-energy photons from the carrier's nuclear reactor to recrystalize his ship's dilithium. (movie: Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)

An image of this Enterprise was displayed in Captain Jonathan Archer's quarters aboard the Enterprise (NX-01). (Star Trek: Enterprise) A sculpted image was also featured on the wall of the conference lounges of both the USS Enterprise-D and the USS Enterprise-E. (Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: First Contact).

In The Voyage Home, the USS Ranger stood in for the Enterprise, which was at sea during filming. The US Navy has scheduled the ship for retirement by 2015. Enterprise is now homeported in Norfolk, Virginia.
