In Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron there are many different Battlefronts that are fought on. One Battlefront in Renegade Squadron is space. There are seven instant action space battles in Renegade Squadron as well as several game modes in space including Capture the Flag.
The space combat in prievous Battlefront games involves the player manually finding targets and manually landing. Star Wars: Battlefront II improved this by adding a lock-on and auto-target feature, but the player still had to land the fighter manually. In Renegade Squadron there is an automatic landing feature as well as an auto-lock and auto-pilot feature. The auto-pilot feature automatically aims at the target so that all the player has to do is fire. It is still possible to aim and land manually, and during online play, the auto-pilot and auto-lock is disabled.
Keeping Alive in space can be hard do due to the large amount of units in the battle. Staying away from auto-turrets (Unless the player is trying to destroy them) and rolling occasionally often helps to prevent an enemy unit from locking on to the player's unit. If the player varies speed it can help as it decreases the accuracy of any enemies targeting the player. To win in space the player must either destroy all enemy reinforcements or destroy the opponent's capital ship's vital systems.
