Trak Nar was the Rodian/Human hybrid son of Camilla Sookanado. The result of genetic manipulation, Trak was not expected to live for long and was placed for adoption by the local childrens' services as his mother was not deemed fit to care for him. He lived in one foster home after another until he aged out of the program, eventually moving into his mother's old apartment. Trak took a job as a VJ for the HoloNet music channel WJDI. He worked there for three years, earning a modest income, before circumstances forced him to quit. He spent his days hanging out with two Jedi, the Twi'lek Ric'ah T'rib and her padawan Dareth Pan'dha. It was through Ric'ah that Trak was reunited with his mother, Camilla, after nearly twenty years.

[edit] Biography
Trak Nar was a Rodian/Human hybrid, the result of genetic manipulation and born to a mentally-ill mother, Camilla "Cami" Sookanado. Cami suffered from a severe form of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and was determined to be an unfit parent. Thus, Trak was taken into custody of the local welfare agency and put up for adoption. Due to his mixed parentage, Trak was plagued with genetic defects, including eventual blindness, and many foster families were hestitant to care for him. As a result, Trak was moved from one foster home to another, unable to find a permanent family. He was not told of his mother, as the welfare staff felt that he should not be in contact with "someone so unstable."
When Trak aged out of the foster program and finished school around 24 ABY, he was given the keys to Cami's old apartment in CoCo Town, as had been specifically requested by his mother. Cami, however, did not reside there, instead living in a group home due to her mental illness. All Trak knew was that it belonged to his mother, whom he did not even know her name. Trak took a job with the local HoloNet music channel WJDI, working as a VJ. He worked with two other Rodians, Jarik and Allornni. He had been employed for nearly three years when toward the end of 26 ABY he met two Jedi, Ric'ah T'rib and her padawan Dareth Pan'dha. The Jedi were on Coruscant to oversee the reconstruction of the Jedi Temple. Trak saw this as an oppertunity to obtain exclusive interview rights and tagged along with the Jedi, offering to let them room in his apartment.
Trak's job was not as glorious as he let others think it was, there was animosity between him and most of the other employees due to his mixed parentage. One of the VJs, a rival shock-jock named Ken, made comments about Trak on-air, angering co-worker Jarik. Jarik attacked Ken and Allornni defended his actions. The local news caught wind of the fighting, bringing about an uproar, the headlines blazing with the "scandalous actions." The station manager, wanting to avoid the media circus, fired both Jarik and Allornni but kept Trak and Ken on the payroll. Trak was beaten up by Ken in the employee restroom later that same day. Saddened and fed up, Trak quit his job and hung out with Dareth and Ric'ah.
Soon afterwards, Ric'ah brought an old friend of hers to Trak's apartment. The friend, a retired mentally-ill Rodian bounty hunter named Cami Sookanado, revealed herself to be Trak's mother. Cami had been imprisoned on a backwater planet and used in experiments, including cross-breeding. She had escaped before Trak was born but was forced to give him up for adoption. After nearly twenty years, Trak was finally reunited with his mother.
[edit] Dealings with Darth Mortimus
In 28 ABY, Trak accompanied Cami, Ric'ah, and Dareth on what was assumed to be an easy mission to track down a wayward youngling named Spa'ky, or "Sparky" as he was often called. Trak had known Sparky prior to the chase from when he would tag along with Dareth and Ric'ah. He was originally brought along to offer emotional support for his mentally-unstable mother, but it was decided that Trak's short friendship with Sparky would be helpful in convincing the disillusioned youth to return to Coruscant. However, Trak was unaware of the transformation that occurred in Sparky; the boy was drastically changed in a freak accident with a holocron, giving him new powers and a new identity to match, Darth Mortimus.
On board the Silent Assassin, Trak never left Cami's side, seated in the co-pilot's chair in the cockpit. They tracked Mortimus's ship, The Turtleneck, to the Yartiv system, where a breif firefight ensued. The Turtleneck deployed her payload of Buzz droids in an attempt to disable the Assassin. Trak was sent to the gun turret and a combination of his marksmanship and Cami's piloting skill saw them through the swarm.
Trak was not present in the cockpit at the time of Mortimus's attack on Cami as he was still picking off antique Buzz droids. He had begun to climb down from his post when the Assassin was fired upon, obliderating the ship's engines. The force of the attack caused the ship to lurch violently, sending Trak flying off the ladder and into a console that had been knocked from its anchors. Stunned, he attempted to free himself amidst the arcing, spark-spitting tangle of wires and debris. One of the wires whipped Trak in the face, permanantly blinding him.
[edit] Personality and traits
Trak Nar was a happy young Rodian hybrid. He carried a positive outlook on life, refusing to let any setback get him down for long. Active, energetic, and silly, Trak liked to joke with his friends. His mixed parentage plagued him with genetic defects, including short stature, eventual blindness, shortened lifespan, and possible organ failure as he ages. He was not expected to live passed his first few days of life, but so far has proved his doctors wrong, living well into sub-adulthood.
Trak was legally blind and wore spectacles. His mottled complexion, prominant cheekbones, defined jawline, and the subtler pheromones he exuded were more evidence of the genetic manipulation. Trak had pierced ears; one small stud in his right earlobe and three earrings in his left ear. He spoke Basic with a slight lisp in which "s" syllables were slurred, producing a "ts" sound. This was a common speech impediment among Basic-speaking Rodians, due to the structure of the mouth and palate.
[edit] Behind the scenes
Trak Nar was originally developed as a throw-away character until the author decided to expand his story and give him a purpose. He was initially based off of a DJ of a local radio station. The author kept that initial idea and expanded it further. Trak's first major appearance was in CJ008: Only a Sith Deals an Absolute. Before that, he was confined to role-plays and the pages of the author's sketchbook. Trak's name was derived from the words "ran track."
